(Itchy didn't mention that in his post at all; LiT may not have been released in PAL format, and if not, he probably wouldn't have a copy, right?) It's not bad. In general, Dream Theater videos aren't particularly cheesy. For true "cheesy" videos, take a look at the Rush Chronicles video. From the cheesy 1970s "Closer to the Heart," to the cheesy 1981 "Tom Sawyer" and "Red Barchetta," to the horrible "Distant Early Warning" and "The Big Money," it's pretty bad. The climax of cheese comes next, with "Time Stand Still," starring Aimee Mann. That's the cheesiest video I've EVER seen. No question; it's probably the cheesiest video ever made! (And when you think about the budget they used for those "special effects"... OUCH!) Most specifically, if any of you haven't played the PlayStation game Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, I suggest you do. The music in that game is incredible, and very proggish - kinda like Symphony X stuff. It's very gothic, uses lots of organ and keyboard and stuff. Well, maybe not "prog-metal" like DT would be termed... I guess it could more be called neo-classical. But it's still good. :) For those of you that download MP3s, there's a page that has all the Castlevania albums not available in the US available for download. Go to the following site: http://www.classicgaming.com/castlevania/mp3/cd.htm - I suggest that you listen to the arranged stuff like "Dracula Battle Perfect Selection". The second track on that album sounds SCARILY like SX... Enough that when I listened to it, I thought that it was something that SX had done and went and listened to my SX stuff to try and figure out which song it sounded like (it didn't - I just thought it did). But the live stuff is great to have It's got all the Japanese soundtrack albums - note that they're just there because we can't get theme here, for those of you that would object. ------------------------------------------------- Andrew Coutermarsh email_address_removed http://cout.home.dhs.org/ Cloak on IRC ICQ: 2513441 ------------------------------------------------- The average woman would rather have beauty than brains, because the average man can see better than he can think. ------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 6 Aug 1999 02:19:58 +0300 From: "xxx" To: "Ytsejam" Subject: Another voting... Thanx to Korgy, it has been disclosed that Trey Parker of "South Park" fame once attended Berklee, and he too dropped out. (BTW, Parker's song writing on the South Park soundtrack was AMAZING!) And now this... it's come to my attention after watching VH1's "Behind the Music" this past weekend that Melissa Etheridge also went to Berklee for a year before dropping out and eventually achieving the world-wide success that she has! On the topic of Berklee, I think I might have a guess as to the motivational factors behind so many people dropping out. Getting in is not the only hard part, but getting housing is the next problem. My entry is being delayed by a semester because I can't afford rent for an apartment on top of tuition.
