I may have gone more than once but I remember going in the rain and having to park "accross the street" which means 2 blocks away across the street in the Wienerschnitzel parking lot. If you ever happen to see "Bowfinger", the theater everyone is in when "Chubby Rain" premiers in the Fox Mann Theater over here in Westwood. It hasn't changed in 50 years, complete with huge red velvet curtain, painted ceiling and weird gold decorations along the side. Another neat thing was when I say Austin Powers 2 at a theater in Westwood, and a huuuge group of people had dressed up 60's style and rented a double decker bus. ~~Amanda ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Feb 2000 19:31:48 -0500 From: Nischit Vaidya To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: cancel Message-ID: please cancel my subscription to this digest. thank You nischit ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Feb 100 16:25:51 -0800 (PST) From: "Paul W. Even though the sleeve text divides it into several parts, those parts aren't "songs", but rather, well, parts. There is one story. Although nothing prevents you from listening to only, say, Carpe Diem (well, the CD layout makes it a bit tedious to search to the right position in the track), you don't WANT to do that. You want to hear all of it, even though it takes time. But. How is that any different from sfam? It was way over packed, no one could move and of course that fence didn't help a thing. I also was standing in front of the sound board but I could barely see or breathe and I couldn't move at all. Dream Theater needs to start playing at a larger place in CT like the Webster or the Oakdale, they've definitely outgrown Toads Place. I've never been to the Oakdale, but I saw 'em at the Webster two years ago, and I don't recall it being too crowded. Last night really sucked though. Toad's place had ALMOST redeemed itself with the last few shows I saw there, but then they went and put that fence up on the right of the stage again. People from all walks of life enjoy the Simpsons, from the more conservative folks to the more..um.. demented folks. One of my favorite lines was when they were in a courtroom and Bart had to testify (I forget the details) and he looks at Homer and Homer thinks "son, I know you can tell what I'm thinking...meow-meow-meow-meow meow-meow-meow-meow-meow meow-meow-meow-meow-meow-meow-meow-meow-meow" (you know, the jingle from the meow mix commercial) it wasn't the funniest line ever but I'm a cat person so I appreciated it. hmm... come to think of it I haven't seen that episode in a while... it was in an episode, right?... I'm not imagining this, am I?.... So, anyway, DT content? Well, I went to Toads to see them and I was a bit disappointed about the whole fence thing. But I decided to just make the best of the situation and enjoy it anyway, it being my first DT concert. (I'm a young'un, a newbie) so I really had nothing to compare it with. I had never been to a club show before and never been to a DT show either. But I certainly enjoyed it. Even though I couldn't see that well, just the feeling of being engulfed by the music is wonderful. And I was paying attention to the videos, too, for some of it. I wanted to get more of an insight as to the details of the whole plot & mystery of SFAM.
