The simplest way I can put it is like this.  Some arpeggiators are different. 
 What some are do are like this:  you can hold down a C note and it will 
repeat that C  note depending on the tempo and whether you want it in 8th 
notes or whatever.  You can then add notes to that and it will just cycle 
these notes repeatedly.  Like if you hold down middle C then hit E (while 
still holding down C) then hit G, it will do this in a continuous loop - 
C-E-G-C-E-G-C-E-G
so you can get creative with that.
Some arpeggiators you can tell it what key you are in and you can hit one 
note and it will play the arpeggio of that from the note you just hit.  It is 
totally customizable too so you can tell it how long and how many notes you 
want it to play.
and, one of the best ways to think of an "arpeggio" is to think of playing a 
scale but playing every other note. So a chord is basically an arpeggio but 
all the notes are played at the same time.  This isn't the only deffinition 
though, i'm just being very brief.

Oh, and arpeggiators can be used for many cool things besides just 
"cheating."  Like those cool techno beats you hear on dance music and such.

DT didn't really seem into it. Mike wasn't his usual energetic self. James 
*was* his usual energetic self, unfortunately. ;) JP seemed like he was 
interacting with the crowd a little more than usual. I didn't really even 
notice Jordan until his solo. All and all, I wouldn't say it was the best 
performance I've ever seen from them, but looking back on it, the setlist was 
incredible. And the new oscilatting fans in the Factory made it a little more 
enjoyable. spocks went over pretty well i thought. a lot of people knew them 
anyway.

I had a great time tonight, and I'm sorry that by not feeling well I put a
damper over everyone's head. I'm really glad I went though.

I was listening to this Phil Collins CD, and the song (I know you love it
too) "A Groovy Kind Of Love" really stood out. In all honestly, it made me
think pretty heavily about you; and it's pretty much how I feel about you
(in a nutshell). Honestly, it made me cry. I care a  lot about you, and you
are (and will always be) very special to me. I don't want to play it out,
but I DO love you Kristi. You make mefeel like no body ever has; and it's
such a wonderful feeling. I've never felt so strongly about anybody before.

This is a potential spoiler... I'm going to discuss two songs from the 
concert..,. so don't read if you don't want to know. :)




























New Millenium/Caught in a Web.... seemed like CiaW was really the songs known 
as Caught in Alice's Nine Inch Tool Garden... you know... CiaW 96 or whatever 
it's called... the eastern sounding version.  Maybe it was just flipping back 
from NM and CiaW that has me confused, but it sounded like CiANITG to me.

Oh, and I feel bad for Spock's Beard!  They're equipment was screwed up the 
whole set...

CIANITG or CIAW 96 was the basis for New Millenium. A lot of the new ideas 
they came up with for CIAW 96 ended up being used in new Millenium. Thus, 
they decided to combine the two. And it rocked big time, IMO

All I can say about the show last night...wow.  The Beard played almost an 
hour and a half and DT for at least two hours, including a kick-ass surprise 
encore.  (what they played was a suprise, not the fact that there was an 
encore)  I saw my friend Alex (whom I met about a year ago at the Summer 
Performance Program at Berklee) there, and wanted to get an e-mail address 
from him or something.  I waited outside the venue, but couldn't find him.  
Do any of you know him, perchance?  He's about 5' 8" or so, is of slight 
build, and has slightly-longer-than-standard-length brown hair.  Send me an 
e-mail if you do and have some contact information.  I'm not on the jam 
currently, so I won't see any posts to the list.

hehe can you go to a barber and say "i'd like it cut to standard length
please"? that would be awesome. i think ISO needs to get off its ass and
start defining standards for more day-to-day things like hair length and
waist-size-to-pants-size ratio. that last one would be awesome. instead of
Levis Baggy Jeans, they could start making Levis ISO9821+ Jeans. then old
people could yell "get standard jeans, you damn kids!" come to think of it,
this new standardization could help old people with all the things they yell
at kids, including size of pants, length of hair, and even effort required
to perform everyday tasks. "back when i was your age, we had to walk four
times the standard distance to get to school!" awesome. i can see it now.

Quick review:

OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!!!    :-)

This was my 6th time seeing DT and it was by far THE
best I've seen them.   Everyone was is top form,
especially LaBrie.

You MUST see them on this leg of the tour.  If you're
low on cash, consider selling crack for a few weeks 
:^)
(hell...after last night's show, I might do that just
so I can afford a trip up the caost to see them at the
Roseland....is it sold out yet?)
