For example, why not just have 3 or 4 songs on an album that have one story going for them together, while the rest of the album is not part of the story. I always though it would interesting for Queensryche to try this. Has been done before?? I can think of a few. Of course there's 2112, Hemispheres, and Caress of Steel from Rush. Parellels from Fates Warning strikes me as having a theme run through it, but each song certainly stands on its own very well. Of course I am a DT fanatic, that is why I am here, but when it comes to them doing covers.......I dunno.... They don't really reinterpret them. They don't "put themselves into them", which makes them pretty empty. IMHO, of course, and good for you if you enjoy them. I think the behated Metallica would make a good comparison: they traditionally made great covers, which are asked for when they play live, and they rip (IMstupidTrendyOpinion). I mean, Blitzkrieg, Evil, Breadfan, or even Whiskey, to name a new one. Now when they play these, the Metalifans (those idiots) enjoy them as if they were Met songs. Megadeth - Anarchy or Paranoid is Megadethy too. Typo Negative has a Beatles cover on the new album, and it is totally Typo! Typo played from the Doors too, that was great too. But not DT. I don't enjoy their covers. Except when they don't take it seriously! NIGHTMARE CINEMA was groovy, or also MISSION impossible was also great in the earlier tours - because it was done for fun! I was VERY impressed by the tone quality and sheer VOLUME that these amps put out. The tone was clear and punchy, very rich, and can be tweaked to perfection with any style of music. I play funk (with a 4-string Warwick), blues (with a 4-string Warwick), and progressive metal (with a 6-string Yamaha RBXJM - YEAH!), and I can get the amp to do whatever the hell I want it to. It is endlessly loud, and sounds great at high volume. The coolest thing about them is the price - $1230 + shipping for the head, the 4x10, and the 1x15. And that's direct from Carvin's website! For $50 more you can step up to the 1x18, but that just doesn't do it for me... :) BTW - Steve Vai's bassist, Philip Bynoe, uses this EXACT same rig on tour. Do we count AMBI? I don't mind either way, although Voices would be a good nominee. Can I just remind everyone though, no-one's ever going to agree on a favourite DT song, that's not the discussion - we're interested in the song that captures the most of all those elements that make DT sound like DT and summarises them. W/o going into too many specifics, Eddie and Chris ended up writing their own versions of the same tune. Eddie didn't want "Footsteps" to detract from the power of Temple Of The Dog's "Times Of Trouble", so he put a live version (although a super one) of "Footsteps" on the "Jeremy" single and left it at that. And since "Footsteps" didn't appear on Ten, there was basically no reason to follow "Alive" with "Once".
