Don't get me wrong about what I'm about to say 'cause I'm a bassist myself (I prefer to use bassist than musicien ;-P) and I find all of the guys, be it JP to MP to JM to KM to JR, to be amazing technically and musically, but... .. isn't the most important the "images" and "words". and surely moreso the "images". I'm sure that not a lot of you hard-core fans out there have never listened to DT with the lights off, eyes closed. You all talk a lot about technical issues, which is good, but is a long shot from being the primary reason of being for a DT album (all xcept FII). Typically people that I've met that don't like SFAM (I'm talking of fans) have either missed the most important thing about music or have not yet HEARD it. They've listened to it but haven't heard it. The main difference between DT and most other bands is that DT can be played hundreds and thousands of times and the music still grows on you... .. and you end up a little bit more hooked. So here's a message to those who have not listened to DT yet (fat chance of getting to them here) : Don't start, It's a drug !!! And as we've all heard; Say NO to drugs ;-) That's all for now but I'll get deeper into my musical theories if I'm not boring the shit out of you all ;-). If during FII company really wanted to push them go a lil' more mainstream, how can it be now making such a drastic change with SFAM? Did the company said: "To hell with these guys, we can't brainwash them, let them do their crap" One way or another, there is some DT fanbase that will always buy their records, which is not VERY big but not so small also, and it is constant, devoted fanbase (you can know the sales numbers). If company is greedy they want to get more, they want MORE sales. Or maybe this company accepted the fact to get the DT sales only from their fans and such. It just seems like something is missing. I dunno, .... I just see the fact (if it's true) that a band is bothered by their company to do a mainstream album (although for me FII is not mainstream, ... maybe few average songs but ...) and next thing you know the band releases a full prog concept album (something which is totally in contrast with the previous). just thinking out loud...
