Meanwhile here are some excerpts that might interest some DT fans. ]From Kevin Moore's Fight Evil Records Chroma Key/You Go Now The latest release from Kevin Moore's Chroma Key, You Go Now features Kevin on vocals, keyboards and bass with guitar by David Iscove and Steve Tushar. This album is very ethereal and conjures dark images of historical space flight, a stark vision of the solitude of space. Fans of Dead Air for Radios will definitely like this one! soundbite - Coming in August from Magna Carta Bozzio Levin Stevens/Situation Dangerous With the success of their debut release, Black Light Syndrome, Magna Carta was not going to let that be the only statement from this trio of Terry Bozzio, Tony Levin and Steve Stevens! It also marked the beginning of a new and more musically challenging era for Magna Carta. Coming soon is Bozzio Levin Stevens second release, Situation Dangerous! soundbite - Available now from Magna Carta Steve Morse/Major Impacts "I'd have to say that 'Major Impacts' has been one of the most captivating things I've ever done," offers Steve Morse. "The concept was for me to write music that reflected the styles of some of the musicians that had influenced me." As a result, Major Impacts is an incredibly dense, value-added collection of rock guitar phrasing, Morse superimposing the weight and authority of his own highly emotive approach o'er top the styles of what comprises a canny and selective roll call of rock's most 'impactful' pioneers. The influences Steve drew upon to compose and perform this album include Eric Clapton/Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Eric Johnson, Alex Lifeson, The Byrds, Jimmy Page/Led Zeppelin, John McLaughlin/Mahavishnu Orchestra, Keith Richards/The Rolling Stones, Leslie West/Mountain, George Harrison/The Beatles, The Allman Brothers Band, Kansas and Yes. Through an esteemed catalogue that includes records with the Dixie Dregs, Kansas and Deep Purple, as well as solo works, Morse has coursed a lifeblood through the art of the guitar. soundbite - Progression magazine issue No. 35 is now available -- with 172 pages! Message-ID: After much thought and consideration...I've decided that after 4 long years it's time to end an era, turn over a new leaf, and move on to bigger and better things...thus I'm giving up "Lifting Shadows Off A Ring" the Dream Theater webring. This has been a difficult descision for me since I've put so much time and effort into the webring, but I feel I am WAY too busy with life right now, and can't maintain the high standards that running a webring requires. Also I have a HUGE opportunity career-wise in the works, and given that things go as planned...I won't have anywhere near enough time to continue LSOAR. So...as has happened many times before with other aspects of the DT Era...I'm passing on the torch. If you would like to take over the task of owning LSOAR send me (email_address_removed not the jam) a nice little essay (nothing huge, and grammar doesn't have to be perfect) stating why you think you're qualified to maintain the ring, along with a description, and/or examples of webpages or rings you've maintained in the past. Use the subject "webring ownership." so I don't just delete your submission. Please note this is a VERY high maintenance job, and requires frequent updates to the webring, the webpages for the ring, not to mention graphic design, yadda yadda yadda. The qualified person will have a ginuine love for DT (no money hungry punks wanting banners all over the place), excellent HTML and graphical skills, housing for the webring homepage, a general knowledge of webring.com and how webrings work, and anything else I can think of between now and then. I will review submissions for the task through August 15th. More EB/MM SPECULATION: Again, who really knows what John was using for the recording of SFAM but the people who sat in the studio, and the people who shipped the guitars to him. Actually, who saw the VERY FIRST SFAM show? The entire tour opener. That'd be a good indication of which guitars he used to record with. I know I wouldn't test a brand new guitar on the first show of the tour, but who knows. If he played the entire show with Ibanez JPM's, then I'm sure he used Ibanez to record with, if he had the EB/MM on the first night, maybe it was both on the record. I'll ask him the 30th, but who knows if he'll say or not. Glad someone thinks so. The only real similarity to my ears is Kevin's singing. Zonder is gone and replaced by a machines. Machines aren't bad (this one sounds great,) but it still ain't Zonder. Face it, Kevin has always been on another planet, but 'You Go Now' finds him in another UNIVERSE. You'd better like soundscapes instead of songs, because there are a lot more of the former than the latter. Very uncompelling album - to me anyway - especially when compared with Dead Air. Speaking of 'Universe', everyone go get the new Planet X NOW!!!!!!!!!!! You've got your mellow, borderline catatonic DT offshoots and your SHREDFEST DT offshots. Planet X has certainly kicked it up a notch. Mike __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Kick off your party with Yahoo!
