Once we even played a suite where one part was written entirely in wither 9/4 or 9/8, I can't remember. It's not always like 3 measures of 3/8 stuck together, which is basically like a measure of 3/4 with each beat composed of triplets. Most of the time I encountered measures of 9, they were either 4+5 or 5+4, not 3+3+3. As for Century Media, they have an extensive online catalogue. I browser though it for 10 minutes and didn't reach the end. I found Awake for $8, which I thought was amusing. but the downside is this is one of those places where you may have to wait 6-8 weeks for delivery. ~~Amanda ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 19 Mar 1999 18:29:41 -0800 From: email_address_removed (Dr. Mosh) To: email_address_removed Subject: Re: nazis Message-ID: Before being sacrificed upon the altar..., Joshua Rasiel thus begged: > >Now, I think it's pretty unlikely that QR is a nazi band. Of course, I've had good luck finding CM releases at Rasputin's in Campbell, so maybe I won't have to go the MO route anyway. Although the CDs are more expensive in the store. Hmm, I think my indecisive yammer has probably annoyed many of you, so I'll stop now. Well, actually, I won't. I saw that there might be an Angra tour. While I think this is great, I can't believe the band would come all this way, as unless you're really plugged into the metal underground of the internet, there's no way you've heard of them. I can't see how the band will make any money on such a tour, unless CM or some other company has huge promotional plans. Just my feeble thoughts. I should have said "has always traditionally gone 1-2-3 1-2-3 1-2-3" and not what I really did say. However, I WILL say this much: If you're reading something in 9/8, I'll give you dollars to doughnuts that it will probably be a three-beat feel in triplets. Technically, if you're going to be writing something different, you should be using a different sig. For instance, if you want it to sound 1-2-3-4-5 1-2-3-4 or something, you'd write it as 5/8 4/8 (one of those Godawful double time-sigs - I hate 'em). ------------------------------------------------- Andrew Coutermarsh email_address_removed http://cout.ml.org/ ICQ: 2513441 ------------------------------------------------- FOR SALE: One parachute, used but unopened. Well, if listening to Queensryche dredges up painful memories of your visit to Auschewitz, I'm sorry, but I have to agree with everyone else that says "reich" is only a word and not an event. Say "Third Reich" and I'll say nazi's. Say "Queensryche" and I'll say bees.
