Her concert is consisted of two sets... in every set she played about 60 percent of her pop-oriented music and the other 40 % was pure f/&k!%g classic... they had a grand, concert piano on the stage and she played a few classical pieces some of which were extremely long and demanding... when she played those pieces she used her Stradivari violin which is god-only-knows how old... i think she said something about 200 years. Don`t hold me on that one... i`ve gotta check on the video. And the exception on the concert that she played in Pula (that`s where i live - Croatia) was that they didn`t play as much classical pieces like at some other concerts because humidity was very high. The amphitheatre where she played is set right next to the shoreline. And the high humidity can damage the wood... you all know how that goes. So, normally, on her concerts you can hear about 50% of pop-oriented music and 50% of classic... which is played on a non-cut-out classic Stradivari violin on which you can`t get those higher notes easier... there... Message-ID: Hey Jammerz - Got an open question for any of you out there... a mail order place that I've dealt with before (Terrible Ted's Import Music) has advertised a "Best Of Wacken Open Air" 2 CD set, which apparently includes bands like Stratovarius, Angra, and Blind Guardian, among many others. I sent him an e-mail asking for a full track listing, and the reply I got said only that it was a 2 CD set with live and studio material, and that there were far too many tracks to type (almost 40, he said). So I went searching around the net for info. CDNow has nothing. I looked at CDEurope, and it is listed, but there are no track listings. (I guess it's an official release, then.) It looks like the record label is SPV, which I've heard of before, but after searching, I can't find any site on the web for this label. My question is: do any of you out there have this CD? If so, would you be so kind as to pass along to me via private e-mail a full track listing, including indicating which is live and which is studio as well as how the sound quality is? Or if it would be easier, if anyone knows where on the web I can view a full track listing, that would be fine too. All that matters is the final product, the music that you buy and listen to. If the artist used a couple of wooden sticks and a big drum or a stateoftheart computer. It doesn't mean jack shit. My conclusion: The "Baby" that was Dream Theater (I&W, > Awake) has been split right down the middle. As was prophesized in "Metropolis Part 1 'The Miracle And The Sleeper'" [Stunning analysis snipped. It does however deserve an Honorable Mention for the seperation of "Dream" (aka The Sleeper) from "Theater" (aka The Miracle.) And I'm serious here.] > This may describe some of the different opinions out there about Derek > vs Kevin, and FII vs earlier DT. He's a chops/jam kinda player. > > Those that were drawn to DT by "mood" songs like WFS, Space-Dye Vest, > LSoaD, LTL, and Surrounded may miss Kevin. Interesting analysis, but you missed the point. Ok. Since ususally the whole band does the music, I'm going to attribute the sound/feel of any particular song to the lyricist. And using this, I hate to break it to you, but Myung wrote LSoaD and LtL. Myung's other solo lyric credit comes from "Trail of Tears," after Kev left. ToT as song probably comes from Theater (Miracle), but is not very far removed from the other half. LtL, I'd place as a Sleeper song, but once again, not too far removed. LSoaD I'd call clear cut Sleeper. This means that Myung's lyric credits place him alongside Kevin Moore as part of the Sleeper child, the Dream half of DT. Portnoy? I don't think there's any doubt on this one. Chalk one up for The Miracle. Petrucci? His credits include "The Killing Hand," "Metropolis Pt 1," "Under A Glass Moon," "Voices" and "Lines In The Sand." At first glance, it sounds like more of a landslide that with Portnoy, but then we remember that he also wrote "Another Day," "Innocence Faded" "Hollow Years." And he's a guitarist. Miracle/Theater. [Though, as a side note, it seems that his work is either psycho-prog or mellow-pop. Or, in the case of "Peruvian Skies," both.] Derek has yet to write any songs, so we must tread lightly. His use of the keys, however, seems to place him firmly in the Miracle/Theater camp. Accepting