ICP? HAH! Message-ID: <001601bf5093$87958180$message_id_removed> <> Consider me an open-minded person for a moment. I loved Korn's first album, but they have steadily declined since, until Issues. Honestly, their new album isn't all that fantastic... they've basically been playing the exact same song over and over again, just a little differently with different lyrics. Korn is in desparate need of variety. As for ICP... nah, they're just horrible. My friends love them, but once again, everything they have produced is the EXACT SAME. They (for the most part) write songs only to sell albums. And as for your domestic violence/racism etc claims... I'd love to know where you find this. The majority of the lyrics I've heard are about having sex with dead people, screwing your mom and grandma, and killing your ex-girlfriend cuz she screwed around. Granted, it's all in the spirit of amusment and fun, but they're ADVOCATING violence to sell albums. Wheee! Never mind that they're completely talentless. And I say that after many hours of forced ICP listening. Korn on the other hand... Issues is the first step to recovery from that awful Follow The Leader album. I want to be a music critic if I ever grow up. ---phairgirl mail: email_address_removed HOE e'zine: http://www.hoe.nu ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Dec 1999 11:28:46 PST From: "Fran Brennan" To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: re:Blue Man Group Message-ID: I saw Blue Man group in boston a few months ago, and the three "Blue Men" played drums, and they had one drummer in the loft (plus a stick player and someone else who I forgot what he did =^). I'm not sure the "six drummers and a few precussionists" thing on Leno was them, though. They're more performance art/comedy/music than just music. Insane stuff though, very highly reccomended. -Banjoman np: Gentle Giant - Free Hand (holy wow!!! Why didn't someone tell me about these guys earlier!!!?!?!?!) O-P, you might be thinking about the "Blue Man Group," an "avant-guard performance rt/music" troupe from NYC. They've had an off-Broadway show for quite a few years now (I first saw them in high school). The full show is ery hard to explain, except that it involves audience participation, abouttwo stomach-fulls of marshmallows, spitting paintballs, and tons of toiletpaper during the finale! :) Needless to say, if you're in the NYC area, skipall the "Lion King" crap, and head into the village to see this show....andyes, they do have a CD available. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- We blew a fuse with a BALLAD?!? - Scott Henderson ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Dec 1999 15:01:13 -0500 (EST) From: Andrew Coutermarsh To: Multiple recipients of list Subject: Re: Korn? I'm not big on ICP at all (but I've only heard 3 songs by them so I guess I can't really judge), but I love KoRn. They are one of the most original bands to come out in the last 10 years IMO. They use chords that don't normally make sense and make sense out of them. That's brilliant I think. But if someone doesn't like them, that's cool too. I can see how people could find them annoying. I'm just giving my personal opinion here. I think they're a hard band for many people to understand. To know how the claims I made are justified, visit my website, as Andrew said. > > of amusment and fun, but they're ADVOCATING violence to sell albums. No, no, NO! They're advocating violence because they want to hurt somebody. You know how you get angry at someone and wat to hurt them? This is the same thing, but on a larger scale. Why is ranting about one's problems OK if you're George Carlin or Denis Leary OK, but not ICP? Jeez! > > Wheee! Never mind that they're completely talentless. And I say that They admit they have no talent. Find someone with the "Shockumentary" video, and sit through it sometime. They admit that they have no musical telent, but give people what they want. While the rest of us are sitting back saying how stupid and childish they are, they went from rags to riches. That has to count for something. > You know, if I had the time to look up all of the references, I would. Message-ID: It seems a Korn sucks/rules thread is beginning to form, so let me add my thoughts. I was so prejudiced against the band because everyone was wearing a Korn shirt at my high school. The only song I had ever heard was Addidas, and I wasn't impressed with the lyrical content. I thought they were this big trendy band that everyone was into. I heard freak on a leash one day on the radio, and liked it not realizing it was Korn, I later found out and began to question myself. Then a friend bought the CD and was freaking out because we had hated them because they were popular, not realizing how good of a metal band they were, and how original they are. I have since then bought all of the CDs. I am going to see them in February in New Orleans, and will rock. Just because people like something, a lot of people, doesn't mean its bad. We tend to have a complex sometimes to go too against the grain, and pop culture in general. I found something I can enjoy that a lot of other people do. My tip-Listen to their first CD and ask yourself what band in 1994 sounded like this. My answer: Nobody. they originated a new sound, something which very few bands do today. Limp Bizkit, I gave them a listen, THAT IS PURE SHIT.
