I am hoping for a short down-time, but things are not looking good at this point so we could be offline for as long as 18 hours. I haven't been able to totally assess the damage. If necessary, I'll be moving the site to a new box, which means re-installing the CGI apps and trying to salvage data, along with re-uploading all the files. Just keep checking it once in a while. Thanks for your patience and understanding. Mark Breidus is in direct contact with the band, so he will know what the tour dates are when DT decides on where and when to play. >From: Peter Geerts >Anyone else noticed this? > >1) Put Ice Age's 'The great Divide' in your CD-player >2) Find track 10 (Worthless Words) >3) Listen to the wacky section from 0:55 to 1:00 of that track >4) Put I&W in your CD-player >5) Find Metropolis pt. I >6) Listen to the wacky section from 4:42 to 4:50 of that track >7) Be amazed! > >Is this coincidence? Tribute? It has to be a tribute. Ice Age is too good and too tight to not have at least a little influence from DT. And if they have influence from DT, they have to know Metropolis. But you are right, I did a double take the very first time I listened to that track all the way through. The very last figure is exactly the same - and I haven't checked, but I would bet it is in the same key. It sure sounds like it. I think what Jim Ahab said on the last jam is worth repeating - *************** For those of you priviliged enough to get an advanced promo of the new DT, PLEASE do not ruin the surprise for everyone by listing the title, track info, etc. I want it to be a secret until I order the CD, and I know a lot of other people do to. *************** Also, I would like to make two whole-hearted plugs for two CD's I got recently...Tiles' "Presents of Mind" and J. LaBrie's new solo album, Mullmuzzler "Keep it to yourself" Both are terrific prog albums, with Tile's reminding me a lot of bands such as Ice Age, Superior, Pain of Salvation. These guys are terrific, and I will be picking up their other albums soon. Terrific diversity and talent. And the first track off of Mullmuzzler has been in my head NONSTOP for the past three days. If it weren't such a catchy, awesome song, I would be getting pissed off by now. But damn, what a great album. Both of them are. Everybody, the new Yngwie is out this month and so is the new Helloween! Get it! Is there a site on the net someone can tell me about? Yah. Here's what the new album cover will look like: http://www.safelink.net/washburn/dtcover.jpg The album will be titled "La Petite Femme A La Moi" James is singing it completely in French. While John P. will be using the 7 string on half of the album (as usual), he has opted to discard using a 6-string guitar altogether. All other guitar parts are recorded via sitar, banjo, and charango. Mike Portnoy recently purchased a discontinued Tre Cool series drumset and recorded the album in its entirety on the 4 piece kit with 3 cymbals. When asked why the abrupt change from his previous monster kit he only commented, "I just wanted to show that bastard Bozzio that it can be done on a simple set." John Myung recorded only one song with the band, the 2 minute opus, "Get Jiggy (Vous Les Vous?)," just so that he could be pictured with the band. The rest of the bass parts were filled in by ex-Nirvana drummer now turned Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl. Jordan Rudess couldn't play all of his parts correctly so most of them were sequenced for recording. Apparently he will not be touring with the band due to his inability to count past four, so all of the keyboard parts will be expected to be hummed by the fans in concert. Fans refusing to hum will not be admitted. Although the band claims to be producing it themselves, insiders have revealed that it is being produced by a duo of Bob Rock and Dan Huff. Although, both producers have allegedly ruined established bands such as Metallica and Megadeth, they are responsible for setting their careers ablaze in the media, allowing them to rack in millions. All songs and lyrics were written by Burt Bacharach. That's the scoop on the new album! It's due October 29th! -- KorgX3 is a wise man. I've screwed up too my Ibanez Custom. It use to have this "buzz" sound all over the neck from the G position. (3rd. scale.) So, I decided I had to experiment with it =). Well, to make it short, the buzz sound is gone, but instead now I have the strings almost a 0.5 cms. from the neck, which I think is higher than the Everest, and isn't very helpful when I'm in the mood of playing Yngwie type stuff....hehehe.... Any recommendations ? Yan. ------------------------------ End of YTSEJAM Digest 5063 **************************
