They are talking about the release of the new Radiohead album Kid A- "As would be expected, tracks from the album have been floating around on the Napsters of the world for a while now- however somebody sneaky (I'd like to think it has something to do with Radiohead themselves, but you never know) has been doing their darnedest to confuse the dickens out of unsuspecting fans. For example, many out there unwittingly downloading 'Idioteque' have ended up with what in actuality is a Dream Theater (don't ask- and yes, obviously they are American 'cos they can't spell) instrumental, and version floating about of the 'hidden track' off Kid A are actually cut up version of Styx (remember Eric Cartman's Come Sail Away?) attenot at creating the absolutely worst song ever, Mr Roboto.' By the way, it looks like us prog fans who got into OK Computer for its Pink Floydishness, lengthy progressive/alternative song Paranoid Android, the rocking Electioneering and Johnny Greenwood's awsome, often Frippian, style guitaring, will be disappointed with their new album. I won't comment tho, having not heard it. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 5 Oct 2000 06:15:59 EDT From: email_address_removed To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: Re: something kind of funny, to do with radiohead Message-ID: Yeah, I got Kid A on the 3rd, and I've listened to it quite a few times. It's very, _VERY_ different. By no means bad, but it's quite out there at times. Personally, I like The Bends and OK Computer more. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 04 Oct 00 23:20:33 EST From: susansum@tcp-ip.or.jp To: email_address_removed Subject: Turnkey Ecommerce !! Wait for a Nintendo GameCube(it won't play DVDs but so what, I have a DVD player..or two). I'm betting(not sure on this one) that there is a loss of quality as well when playing movies. It is designed to play games first then movies second. And who wants a DVD player without a remote control? So with all the DTS talk I was wondering if the SFAM DVD will include a DTS track. And as for the Apex and the Raite "cheap" DVD players, you get what you pay for in this situation. A friend bought one and the LCD screen broke after 2 weeks, and said the quality is like a VHS tape. But if you want to play CD-Rs and MP3's it is a decent CD player. -chris ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 5 Oct 2000 15:57:47 +0300 From: "Jyrki Takalo-Kastari" To: Subject: Re: Nightwish DVD (ndtc) Message-ID: <005501c02ecb$dd5ef300$1bee26d4@masiina> ----- Original Message ----- ]From: "Tanja Sorsa" To: "Multiple recipients of list" Sent: Thursday, October 05, 2000 9:44 AM Subject: Nightwish DVD (ndtc) > > Another reason to by a DVD player.... > > Nightwish to Release a DVD! > Great!! Not only does it penalize most of us without a DTS player but it will also seriously reduce the number of discs sold. I can't even mention the huge amount of space needed for the DTS data to fit on the disc which would mean less space to put bonus tracks and extra stuff on the DVD. For example, the "Saving Private Ryan" DTS version doesn't have the documentary that is included with the regular version. I rest my case. --Chahram _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. First off, he IS right - game developers ARE criticizing the PS2 design. Second, it's not just "lackeys or fans of Sega and Nintendo" that are saying that PS2 sucks. Out of about 30 people in my school who played it, 27 or 28 said that it was a total piece of crap, most of which had been preaching "PLAYSTATION 2 WILL BE THE BEST EVER!!!" beforehand. ------------------------------ End of YTSEJAM Digest 5631 **************************
