It'd also be cool if Myung was more aggressive on his bass, like Les Claypool or something. :) Hm. James LaBrie is cool and all. Derek is in Wayne's World. you can see him stage a few times. and thanks the my 4-head VCR, i saw him in the dressing room. You have to pause and go frame by frame cause it's real quick. he's sitting in the chair right in front of wayne. I guess he did get the L.A. lifestyle going on that one. Day For Night is a great album like the 3 other albums. The style is a mix between "Beware Of Darkness" and "The Kindness" with some new and fresh sounds. The title track is a typical beard song. "Gibberish" is a great song in the terms of "Thoughts". The epic 20 min "Healing Colors Of The Sound" is really good, but I prefer songs like "Flow", "Time Has Come" or "The Wather". Anway, IMO the best song on the album is "Crack The Big Sky" which is one of my favorite Beard songs ever. It's a 10 min prog song which has everthing. The awesome chours reminds me of "The Doorway". I love it. I really liked "June" from "The Kindness.." but the wounderful new song "The Distance To The Sun" is just incredible. A beautifull 3 vocal ballade with some Pink Floyd influences. Just awesome. Overall a great album and I'm sure most of you will enjoy it too. P.S. The limited edition Europe version has a bonus track which is a cover song called "Hurt". It's a 70's hard rock song. WOW this surely is one of the best releases, if not THE best of this year (and maybe of 1998 also). Tarja's vocals are just divine. Technically it's a perfect album, AND (and this is quite exceptional) it even moved me emotionally. Rhapsody-like, but more prog en less sympho IMO. Go get this stuff. On another note: what is this Gordian Knot thing? I've heard alot of it, I know that it's not a shredfest, but what style is it then? And what albums do they have? Or am I just a dummy?:-) Message-ID: Okay, I barely dare ask this... For a rather long time now, it says in the faq that, covering the re-usable riff phenomenon, Erotomania is made up of riffs of other songs. Now ever since I read this (about 2 years ago), I tried and find those snippets that appear in other songs (well maybe not all the time 'ever since', but hey I surely took my time looking for them). Anyway, I (obviously) noticed the Silent Man melody line, but that's about it. At the risk of making an incredible fool of myself: could someone enlighten me on this one? Posting to the list is probably not necessary as most of you smart-asses already have found what I haven't, but any private mails are surely appreciated. I'm sure this has been documented somewhere, but I just thought I'd brag a little. Just after 2:00 of track 5 on the second disc (Last Caress/Green Hell) you can plainly hear in the left channel someone accidentally toss in James just randomly shouting "Green Hell!" It does NOT belong there. Listen to it and you'll believe me. ;) I'm thinking I'm right, but I know there's quite a few Metallicaphiles on the list that will know for sure. Again, I'm not claiming to have found anything NEW. It just was a rumor and nobody ever said exactly where it was. UNTIL NOW!!! ;) Enjoy scanning!
