What is the name of the band that wrote it? Same > name? When was it released. It's actually Devin Townsend thru and thru, but he formed a band to record it and called it Ocean Machine. The album is entitled "Biomech". Released in 1997. Will kick a lot of butt in 2007 and 2017 as well. I strongly suggest getting both "Biomech" and "Infinity" (which he released under his own name). Can't go wrong. I honestly believe he's surpassing his former guitarist Steven S. Vai in the talent department. (And I am a huge Vai fan myself.) I think you can order about anything by Devin off his website, the URL to which has been posted here many a time in past few days. ========================================================================= Raivo Hool kontor raitz@estcard.ee ICQ 19980975 isiklik raitz@ircnet.ee Windows NT administraator istuv (+372) 6 711 450 Pankade Kaardikeskus liikuv (+372) 51 43 567 ========================================================================= ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 04 Mar 1999 02:35:05 -0600 From: "Al @ Switchcraft" To: retaehT maerD Subject: Doctor Doctor give me the news... Specially if you dont like growly vocals ( which i do like, since i love Opeth, InFlames,Dark Tranquility ETc.) I cant really describe the differences, only to say that Velvet is heavier, and it has a lot of silly sounding(imo of course) piano the only advice i can give you is to give a listen first..before buying...but i think other people on this list can give you a better description. Imagine Ray's voice on much of the "Inside Out" cd, and that's the range to which I refer. It was bothering me, and now it doesn't. By the way, Labyrinth is often described as a "Stratovarius-type" band, but I think they are a tad bit more original, even if Jens is a darn good keyboard player (smack, smack). To the best of my knowledge: They're finishing up their third Trans-Siberian Orchestra disc, which is called "Beethoven's Last Night". I believe Jon Oliva has begun writing(or will be shortly) their next Savatage album. I heard RUMORS that it's tentatively titled "Poets and Madmen". More RUMORS; Jon and Zak MAY split the singing duties 50-50 (personally I hope Zak handles most of them), and the album is supposedly going to be much heavier than the last few. Also it's NOT going to be another concept disc, since the last 5 discs Jon has written were concepts (DWD, TWoM, and the three TSO releases). -- - Joe D. aka Magellan email_address_removed ICQ # 1872723 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I swear on tomorrow- If you take this chance- Our lives are this moment The music, the dance- And here in this labyrinth- Of lost mysteries I close my eyes on this night- And you're all that I see - Savatage, from "Not What You See" ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of YTSEJAM Digest 4719 **************************