this, this makes the total so far 3-1 for current members, and 3-2 including alum. And when we're talking about alum, how could we forget our chum, Chuck D. Unfortunately for our analysis, Mr. Dominici left after only one album, penning only one and a half songs. "Afterlife" solo, and "Status Seeker" with Petrucci. From my vantage point, he goes in the Theater/Miracle bin, but not that solidly. It almost seems as if we need a seperate bin for his work. Hmm... Anyway, this leaves the final tallys at Miracle - 3 (4 including alum), Sleeper - 1 (2 including alum.) James? James doesn't count. Allow me to explain. James has only one solo credit, "Anna Lee," which has Sleeper written all over it. However, he also wrote "Caught In A Web" with Petrucci, which has Miracle stamped clearly on the forehead. These, unlike all previous cases, cancel each other out, making James both twins. He is The Miracle _and_ The Sleeper. He is Dream and Theater, in one. Thus he is the logical choice to write Metropolis Part II - Armageddon. Yes, Armageddon. There are two reasons for this. Firstly, "Metropolis Part II - Electric Boogaloo" doesn't sound quite right. And, secondly, this song will mark the end of the world as we know it. When DT first formed, they were out of balance, with the Miracle/Theater twin having a slight edge, due to Dominici's influence. But, after that first album, he left the band. Before doing so, he spoke of the one that was to come. "I touched with one/ who made me run" - Afterlife He spoke of James LaBrie, who apparently appeared to Charlie well before Charlie chose to run. The title of the song also serves as an important clue. "You're running in circles/ And I'm turning away You refused to believe/ Now I'm turning away" - Status Seeker The word 'circles' is a reference to how James will complete the cycle of the Dream Theater, sparking Armageddon. Charlie also prophesized about James by being a 'type' of James, in other words, his life paralleled James's own. Dominici wrote one and a half songs, "AfterLife" Alone, and "Status Seeker," the second song on the album, with Petrucci. James, so far, has written "Anna Lee" Alone, and "Caught In A Web," the second song on his second album, with Petrucci. James stabalized the band's Dream/Theater or Miracle/Sleeper balance, allowing for an unprecedented reign of glory, hence _Images and Words_ and _Awake_. Even before James wrote his collaboration with Petrucci, John was smart enough to see what was going to happen. This is why he penned "Metropolis Part I - 'The Miracle and The Sleeper'" about this very subject. Let us search the text. In the first verse, he speaks of Charlie and WDADU, "The smile of dawn..." - the beginning of the band; "She carried a gift from her home..." - 'She' is Dream Theater, the Mother, and Her gift is the twins, Miracle and Sleeper, Theater and Dream, i.e., once again, the band. They first chose the name 'Majesty' as a more oblique reference to Her, but since that was taken, they had to settle for using Her actual name, Dream Theater. "...And of sorrow and pain/ She'll never outgrow" - Could this be refering to anything other than WDADU? [Sorry.] "Death is the first dance eternal" - this 'death' is actually Charlie leaving the band. Delving deeper, we realize that there's more: this prophesizes Armageddon using the twin concept, contrasting 'death eternal' with 'the first dance.' The other word there? 'Is.' Need I say more? "There's no freedom/ the both of you will be confined to this mind" There's a lot in these two lines. 'No freedom' prophesizes Kevin Moore leaving so that he can go off his own direction, because there is no freedom within the Dream Theater. However, we also have the second line, which is even more chilling. 