Message-ID: <000201be8224$149b2ce0$4e0d84d0@default> Part 4: What REALLY happened with Derek... As far as what happened with Derek goes, there were absolutely no hard feeling and it was a very hard thing for us to do. All four of us really admire him and like him as a person, and it was a hard thing to do to let him go. But, it was really just a business decision we decided that Jordan was what we wanted and where we wanted to take the band in the future. After John and I worked with him we thought why should we work with him part time, let's work with him full-time. And it wasn't out of disrespect to Derek, it was just what we thought was better for the band. And if we didn't give ourselves that opportunity to try it, we would feel short-changed. It's not like some of our previous members that never went on to do anything, sort of just disappeared, ot did very low-key things. Derek has always played with great people, he's always got great gigs, he knows alot of people so, we're confident he'll continue his career playing with whomever. There were no hard feelings, and honest I'm not bullshitting. There's no other story behind it! Everyone saw the press release and went "What's the real story?" But what the press release says is the real story; there's nothing else behind it. Hey, I'm a procrastinator. I'm only a week late with April Fools. :) -- KorgX3 congratulates Mike on his diplomacy. They have tons of shit, lots of black metal and all the power/prog bands. I picked up NIGHTWISH's 'Angels Fall First' and SYMPHONY X's 'Damnation Game' both USED for $17 total. NIGHTWISH is awesome. It takes a second to adjust to opera vocals. Great atmosphere and playing. Pick this album up. I need to find 'Oceanborn' now. They can use stronger male singing, that guy should stick with playing his instrument. ALso, another guitar will help thicken the guitar sound a little. The Symhpony X is pretty good. Nothing really to get too excited about. If I heard this a few years ago, I would have been really excited. Great playing but too similar to MALMSTEEN and STRATOVARUIS, etc. I also read a rumor that said DIO would play with SABBATH/OZZY on their final show in LA. I almost wish I hadn't posted the question though. Thats because its brought on this whole debate about whether certain bands are prog or not prog. I just don't see the point of all the classifying, a good band is a good band, no matter what the label. Also, that person who totally trashed Queensryche, there is no point to that either. Its fine for you to not like a band, but you shouldn't just blatantly trash a band. Oh well, thanks again to the people who replied. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 8 Apr 1999 22:15:48 EDT From: email_address_removed To: email_address_removed Subject: OT: CD for Trade Message-ID: Hello. Isn't it absolutely sick, don't you think? *in his perfect Alanis voice* I think many of us are like this. We listen to these real talented bands and such and it's an incredibly strong bond between all of us die-hards. It's like if I see someone walking down the road wearing a DT shirt, it's like instant friendship. Even though there are times when I've walked up to someone wearing an Awake shirt and said "Nice shirt" they just think I'm gay and hitting on them, most of the time people get all excited to hear it mentioned. I wear a Majesty button on my hat as an open invite for any DT fans to come up and say, "Hey, kickass!" :) I think it's a little sick and something of a disgusting psycological disorder. Almost narcissistic in a way. And in the end, it's kind of cool. We're elitists or something. :) It's kind of like how I feel some sort of strange understanding between any scumbags I see with long hair around here. Maybe it's just because there are so few of us, that we feel we need to stick together. Maybe it's not sick, but simply instinctive. Anyway, I've gotta head to work. I'll let that thought just sit in there and bounce around fot the day. -- KorgX3 thinks lesbians make great pillows. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 9 Apr 1999 09:23:17 -0400 From: "Emerson, Michael J." I would be glad if some of you could post me your thoughts about the song, the music, the text. I would like to have many different interpretations to give the class an idea where to start. Otherwise i think there is maybe no discussion. You can post me privatly Gregor+AEA-rz-online.de or to the list, but i need your comments until monday.
