Sure, I'd like DT to get more $$ so that we can have nice DT products like DT DVD, John Myung action figures with the tae kwon do (sp?) grip, Nike Air Petrucci hiking boots, or Derek Sherinian Underoos... well maybe not the Underoos. I don't know if your trying to say that I personally want it both ways. I don't think I do. I guess my question(s) is/are...do we care enough about DT getting more airplay to petition for things like Headbanger's Ball? Do we give a damn about MTV bringing us OFB, metal, prog, or whatever? Or are we content to let DT have the status they have? Obviously, people have been moved to petition for the recording and release of ACOS. I guess another way to state what I'm thinking is the following: Assuming that there is enough of a metal appreciation/following or even a prog following to make it profitable for MTV to air those genres, do we give a damn if they do? I don't. I guess I'm willing to forego the opportunity to by my Air Petrucci hiking boots to let MTV die. Consider it my personal sacrifice to rid the planet of that cancer and its cousins. But, of course, that point of view doesn't get at the fact that the more DT CDs move off the shelves, the better OFB can support their families. They just have more room to pay for the kids' educations, make the minivan payments, or whatever. I would assume that goes for every other near-unknown band or artist that people on this list are interested in. Of course, it would be nice for those things to happen for those families and individuals. Hopefully, DT and others will survive without MTV. But...if MTV dies, might people not be forced into being more open-minded about music? Well...maybe not. I don't know. Lucifer's Friend's first album was actually released in '73, but Al was close enough. I found a copy of _Where Groupies Killed the Blues_ as an import in my local Tower several months back. As I recognized the name of the group from reading the liner notes of Uriah Heep's Innocent Victim (John Lawton was in both groups), I picked it up, and have been searching for other albums by LF. So far, no luck. I've also unsuccessfully looked for Lawton's new group Gunhill. Any info is greatly appreciated. According to Scott Welch, Morissette's manager at Atlas/Third Rail Entertainment, although it will be his client who will close the co-headlining affair nightly, both singers will be on equal footing. "Usually in a show with an opening act situation, they use the same lights and same production," Welch explained in a press conference regarding the tour on Tuesday (April 27) at Hotel Nikko in Beverly Hills, Calif. "We're taking it a step further. Tori is going to have her own stage set. So when you see her set, it's going to look like you've gone to a Tori show. It's going to have her signature on it, and the same with Alanis."
