Right when the guitar first comes in after the keys like 5 seconds into the song, that's the first part of the cool band unison part of CiaW reworked a little and put in a diff't key. Also, the first few chords by the keys are reminiscent of the Innocence Faded outro (I might be stretching a bit here, though). I actually haven't noticed the silent man part, but I'll look for it. but that's all that I've noticed. Message-ID: Hey, I already replied to Arash personally, but I just *have* to get rid of some comments here: Yes, get Relayer. One of my all-time-favorites. Very irritating sometimes, but incredible songs and playing. Especially Patrick Moraz is all over this album. It's a shame that it was his only work with Yes. Get Going for the One, and if it's just for Awaken. This church organ is killing me! Get The Yes Album, it has some nice stuff, and is the album where Yes started to show off. And finally get Drama. Maybe the most underrated Yes album. Just because Anderson isn't singing doesn't mean it isn't a great Yes album! It's quite accessible, has great songwriting and some great playing. Not the kind of mad and crazy playing like on Relayer, but solid and groovy. No fascinating classic like CTTE or Relayer, but a lot better stuff than Tormato or some 80s albums... I caught Two Ton Shoe Friday night at Berklee Performance Center. This is the Dave Dicenso now plays drums for. Some of you probably remember me mentioning how sick he was in Jon Finn's band. The parting was not on bad terms, Dave has just moved on to do his own thing now. Well, Dave blew the roof off again Friday night playing funk. Progressive and a solid groove with a fusion edge to it. Chad Smith from the Red Hot Chili Peppers came out and played a couple of tunes, then he and Dave did this dueling drummer jam. Dave showed an incredible amount of class holding back. Chad's a good drummer, I'm not slagging him at all, he had some cool cymbal stuff happenin'. Dave is fucking scary!!!! They're playing some gigs this week in PA and VA: April 8 at Grape Street April 9 at Bad Habits April 10 at Fat Tuesday's Even if you aren't a FUNK fan, at least go check out Dave on drums. The best songs on Union are really composed and performed by what was called Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, Howe. So before Union, I would recommend the first ABWH album. It's a very good Yes album. ;o) On the subject of Remastering: I think that sometimes it's a money making issue, just another way to get you to purchase. Are there any Black Crowes fans out there? They have re-released their entire catalog as remasters with additional tracks. These were fairly recent recordings! What are they saying? They screwed up the first time?! I don't know who's responsible for those re-releases, but it's pretty cheap and cheesy... Of course the other great rip off in practice today is to release a "greatist hits" disc, and add one or two new songs. Great way to stick it to your long time fans who already have all of your other recording. Make them buy a disc for just 2 songs. My favorite trick is when a band releases a boxed set with all the hits, some not so big hits, unreleased tunes and some "new" songs. Generally speaking, the amount of new and unreleased songs could fit on a single disc... which makes you question why the band wouldn't throw together a compilation for those songs and release them outside the boxed set. This would make the boxed set cost less and be less of a target for diehard fans that would only buy the thing for the unreleased and new songs. If you want my recommendation, I say get Relayer, The Yes Album, and Going for the One.
