Just curious. and then he said .... :) > -- check out my mp3s -- > http://members.xoom.com/el_trento Now why he would be curious? ;o) *--* And now for something completely diferent *--* I had kinda fight with a friend on the King Cromson issue! :) We both don't know much of their music, we heard 1, 2 albums and that's all! BUT, my concept about King Crimson is very different that his! .... The topic was : WHAT IS KING CRIMSON TRADEMARK SOUND, MUSIC??? >From what I know, and from what I could read on the jam sicne I'm on it, .. it seems to me that King Crimson trademark music and the thing for which they're famous in the prog world are albums liek Discipline! I have only this KC album and I LOVE IT! He hates it! :) I bought him Thrak for birthday (I just heard it a little in the store, I don't know the album otherwise) and he hated it too! Now Thrak is really weird stuff but has some few very cool prog songs! He's deadly sure that REAL King Crimson are those at the beginning, with Keith Emerson on keys 'n stuff, the 1-st album "In the court of KC" etc .. He says King Crimson trademark sound are keyborads, Greg Lake, saxophones and I say that tademark KC are Robert Fripp and Adrian Belew weird guitars, Levin etc ... EXACTLY music like Discipline! Discipline is really some new music, weird, innovative. But c'mon, Lake left after the 1-st album and ... KC and saxophone or keyborads???? I heard that album only twice, I don't recall at all, but what I remember is that the only song with prog elements is 21st Century Schizoid Man! :( Not that others are bad songs, but they aren't so prog IMHO. They're nice tunes in the manner of Camel. Also whenever I read KC praisings on the jam Discipline was included so .. So, who's right? :) Also, if I like Discipline and if I like the tracks VROOM, Dinosaur, People and Sex Sleep Eat Drink Dream from Thrak - which albums I should get first? -- CyberDuke ________________________________________ "Lisa, get away from that jazzer!" - Simpsons ________________________________________ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 Jun 1999 18:10:19 +0200 From: "Sasha" To: "Ytsejam Mailing List" Subject: Dominic Miller? This project was originally scheduled to take place in December 1998, with Jim Matheos of Fates Warning on guitar, but got put on the shelf due to the postponement of the Liquid Tension Experiment 2 recordings. Mike Portnoy, Neal Morse and Pete Trewavas will be entering the studio with Flower Kings guitarist Roine Stolt at the end of June for approximately one week. There is no title for this project yet. Also in June, Mike will be playing on a few tracks on Andy West's solo album (bassplayer of the Dixie Dregs). Mike is merely being hired as a "session player", so this should not be seen as new side project. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 Jun 1999 13:08:46 EDT From: email_address_removed To: email_address_removed Subject: Re: METAL on MTV! For starters, someone (Nick Bogovich, perhaps?) mentioned that Bahr had tried to pass off some material as DT music when it in fact was not. I'm aware that this is the case with the "Autumn Moon" piece on Scenes from a Memory; has he done this anywhere else? I always found it difficult to believe that the horrendous acoustic piece on Subconscious titled "Experimental" was actually Myung. I've already posted about my cool experience playing LTE for some friends of mine that I met while at this theatre festival, but I'm going home on Sunday and while I'm there, I'm going to pick up the copy of LTE2 that has been sitting in the cardboard delivery package collecting dust for the past week and bring it back with me.
