Joey Belladonna got fired in 1992 for "musical differences." the band went on with new lead singer John Bush (kick ass) Dan wasn't contributing hardly at all to the writing of the songs like he used to. He was more intrested in spending more time with his family. So now, we have Anthrax as a four pice, but Dime, and Paul Crook play the solos on Stomp and Vol 8 (which is a great fucking metal disc) Crook plays the tours with them, but cannot commit to joining because of the producing he does. Gilmour is singing the first part and then in the end, Jon Carin (keyboard player) sings the last verse... he has a great, "strong" voice IMO, it sounds a hell of a lot better than Roger singing it IMO. A friend of mine who worships Journey like no other went to see this tour at the Tweeter Center over the weekend. He said Steve Augerri is, for the most part, a *dead ringer* for Steve Perry. Songs like "Faithfully" he didn't quite nail it, but on everything else he was so dead on it was scary. My friend had a really good time, though, even without the absence of Steve Perry (arguably one of the top 5 rock vocalists, imho). He also said that Lou Graham of Foreigner can't sing to save his life. :) Nicholas Giannotti x6745 Joint STARS Contracts email_address_removed ---------------------------------- Out the token ring, through the router, down the fiber, off a switch, past the firewall, down the T1 ... nothing but Net. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 30 Jun 1999 13:22:21 GMT From: "michael m." Message-ID: Hi all welcome to the "J.C. Trent Ptacek" jam. So how many organs does a man really need? Personally, I only have one, a 6 inch Longdong with a hand slider. While being perfectly adequate when soloing, it just isn't enough when performing a duet with my girlfriend (who has a great sense of rhythm). This is when I have to make use of my 8 fingers and 2 thumbs to help her reach the really high notes. As far as polyphonics are concerned, we both find 69 to be sufficient for reaching aural (oral?) high spots. In addition, we both have a couple of other buttons and joysticks (including the hard-to-find G spot) that can be manipulated alone or in combination with each other in order to produce some interesting effects. Although we are now both fairly proficient, we are somewhat camera-shy and prefer to perform in private. All the above equipment is also played and endorsed my Kevin More, Derek Shoveitin and Jordan Rudies. stay safe and happy listening Neil Gallop (email_address_removed) Currently playing: With - Myself ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 30 Jun 1999 07:55:46 -0500 From: Ryan Good To: email_address_removed Subject: spiral architect? Message-ID: Someone said some weeks back that the only thing ytsejammers has in commojn is DT. I think we can ad Pink Floyd to that. I consider myself a PF-know-it-all, and if you want to go from DT to PF, the Wall is one way, because of In the Flesh(The Big Medley(ACoS)). Also there it is the Have a Cigar-riff, Wish you were here, on Peruvian Skies(OiaL). Just going prog, it should be Animals, 4,5 songs from the past recorded for fun. If you you came into DT cause of Spyro Gyra(sax), buy The Devision Bell, if you like the 80's, buy A Momentary Lapse of Reason. The album, that is. If you like sympfonic music during breakfast buy Atom Heart Mother. For the hippies and psycodelics buy Piper at the Gates of dawn. The album that just get airplay once in a month, is a Saucerful of Secrets, and the one that I never play is the leftovers from the wall, The Final Cut. Live albums: Ummagumma, Delcate sound of thunder and Pulse Stay away from the film music. Others: Roger Waters: The Wall in Berlin with lots of stars(Bryan Adams, Cindy Lauper, Van Morrison and I do belive Roger Waters is in there), RW: Amused to Death, amazing album I love this one, Jeff Beck on guitars is almost up there with Gilmour(don't kill me for that) David Gilmour: About Face(not the A-Team), a pretty decent album with lots of guitars and 80'stuff. The rest you can forget. Time to sign of, if there is anything you would like to know about Floyd, ask Ph.PF. JCB email_address_removed is my adresse. Have a summer. I just wanted to comment about Portnoy's drumming in LTE2, especially on When the Water Breaks. The guy is just insane. I remember thinking that Mark Zonder was my favorite drummer because of those incredibly creative rhythms, and thinking "why doesn't Portnoy play more peculiar stuff like this?" (no offense, Mike). But what a pleasant surprise it was when I listened to When the Water Breaks. At the beginning (and later at the end again) Portnoy does an incredible Mark Zonder impersonation (he's not copying Zonder, but he definitely plays in that same incredible style). That's all I needed to hear to convince myself of Mike's incredible ability. I just hope that this creativity continues into everything else he writes, because i love it. Keep it up Mike! By the way, everything about LTE2 rules. Changing topics, isn't it weird how at first everybody just worships a band and then comes the period when everybody says "they're not THAT great"? I'm referring to the recent comments about Dali's Dilemma. I don't know, but I personally still worship them. I think Manifesto is an incredible CD with excellent everything (I'm not talking about production and sound quality, since i'm not very picky about that). If they keep it up, I think they have DT status possibilities in the future. Lastly, Silent Scream from Royal Hunt's Paradox just rules!!! What a great song. And so is Gentle Change from Angra's Fireworks. Amazing. Alexis _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Is this the same Pat Thrall that used to play guitar in Pat Travers' band? I think he also played guitar for Meatloaf at some point as well. Just curious. Second, I haven't seen anyone mention the VH1 "Where are they now?" show that covered Winger. I caught part of it on Sunday night. It talked about what Kip was up to these days, and went on to talk about Rod Morganstein. They showed him entering into Berklee, where he teaches (they called him Professor Morganstein!). It went on to show him with a group of kids all drumming with their hands on their legs (pretty funny to watch). Then they briefly mentioned that recently Rod had teamed up with keyboard virtuoso Jordon Rudess for their RMP CD and quickly gave a shot of the CD cover. They didn't mention anything about Platypus, though..and I was thoroughly disappointed. Just thought it was cool that they actually mentioned JR in there, although they didn't go into any more about JR joining DT. I guess that would have been really going off on a tangent. "RM played with JR, who recently joined DT, to replace DS, who played with RM on their Platypus project..." LTE II does indeed kick ass. When the Water Breaks is fantastic. I can't wait until Oct. for the new DT!! Keep 'jammin'!
