Oh yah! An asshole! Arguing is not about >winning, it's not about imposing your opinion on >someone else, and if that's what you're trying to Yes it is. You're getting it confused with DEBATE. Debate is the discussion and exchange of ideas between two parties interested in sharing knowledge in an amicable setting, and drawing up their conclusions. By sharp contrast, an argument occurs when a person feels their ego has been offended by another person's view, and feels the necessity to air this fact. THAT is an argument, becasue both sides are 100% convinced that they are correct, and wish to convert the unsures to their cause. Witness this applied to DT: we can DEBATE the definitive DT song. We are not allowed to ARGUE about who is the best keys player for DT. Which, in a roundabout way, brings me to this little nugget: >From: "G.J. Stafford" >>One thing I noticed from LTE was that Jordan - >>like Derek, >WHAT ARE YOU SMOKIN? Jordan uses two hands when he >plays. Jordan can outplay Derek with his eyes closed >and one handed while Derek uses 2 hands. >IMO that is, but let's take a vote. Don't be a prat, I'm not comparing their abilities (please God, let's avoid this argument again...). My comment was that they both have a habit of writing riffs that sound like they were written by guitarists - listen to Planet X and a large amount of LTE and you'll see what I mean. There's less of the KevMo / Wakeman style keys riffs; something like Chewbacca or the main riff from WTWB sound like guitar riffs. Derek is much the same...He and Jordan are both very much more agressive players than some other keys players. THAT was my point...And it wasn't even the main point of the post! I'll say it again: READ, THINK, POST. NOT the other way around. >From: Brad Plumb >Subject: Re: James Labrie Does Weddings?? >Message-ID: >>I was wondering, do any of you have any >>leads for me to have James sing at my wedding >>in October 2000?? I have an opinion on this, which I'm not going to post because I haven't really given it too much thought, but I don't really see why we can't debate Derek vs. Jordan. Jordan's a new addition to the band, and naturally a lot of people have opinions about him that have not really been shared yet. Wednesday-woke up, ate walked over to Tabernacle. met this guy Chris from NY who drove staight dwon from the NY show. We walked to underground Atl where he bought LTE2. We moved his car to my hotel then caught Marta up to the signing at Mars. There I met Paul, DJ Phil, and the rest of the hommies. I was 3rd in line, met my idols, then we finally were able lure Paul away (hehe) and went back to the Taberbacle. There we met these peoples from Bham Alabama who had been there since 12:30 pm. After goofing off in line hehehe the pricks finally herded us all into the lower room. My disciples (really feeling it now) hung out at the room at the top of the stairs. Finally the said its open. I puushed my up the stairs and ran for the front crashing the baricade and this cute girl. Oh well. My arm took the brunt of it. ouch. Anyway the show started, Star People were ok, not my thing. Neither were the dregs. Good but I think the next show that will be the longest hour of my life. DT-ok this is serious shit. By Stange Deja Vu I was covered in sweat. I couldn't I rested during through her eyes, then during home the same thing happened. Finally a security guard came over and asked "Do you need water" I said yes then he said go get some. I never thought of that. this is were it gets good. I started a beeline for the bar, pushing my way through. I ticked a few peopel off, coming back this dude pushed the hell out of me, and before you know MOSH!! only for a few secs. It was during the heavy part of DOE. I did it Paul. WOOHOOO. Anyone got back up fornt. And rested for the ending. The last songs I got back into the intense jumping, moving etc. Mike saw me when I was almost passed out, and saw me during the encore. After TTT he came down, with everyone pointing at me, he walked over and said "YOU!" and handed me his stick. that was the most amazing feeling of my life. You would have to ask that wouldn't you? :) It's been a long time... But... as far as I remember... John Myung's first 6-string was a Tobias that he picked up sometime around when DT were recording I&W. He recorded some parts of the album with his old 4-string you see him playing (I think it was for LtL) on the video in the studio, but some parts of I&W definitely were played on a 6-string (Take the Time, for example). Jeez, I hate to sound like an idiot, since I haven't watched Live in Tokyo for ages... but I'm pretty sure he was playing the Tobias through the live shots. Shit, I wish I could remember if it was Tobias or not. hehehehe. He didn't switch over to his yellowish Tung until Awake was released, I'm pretty certain. Then after FII, he got this wonderful Yamaha (I love this thing!). I'm pretty sure, though, that all of WDADU was recorded with a 4-string. I hope that made sense. heheheh. As far as Petrucci's 7-string, I don't think he picked one up until they started recording Awake. I'm pretty sure he never used one on the I&W tour at all, and if he did, it was VERY late in the tour. He was playing Puppies on Acid on his 6-string JPM back then, I believe. Damn, I wish there were a timeline on DT instruments. heheheh. It's all very sketchy to me. :) Like when Mike changed to Mapex, then back to Tama... Derek growing his hair out long and switching to one Kurzweil... etc. :) -- KorgX3 is pretty sure that's Myung's story, though.
