Well. I don't know how WFS came about, but it was the first DT song that
really clicked with me. I bought the cd not having heard any of the songs,
and was quite surprised with what it was. My only complaint about Images
and Words, is that Wait For Sleep is too short. Come on. Not like DT can't
throw out a long song.

Hey people!
  I just d/led some MP3's from Evolution?'s webpage [

they sound pretty damn good! I've chatted a bit with their drummer Mike 
(coinsidence? i think not) and hes pretty kewl too, so like, go check them 
out and stuff! If I like it then SOMONE else on here probably will. They're 
heavier than DT, but their singer actually sings. '(Intorduction To) 
Corruption' is the longest song, at 9+ minutes. Give em a shot! And, no I am 
not a member of this band, but merely an independant listener :}

Sorry, I only meant "intro" in terms of the music.  Yes, the lyrics have
nothing to do with LtL, but the music is all just parts from the end of LtL.

  Yeah, I ordered the video.  It's quite good.  It talked abut a lot of
stuff I already knew, but I've been playing for a long long time (at least
for my age).  And a lot of it was very helpful in just recently breaking
me out of the musical rut that I've been in recently.  So, yes.  All in
all, I'd say it's definitely worth it.

Well.. I think Kevin's point was that they are two completely different
songs which have nothing to do with eachother musically or lyrically
(besides the obvious). Seeing that Kevin basically wrote all of WFS himself
(it's only piano and vocals) then my guess would be that the solo in LTL is
made up of parts from WFS and not the other way around... Then again that
could just be my mind responding to the way WFS comes on before LTL ;) Kevin
had a tendency on both I&W and Awake to become obsessed with a keyboard line
and use it over and over (or maybe he simply thought it gave the albums a
common thread).. I guess my point is that I don't think either song is an
intro to eachother (though I used to.. and it does sound like it on the cd)
and that is simply another case of the "reusable riff phenomenon".

Twilight in Olympus NOT progressive... both albums albums have taken 
prog to new hights; twilight being technical and APSoG conceptual..

Not that I advocate the use of recreational chemicals, But if one could

  For one thing, I agree with this, and for another, goddamm, we've 
all heard these songs in some form or another; am I the only one who 
is more curious about how DT's compositions will change with Rudess 
around than anything else?!?  Listen to the bootlegs, and let's let

Hey, I had a cool DT moment earlier today.  I was at work (in the
Columbia (MO) Mall) when I overheard a girl saying something about what I
thought was Dream Theater.  I immediately stopped and said "what did you
just say" and she told me.  She said her ex-boyfriend, or something like
that, was practically in love with the band, so I was like "hell yeah."
:)  Nothing really substantial, but it was cool hearing someone else
mention them withouth me starting the conversation.

Part 4: What Happened With Derek?

Derek was a full scale drug addict and was gay and we didn't think his image
suited the band.  He also sucked at keyboards and we had a hard time trying
to play with him live because everything he played live was totally
sequenced.  So in turn we just bagged his ass and sent him packing as soon
as Jordan was available!  As you can tell we got the better end of the
bargain!

I'm too lazy to spell-check or proof that or anything, but that's it.

I have ordered the video and am patiently waiting for its arrival.
Unfortunately my review may not be valid since I only have one half of the
thing to go by: the audio, since I can't see the video, but hopefully there
won't be too many visual examples in the thing. If so, i will just have to
have Jordan come to my house and show me personally. :) Stay tuned, a
review is coming once I get it. Also, stay tuned, I went on a CD buying
frenzy and bought three spock's beard CDs, U.K.'s first CD,a nd Ivanhoe's
CDs. Can't wait. Also got the elp tribute album and Royal Hunt's latest and
Shadow Gallery's latest and will probably do a bulk review for everybody
when everything comes in.
