Not to mention the fact that the first time I heard the piano on Love Lies Bleeding I almost cheesed myself it was so impressive. I wish nothing but the best for him and I'd like to know if anyone else knows what he may be going to work on. As for Madonna, her accent isn't english at all...she is attempting to lose her accent she picked up in New "Yawk" Her album Ray of Light is incredible, probably the best song off of that is The Power of Goodbye (followed by Frozen). The only REALLY annoying thing is that they make dance mixxes of every frigging song that becomes a hit for her, whether the song _should_ be a mix or not. (Let's not thread this talk) Her lastest is definately a far cry from the bubble-gum she played in the early 80's. My take on femal musicians...There are plenty out there that are talented. Indigo Girls - good acoustic players, good emotional songwriters and they have some pretty original vocal arrangements. Sarah McLachlan - awesome songwriter, piano player and guitar player. She might not shred but she still plays her type of music damn good. Loreena McKennitt - Unparalleled songwriting, she plays the harp accordian, piano and guitar and has the voice of an angel. Worship her. Melissa Etheridge - good guitar player and about damn time she just started singing lesbian songs...like the record company thought nobody knew. Jewel - First album has an absolute horrible mix but live she kicked ass. The second album is great except for the preachy song about the fat kid. (Fat Boy, track #8) Ok, so ends the rant...almost Graham Boyle hopefully jested: --- NO WAY Manson is a guy ? C'mon your kidding me ? Wow, I had no idea, I guess I'll be taking down all those sexy MM posters from my wall. Manson is way too sexy too be a man.... --- Man, I REALLY hope you're kidding. Here's a little about Badi Assad, from an brazilian jammer :) You're very right about Badi Assad, she's an extremely talented acoustic player and actually she's married to ex-Megadeth guitar player Jeff Young (from the So far, so good ...so what ERA) whom played and helped composing her latest effort CHAMALEON (Polygram), maybe some of you guys saw Badi on Takamine ads, she has an extremely busy schedulle, mostly touring in Europe and Asia and actually she lives in America. A few months back she had problems with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome on her left hand, but she's under treatment. Badi is the youngest child in a family of well know musicians, she's has 2 brothers that played in duet, an act called DUO ASSAD who were very known worldwide, she's an person very related to the nature, to the dance and thinks that music and body should become one thing, but it's a shame that her career is mostly recognized outside of Brazil Badi released 5 albums, the very first one is a brazilian only release and it is out of print, but orders can be placed on the official web site... www.badi.com there you can check her bio, discography and there's a good amount of merchandise (even videos and live cassetes are sold...), actually all orders must be paid through money orders or checks, but soon a credit card system will be set up.. Fans of cool music, filled with brazilian rhythms, lots of cool acoustic sounds - should check this great brazilian musician www.badi.com Hope this help !! Is this real? I guess so... This must be the biggest news I've ever seen announced on the YML... Derek leaving DT... He sure will be missed... He gave DT a new keyboard sound, that more 'jazzy', improvisational, free style that is so clear on OIAL... And Jordan joining DT! Wow what a surprise! I guess he will head DT back into the Kevin Moore type of synth-sounds... I dunno... This is so exciting... Not the fact that Derek is leaving... But the fact that they immediately announced his replacement, JR, makes me wanna hear the new album right now!! This surely is a change of seasons... Musical DT Chairs? *grumbles* Sorry, > email_address_removed, but I don't support this move in the least. :( I guess we all will have to get used to the idea that it's probably not as much DT changing keyboard players, like in 'firing Derek'... Probably Derek felt it would be better if they parted ways... Maybe he didn't think of DT anymore what he thought when he joind OFB... Sorta like when Kevin left... I don't think it's fair to blame Mike for that... He can't do anything about it... I can't imagine Derek and the rest of the band NOT to part ways as friends... If you wanna blame Mike or anyone else for changing keyboard players, you also gotta blame Derek for deciding to leave. Second, I think many of us are schocked reading all of this, it came so totally unexpected. But there's nothing we can do about it. We gotta give Jordan the chance he deserves. Also, I think Jordan will be much easier accepted than Derek (although I never had a problem with him, on the contrary). A lot of DT-fans know Jordan already because of his work with LTE. I never ever heard a bad review of that album (or of Jordan's playing for that matter). In fact many suggested that he would've been the better choice when Kevin left (although I don't want to state an opinion when it comes to that issue). Jordan also has another musical background than Derek. A background that some of the 'old' DT-fans will please more than Derek's did. Anyway... It's a sad thing that Derek leaves so unexpectedly, and I really don't want to cheer joy about that, don't get me wrong... Derek was as much a member of DT to me as is Mike or KJLB... Especially since I saw him live, I learned to respect and love him... I think many of us will give OIAL a couple of turns, because that's where his talent really stands out... I on the other hand am thrilled. No it's not cuz I think derek is a jerk or that I think his playing isn't quite representative of what DT stands for, it's cuz DT made a move towards what THEY want. I mean who knows what line up will work better than DT. I think we all should be happy for them considering they have chosen a Keys player they think really fits in. DT is a prog band, they always have been. They love prog. I mean most of their influences are of a prog or metal type. Derek was a rock Keyboardist in a prog band. >derek where he said something along the lines of "i don't think i'd listen to DT if i didn't play in DT." > Ok, this is a prime example. MP, JP and JM play music they like. JR likes this music as well. doesn't that make him a more logical choice. Most musicians and composers, when under pressure, write the type of music they are most comfortable with and tend to practice the most. this comes out for JP and MP in LTE. they had a week to do it and what did they play? PROG-METAL!!!! So wouldn't they want some one from the same background? We should all be happy that DT made a choice in what kind of sound they want. The only real freedom a lot of artists have today is that they have the choice of who they play with and what their music sounds like. I am thrilled for OFB. They have taken a step in the direction they want to go and I support them. I have always trusted in the decisions of the guys because they are the only people who know what is BEST for DT. Congradulations On the Derek note, he was a great player and he will be missed. Also, you people saying they are playing rotating keys, think about it. This is their third keys player. and god knows how many vocalists they have had. I mean i guess it's three officially but wouldn't you say the vocalist spot rotated as much as the keys? And the only reason the Keys spot is rotating is cuz kevmo left. He was a major part of the band and probabely would still be with them if he hadn't decided to leave cuz I don't think DT woulda kicked him out. they are trying to find a nitch on the keys like it seems that they have with Vox. I think Jordan may very well be the player they are looking for. I hope so, I have tremendous respect for the guy.
