New? Fraid not. It was the first album they put out after changing their name from Treblinka. Very old, very black Tiamat. The new album is called "Skelton Skeletron" and is due in mid-August. As far as I know, the band is still with Century Media. This is one of the albums I'm really looking forward to this year. For more information, take a peek at Tiamat's semi-official page at http://www.thegrid.net/tiamat/ Portable CDs. At work I use an old Saba portable. It's now about 5 years old, runs 5 - 6 hours every day, has had coffee spilled on it, cost about DM 100 (or US $ 50) and has always delivered the goods with no problems. I threw away the dinky in-the-ear phones that came with it, and I have been happily using Sennheiser HD 475 headphones for quite a time. Possibly not everybody's cup of tea, but it keeps me reasonably subdued. New reviews coming soon. Sundown's latest offering "Glimmer" is somewhere between Rammstein-Lite and Die Krupps. "Mercury" by the Norwegian band Madder Mortem is a must for fans of The 3rd And The Mortal, and Liechtenstein's (where the hell is that?) contribution to my CD collection, in the form of "Der Untergang von Tristona" by the band WeltenBrand is simply beautiful gothic/dark/wave. A question for Canadian jammers. Does anybody know if the band Moist are still around/recording? I've got the albums "Silver" and "Creature" (both thoroughly recommendable), and I'd be very interested in getting some more of their stuff if it exists. Let me know. The quality of mp3's found the net varies a lot, but a well done mp3 can be very close in quality to cd. I think that they'd be very comparable to mini disc in that sense. Advantages of the Rio would include: computer interface (for archiving and retrieving music), small size, no moving parts (tolerant to shakes and bumps, and will not wear out on you), and it's trendy and cool and looks neat =P. Not to mention that mini discs are probably on their way out, having never really caught on, thanks largely to the recording industry and their monopolistic control of delivery devices. However, Rio and similar toys are really not at a very good price point yet. Wait another generation or two (say until Christmas) and you'll get a much better product, and probably for considerably less money. I don't feel like writing what is wrong with the Sony portable CD player in details, but some parts which are set inside of it and the Walkman don't seem to have good qualities because of manufacturing process of them. Other Sony products seem to be okay, though. I recommend Panasonic's portable CD player. Now I use Panasonic. I've dropped that twice by mistake, but it is still alive...:).
