See, you don't get it. If I were "crying to mommy," as you so eloquently put it, I would have been bitching to Skadz. If you're going to be a moron, at least please attempt to think your analogies through. This will be my last public contribution, because it's pointless. -Brian ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 25 Jan 1999 23:59:06 -0500 From: Lobsterback To: email_address_removed Subject: ELO / Nearfest Message-ID: >Wow! According to Jerry Lucky's definition, ELO is prog. Alert the media. Check out the boxed set "Supernatural Fairy Tales -- The Progressive Rock Years". Tony played his stick for the entire show, and had several spots during the show when the spotlight (metaphorically speaking) was on him and he kicked. But none of this compared to the jam he and Mike did--partly planned, it seemed, but definitely partly improvised--the interplay between the two of them was soooooooo cool. Mike played with plastic tubes instead of drum sticks. >< I was wondering what those were. I think he was holding the hot rods upside down. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 26 Jan 1999 01:11:53 -0500 From: email_address_removed To: undisclosed-recipients:; Subject: I rule :) Message-ID: and don't forget it ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 25 Jan 1999 22:14:15 PST From: "Trent Thornton" To: email_address_removed Subject: Re: My favoritest bands because you really care... Message-ID: Hey folks We found out who suggested the new DT List and that person is email_address_removed so, before finally departing this list we would like to offer suggestions for the content of the new list so that everyone who is interested can be involved. We think it should be a music 'information station' with a positive vibe. (1) Mainly about Dream Theater and their music, but also news/information about other bands/solo acts and ex-members of bands. (2) Nothing long winded, post in sections (part 2 next time, etc) or give a website address where further info can be found by those interested. (3) Encourage musos themselves to post info (or those who run their websites) eg Mike Portnoy about gigs, other projects, albums, etc. (4) Female musos to be encouraged to participate, whatever their age and inexperience, so they can learn more without being bitched at and told to shut up. We need yin and yang! (5) Info on rock and muso magazines and extracts of articles, worldwide (with website info). (6) Post details of mp3, boots, music gear (mainly website addresses?) (7) Related info (books, films, conventions, tribute bands, etc) to be included. (8) Info about good music other than prog/rock to be included eg., if Madonna does a great album which she just has. (9) Have a regular 'non-profit' exchange forum for musical rarities etc, 'I'll show you mine if you show me yours'. (10) Absolutely no Bitche Jam flaming of artists or members of the list. The person who runs the list should have plenty of TIME and INTEREST available to police it and send a warning at the FIRST SIGN of a Bitche Jam thread. However, we don't suggest a censored (moderated) list. After receiving a reply from Mike Portnoy himself (who receives copyright for the name Bitche Jam) we would like to add something to the suggestions we made in 'A New DT List' Perhaps we could retrieve the Majesty of the Ytsejam and get back along the lines suggested in our first message? All those in favour say Aye! Plus, yeah it would be a good idea to compile results of fave band lists, are you still willing email_address_removed? Finally, a 'faq consortium' is a good idea and perhaps Skadz would also like some help in maintaining the list to its best advantage? Ideas? You should start paying more attention to details. I made it clear how much it sucked not to have those songs on Falling Into Infinity (as we all know), so - here it cometh - it would suck just as much not to have those RESPECTIVE new songs on the new album just because one long tune (that's not entirely new anyway) takes up all that space. I wasn't talking about having Falling Into Infinity B-sides on the new, upcoming album, which, given time and effort, should be pretty obvious.