'The both of you' refers to the twins, Miracle and Sleeper, who will be 'confined' to only one mind. Yes, that's right, James LaBrie. The second verse (note once again the occurance of the number 2, pointing ahead to Metropolis Part II) references the twins, using the words "miracle" and "dream." There is also a reference to one version of Armageddon, with "swimming in a lake of fire." Note once again the use of a duality, 'lake,' normally referring to water, and 'fire.' Petrucci knew what he was doing. "Deceit is the second without end." - There is an explaination for this quote, but it is far too shocking to bring up now. It must wait until more is revealed. The third verse, refering to the future is more difficult to decipher. The future at the time this song was written, however, included _Awake_, ACOS and FII. From the text: A Change of Seasons - "Before the leaves have fallen" Falling Into Infinity - "...have fallen" "this one will last forever" Awake is not specifically referred to within these lyrics, but I believe it's clear what that title is about. The Sleeper twin, most strongly personifed by Kevin Moore, woke up. Kevin realized what was going on, hence the album beginning with his "Six o'clock and the siren kicks him from a dream" and ending with the depressing "Space-Dye Vest," where Keving told everyone his response to the "Lie." To wit: "And I'll have no more dreams to defend." He decided that he was not going to defend the Sleeper twin anymore. Why? Because "the siren [kicked] him from a dream." 'Siren' must of course refer to James/Charlie, who is the same person, who is The Miracle and The Sleeper in one, who is Dream Theater. He knows all about the honor of God, Mary Jane, but he also knows when he's hopelessly outmatched. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web. He knows all about the honor of God, Mary Jane, but he also knows when he's hopelessly outmatched. Kevin's album with Chroma Key, _Dead Air For Radios_ is an attempt to let the world know what is going to happen, but Kevin chooses to do so rather abstractly. "i'm colorblind three way tragedy... maybe i'm paranoid yeah that's my problem" - Colorblind In "Even the Waves" he speaks of three pairs, "me & judas" followed by "me & jonas" and then finally "me & joseph." Note that all three start with the letter 'j.' Like Petrucci's Metropolis, this is also a 3-way tragedy. We have the first, Judas, Death and Charlie, followed by Jonas, Deceit and DT's middle period, and then finally, Joseph, Love, and Armageddon. [Judas, the betrayer, followed by Jonas, an oblique reference to Jonah (and the whale), who appeared to be dead, and then finally Joseph, the father (Love) of the prophesized one (in this case, James)]. Since DAFR is so oblique, I will only include a few more quotes in the effort of moving on. "there's a song that i'd rather forget" - Undertow "i was half outside and half inside a dream" - America The Video "left them behind or ahead and he said sooner or later you get up off the floor when no one wants to hear it anymore" - S.O.S. "each time i walk out the door someone mixes metaphors" - On the Page "she steps into the stream the level rising" - Mouse (Now watch what happens) Note the cry for help, ie SOS, 'She' once again is Dream Theater, the Mother. But, the 'someone' who 'mixes metaphors,' well, that bring us back to what I tried to skirt earlier. The part about "Deceit is the second without end," and what "Lie" Kevin really wrote about. But be patient. A 'Change' of Seasons indeed. We now have Derek instead of Kevin, and a new ep. I invite you to search through the title track on your own, in order to find out how much Mike really knew about this whole thing. Compare the earlier versions of this song to the official one, and see what, if any, changes Mike made now that Kevin, the main Sleeper force, was gone. But let us look at the covers. "Funeral For a Friend/ Love Lies Bleeding" is fairly obvious. The members were still morning the loss of the Kevin, and possibly still the loss of Charlie. In the Flesh? - Possibly James questioning his own existance as the Dream Theater, the Miracle and the Sleeper in one mind, or flesh. Brace yourself for this one. Carry On Wayward Son - John Petrucci is speaking to James, his adopted son, who he wants to finish his work here by writing Metropolis Part II - Armageddon. We're through the looking glass, folks. Yes. John Petrucci - he who wrote a song with each of the incarnations of the two twins in one, he who wrote of the future in Metropolis Part I, he who spoke of himself with the line "Deceit is the second without end," he who is the 'stepfather' (of James/Charlie with Dream Theater the Mother) from Kevin's expose "Lie," he who mixes metaphors like nobody's business, he who wrote of "Poor Vanessa" (aka Dream Theater the Mother, aka "Mother Mary quite contrary" [hence the Mary Queen of Scots logo]), he who wrote of his "Fortune