One part of APSOG, somewhere in the middle (dunno now the exact place) sounds TOO SIMILAR to Pink Floyd - Signs of Life (from "Momentary Lapse of Reason" album). :) The part where key chord is playing in the background and clean guitar does some cool fills. Very similar. Even more, not only the mod is the same but also the guitar fills are played same way as that PF song, hitting 2 strings for the fills! Yep, you're right about that. 'A fortune in lies' is one of their greatest song ever IMO (even though I don't like WDADU that much because of Charlie's voice) and I get disappointed every time I hear the intro for 'AFIL' on OIALT and that's it... The cure for the disappointment is to play 'Live at the Marquee' afterwards :-) /Thomas ________________________________________________________________________ Nostalgia ain't what it used to be... ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Feb 1999 13:40:09 +0100 From: "Gallop, Neil" To: email_address_removed Subject: Napalm Death/A Request Message-ID: This message is in MIME format. First off, I'd like to apologise in advance for the MIME crap that will probably be at the end of this posting. It's nothing to do with me, it has to do with our new exchange server, and our "specialists" are looking into it. Just come back from my first trip to the UK for nearly three years (fuck, beer has got expensive). In the bar on Thursday evening I saw some hairy, metal-type guys that I thought I recognized, so I went over for a chat. Sure enough, it was who I thought it was - Napalm Death. Spent a couple of pints chatting to them about this and that - really nice, normal guys. Barney said to say hello to the boys in the band. And no, they didn't smash up the hotel. Next morning, Barney came over to our table for another chat over breakfast. He also asked me to say hallo to any fans in Frankfurt and in Hamburg. Now my request: I've got 4-5 reviews ready to fire off to the jam, but I don't want to piss everybody off by filling everything up with MIME gunk. Would anybody here be willing to let me send the reviews to them personally, so that they can be forwarded to the list? Reply to me in person. (It was the import copy with the extra tracks which they had a hard time getting more of.) All I can say about this cd is "damn!" I absolutely love everything about this cd. Lyrics, artwork and most of all, the music is just great. Thanks to the people on the jam for telling me about them. How are the rest of their albums? I've seen this instrument referred to as Warr guitar as well, I assume named after the dude who makes them, and I've even seen picturey of Trey with this instrument. I was wondering if any jammers could let me know exactly what this instrument is like, how is it played...I get the impression that it's some sort of a chapman stick, but like a guitar instead of a bass...I really don't know, figured some of you might. Also, years ago in Guitar World there was a Steve Vai feature with his "10 hour guitar workout"...does anyone have that one? I'd like to get a copy of that 10 hour routine, so if anyone can help me out that would be great. Later.
