Before I leave for two weeks, I'd just like to declare that Rodney King never said those words. He was misquoted within a week after that little televised "hello I'm not dead" speech, and soon t-shirts were popping up everywhere with the wrong phrase. He was stuttering far too much for anything so concise or perfect to come out of his mouth. He DID manage to say "it's just not right" a few times in a row. Message-ID: <000e01be2d53$095bf6f0$4f0d84d0@korgx3> Two CD's came in today... Ocean Machine: Biomech Superior: Younique First: Ocean Machine: Biomech First opinion: I went through it as soon as it came in, listened to the whole damn thing without interuption while drawing shitlines in CAD to the wall of sound so thick I could eat it with a fork. Just layers of sound. The whole damn album is so ambient you can just lose yourself in the audio stream thal oozes out of your headphones, squeezing through you eardrum to tickle your cochlea. Devin doesn't even really go off on the vocals of this one. He still screams a bit, but it blends in with the music so well, you don't even notice. To me, this sounds like the Pink Floyd album of the 90's with Devin on vocals. It's just so incredibly orchestrated and so ambient that one just gets stoned while listening. Ordering information can be found at http://members.home.net/hevydevy You have to snail mail order it, and it took about three weeks for the turnaround, but it was well worth the wait. Second: Superior: Younique What the fuck is this shit!?!? I order the album expecting it to be that English Brit-pop band we all know and love and I get some mockery of an album by some German cheesemetal band?!?!? (laughs as he sees you reach for the "FLAME NOW" button. Sorry Bernd, I just heard you blood pressure go up 50 points) :) Actually, I was incredibly impressed with this one, although Ocean Machine has been holding it out of my CD player since its first run. I wasn't sure if Bernd and co. would be able to surmount Behind, but apparently indeedy they did, utilizing an album title that is pun-free as well. :) Opening up to a prog meets industrial sound, I was hooked from the beginning, grumbling and cursing at those asshole coworkers that kept intruding on my serenity. This album runs the gambit of heavy, hard-driven prog, to swingy/bluesey Sting style, to lusciously soothing piano ballads. A definite must for anyone who loves diversity, but a possible no go for anyone who is looking simply for another hard-edged metal album. Great job, Bernd! I should've ordered it sooner. hehehe. I got mine from http://www.knightsoftheround.com/ for $15 and it even came with a happy autographed photo of the band. Woo! BTW, Bernd, what kind of Korg is Michael Muller using? I swear I've recognized a couple of X3 sounds off of both albums, but Korgs often share sounds... :) Private mail for that one please. :) Could it be that Superior's keyboard player worships me? So, I just received the Xmas '98 CD. I must say that if the 2 previous ones are half as good, then they're worth having, 'cause this one's to kill for. Thanks to whoever is taking care of the DTIFC in England, because I just sent my money a few weeks ago, and I already received my birthday card, signed and all (a copy), a pin, the CD, the current issue of the Images and Words Magazine, etc. And to you gringoes who're afraid you're going to lose your money in the process of sending your cash overseas: It's a risk worth taking, believe me. I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't received the CD, but when you do get it, and see the contents and the way it's been put together, you're just going to love it! And BTW, I'm having my head checked pretty soon, if ya know what I mean! :) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oh, I had the chance to see Bruce Kulick again here in Sydney. He played a few songs from Kiss and Union, and even played a song that's supposed to go in a solo album (his first). He's very talented indeed. As before, he was really nice to everyone, taking time to sign everything and anything, posing with everyone who wanted to have a picture taken with him and answering our questions. He said he's trying to get Union to play here next year! Great. And there's a rumour that Deep Purple are coming here too. Things are getting better! See you later, and if I don't get to write again, have a happy xmas, ya big geese! And happy b-day to me (in 3 days!) What am I going to get? CD's I hope! 8?***** Bernardo _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? Finally the silent man electric version in awesome quality :) Anyway, the CD rocks and was well worth the 18 bucks or however much the fan club subscription cost. Thanks Mike and others! Note to other mike (aka syrinx) - I too will be attending the Philly show, so I'll make sure that when I get a second (but no more) I'll stop over and say hi! Anyone else going, make sure you say hi to the kid wearing either a top hat or a green hat with a big white S on it. The top hat might be in the way of others, so I might not wear it...but I love it! Alrighty! I'll be seeing some of you folks in a few days!
