Message-ID: Figured I'd try and get a DT fan's perspective on KMFDM if anyone here is into them. I've always liked industrial influences mixed in with my metal, and they seem to fit the bill based on the one or two tunes I've heard on the radio, whereas NIN and the like don't do much for me. Oh yeah, I'm also waaaaay into Stabbing Westward. Comments? Recommendations? Mike __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo! Message-ID: If you like metal/industrial hyrids, you'll love KMFDM. The earlier stuff is more towards the industrial, while the latter era stuff moves a bit more into the mainstream while still being heavy. The best KMFDM CD is "Nihil", IMHO of course. There's a "best of" CD that I can't think of the name of that might also be a good disc to check out if you've never heard the band. Hope this helps. Here are a few of emotional songs I enjoy or used to enjoy. I don't really care about the words, but about the way it is sung and about the music. Before beginning, for me the word "ballad" just means low tempo and cool melodies. Queensryche : Silent Lucidity, Out of Mind Savatage : Believe, Somewhere in Time, When The Crowds Are Gone (I think they are the masters of power ballads) GNR : November Rain (my favorite GNR song) Mullmuzzler : Sacrifice (Seasons come, seasons go, where they lead I just don't eeeeeeveeeeeer knooooooow) RHCP : Breaking the Girl, Under the Bridge Steve Vai : Touching Tongues Megadeth : Captive Honour (not really a love song...) DT : Eve, Voices, LSOAD, SDV (yes, I consider Voices as a ballad though there are some fast parts) Deep Purple : Child in Time Nightwish : Lapland (the instrumental section really makes you feel the cold) Pantera : Fucking Hostile -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-. - SebasT - http://members.aol.com/sebast87/page1.htm -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-. May I suggest some others? FW's We Only Say Goodbye Stevie Ray Vaughan's version of Little Wing Dire Straits' Brothers in Arms And the best of the best, imho: Rachmaninof's (I spelled that wrong, I'm sure) 3rd Vesper. ===== "Anyone with a memory must have tremendous humility." It's pretty cool.... I must say I was listening to a bootleg off Bogie's site and that version of Metropolis 1 is one of the best I've heard them do. James voice was incredible and in the whole show he hardly f**ked up once. Of course it was one of the first shows on tour, but still it proves what he can do when he's at it his best. > Until now that is, with SFAM, I have a new found respect for his voice. After finally seeing DT live last month in Zwolle and Brussels, James was amazing, hitting every note, no wasteful screaming, so after 8 or so years he finally won me over, not that I think Charlie is better or anything, I've heard him sing Metropolis Part I and it is painful :) > ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 02 Jan 2000 22:25:22 -0500 From: Carlos Andres Alfaro To: Ytsejam Mailing List Subject: audio question for al! =) Message-ID: Dude! It never came to me, but now that you mention it, as I think, can it possibly be the little keyboard driven break that changes the whole previous mood of the song, which goes right before the riffs starts? :) I bet you had THAT on mind! ------------------------------ End of YTSEJAM Digest 5254 **************************