In Lies" - is the true villian here. Petrucci is the mastermind behind this. He found Dream Theater, the Mother, and married her, becoming stepfather to the two twins. He was not pleased with the first incarnation, Charlie, and demanded another, "this time for real" - from the ominously titled "The Ones Who Help to Set the Sun." Thus cames James. John was estatic, so much so that he allowed the greatest force against him, Kevin Moore, to remain in the band for another two albums ("you tell me 'bout your two more coming"). He writes of his overwhelming joy in "Under A Glass Moon." I will not analyze it at this time, but you can't help but think that that song was written by some hyper child, rejoicing in what has been given him. John was less jubilant after _Awake_, and quickly disposed of Kevin, who was replaced by Derek, who John claimed to be a "Perfect Stranger." I think it's clear - Derek is a clone of John Petrucci, placed in the band to do John's bidding, which is why Derek hasn't written anything yet - there is no need for it. What else can we tie in? John's facination with pop songs, as mentioned before. To this list we can add "The Silent Man," a song which John wrote both the lyrics and the music for, which was released as a single. [Previously, only the rebellious Kevin Moore had written both music and lyrics for a song, with SDV and "Wait for Sleep." Or, as he wanted to call it, "Wait for Sleeper."] The point is, Petrucci is branching out, trying to get a larger audience for his band, which is his ticket to world domination. If James was the evil one here, he could just write "Metropolis Part II - Armageddon" and be done with it. But he's not, and he's only just realizing that he is merely a pawn in Petrucci's game. Several questions, areas for study, remain. First off, we need to study that final verse of "Metropolis Part I" to learn what the future holds for us. From FII, Petrucci's "Lines In The Sand" seems fairly prophetic, but even I cannot yet interpret it. And also, what does Desmond Child have to do with Petrucci's conspiracy of a planned Armageddon? Did he think that Petrucci was being to arrogant, calling the song "You Or Me"? And just where do Mike Portnoy, who wrote "Why'd I betray my friend" in "The Mirror," his companion song to Kev's "Lie;" and John Myung, who possibly was Kevin's only true friend in the band - he was also part of the Sleeper twin; he wrote LtL so Kevin could write the intro song, WfS - stand on this issue? And is James really neutral or is he going to rebel like so many before him, forcing Petrucci to either find another replacement incarnation of the two twins together in on mind/flesh? And if that does happen, will Petrucci replace James as he did Kevin, with a clone of himself? And actually, is the current John Myung, who wrote "Trail of Tears," a Miracle/Theater song, the same one that wrote LtL and LSoaD? TO SUM UP: John Petrucci and his army of clones (Sherinian and Myung) are taking over DT, waiting for a Charlie/James incarnation to write "Metropolis Part II - Armageddon," sparking the end of the world as we know it. If John and his clones of the Miracle/Theater twin are victorious in the final battle, Petrucci will reign forever - for he loves only himself, and "Love is the Dance of Eternity." The wild cards? Mike Portnoy, who appears to be a solid Miracle/Theater follower, who plays the party line, who has never written a Sleeper/Dream song, could be on the side of good, i.e. the side against John Petrucci. There is also Kevin Moore, who was beaten by Petrucci once, but has returned with his _Dead Air For Radios_, which he is trying to use to once again do battle with the evil that is John Petrucci. So support Kevin and his fight by buying DAFR. As for Mike? Well, we can't really help him, but he still can help himself. Mike, you must take it upon yourself to write "Metropolis Part II - John's Dementia" exposing to the world the chilling scheme that John Petrucci is trying to hatch. To close, ever wonder why "The Killing Hand" is the only song with vocals from WDADU that is still played with any regularity? It is John's confession: "No one is left now my one and only land I laugh at what I've done I am the Killing Hand" - "The Killing Hand" - John Petrucci Mad dog --- email_address_removed --- John Haveman "Im Anfang war das Wort?" ...
