Message-ID: I agree with Korg's assertion that MTV would probably just air some kind of stupid marathon instead of Total Request Live. I remember a couple years ago, the Queensryche newsgroup (was it Screaming In Digital?) sent out a chain letter thing with the intention to bombard MTV's request show with demands to have the Anybody Listening? video played. I believe that they played a Beavis and Butt-Head marathon that day instead. A very subtle sort of insult that I wouldn't have believed MTV capable of. ---------- My millionaire friend bought his bitch a Kurzweil keyboard last week and I got to screw around with it last night. Whoever it was that said that it has an awesome piano sound is right on the money. Hearing that through headphones and closing my eyes, I could almost believe I was playing one. The bass sound as well (can't remember the name of the sound) just rules...it almost sounds like you can hear finger attack on strings. Hellaciously cool piece of work. -Rahul Ananda ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Feb 1999 14:20:35 -0500 From: "Bernard, Chris" To: "'email_address_removed'" Subject: RE: The Real World; F1 Message-ID: <18DB7F3D6363D1119B080060083FF42C4765BE@PFC_EXCH01> Trevor Hoit wrote: >"On the next Real World: Matt goes skydiving and scares the hell out of his dog." I turned him on to prog a few months after "Awake" came out and he's definitely now a die-hard progger. Since then, we've both always talked about how cool it would be to get a TV series (live-action or animated) on the air that featured the best of prog metal as its soundtrack. In the last issue of Images & Words MP and JLB were interviewed. JLB said that he had been listening to Gino Vannelli. For all of you old enough to remember, Vannelli put out some great drum oriented music in the late 70's and early 80's. My idea is to have DT to cover Vannelli's "War Suite" from the "Gist of the Gemini" recording. I think they could really kick ass with this. For those of you not familiar with Vannelli check out "Storm at Sunup" or "Gist of the Gemini". There's a little menu item in Winamp somewhere (I'm not sure where) that says "Remove ID3 tag for this item" or some such. That's all you need to do. There may be some other way to remove the tags, but I've never had a need to do it, so I don't know. ------------------------------------------------- Andrew Coutermarsh email_address_removed http://cout.ml.org/ ICQ: 2513441 ------------------------------------------------- I love defenseless animals, especially in good gravy. ------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Feb 1999 00:44:08 EST From: email_address_removed To: email_address_removed Subject: Symph X review | breakthrough | Nevermore Message-ID: >< SYMPHONY X - The Divine Wings of Tragedy I loved the harmonies they worked, especially on Track 3 (sorry, don't have the CD here, so I can't remember the name). >< Out Of the Ashes. 'Cause I was gonna check Nevermore out, but if Warren Dane's the singer, I definitely will not. I have this Sanctuary song called "Battle Angels." It's off some compilation album, Thrash Patrol. Battle Angels is not a good representation of his vocals... although I doubt you'll ever find it, Into the Mirror Black is a metal milestone... one of metal's best in my opinion... the music is really heavy (not thrash or speed outright) and Warrel's vocals tear up...
