Let me explain the process... (Parental Supervision may be required) Tools required: A Compact Disc A common sugical scalpel 1 cup of Mrs. Dash seasoning salt 1/2 tablespoon of butter 1/4 cup powdered brown sugar 2 eggs lightly beaten (so as not to incur the wrath of the SPCA) 1 Sugar Daddy lollipop 1 large bowl 1 serving spoon 1 Compact Disc player Instructions: Take (1) Compact Disc(CD) and (1)sugical scalpel. Apply sharp edge of scalpel to playing surface of CD. Following the curve of the CD, carve the name of the artist along the circumferance maintaining an equal justification throughout. Next, mix Mrs. Dash, butter, brown sugar, and eggs into wooden bowl and stir until mixture is creamy. Using scalpel, shave pieces of (1) Sugar Daddy into the bowl and mix until it becomes rich and puffy. (This is known as the Puff Daddy remix). Apply smooth even coating to playing surface of CD and refrigerate for 24 hours. Preset CD Player to 400 degrees F., remove Compact Disck from refrigerator and insert into CD player. Press play. If you do not hear a dramatic impact in the quality of your CD immediately, do not panic. It may take a moment for the quality to improve. -- Korgia Child says, "Don't not try this at home! I haven't read the whole series, but when I did, I had Stryper's "In God We Trust" album (don't kill me - it just came out at that time) on the head phones. Now whenever a song from there comes on, which is never nowadays (but was pretty often back then), visions of hobbits danced in my head. Yah, but aren't those the really weasly books that tab out the vocal line? God, those are pathetic. Just what I want to do is learn how to play vocals on guitar. :P But, hell, if it's free... :D I got a $30 Adaptec SCSI card (Good ol' AHA-2940UW for you techies) that way a week ago. If they ship it to you without realizing their error, I just assume they have to give it to you for that price. And since most of this stuff is computerized anymore, it's not likely they'll catch it in time. > It's amazing how listening to songs can bring back such powerful > imagery in your head, whether it's a book (if you listen to music You do that, too? Whenever I hear anything from Blind Melon or Nirvana I have flashbacks from The Stand big time. Most of you may hate Nirvana, but I still think Kurt could have written a perfect sountrack for the movie. All the disease and sorrow. Damn, I think I'll read that again. >and you were allowed to listen to just one last album while eating your >last meal, which album would you choose? That's a good question. What would Korg listen to? Although I'd probably rather listen to "Sounds of the Humpback Whales" more than anything, as far as a msical selection goes, I'd probably want to listen to the Les Miserables: International Cast Recording one last time. Not only that, but it's 2 1/2 hours long, so I'd really get to enjoy my meal. Now a SMART person would request Lambchop's Greatest Hits, so you could put "The Song That Never Ends" on repeat and laugh at and taunt your executioner. But then, i'd rather face a cruel, painful death than listen to Sherry Lewis sing for the rest of my natural life. What would my last meal be? Beef strogonoff of course! Every bit as good as DWoT, perhaps not as heavy, more symphonic, Rusell Allen sounds awesome here - the best vocal performance I ever heard. This album holds what I consider to be SX's best song - Through The Looking Glass. Check it out for sure. > Re:The Lord Of the Rings > I think the movie really needs a superbly orchestrated soundtrack. Agreed 100%! A rock/metal ensemble just wouldn't do a film like this justice. Right now I'm envisaging some sort of grand orchestral soundtrack that rivals the mighty Star Wars ST in terms of epicity (?). Perhaps Blind Guardian, who seem to be quite familiar with the Tolkein theme already, could supply some sort of supplementary tracks, but to carry the duty of constructing the sonical side of a LotR film, anything less than a full orchestra would fall short. On the note of soundtracks, is anyone else here disgusted at the current trend with soundtracks? (ie. thrown on some random songs by artists that will sell the album to gain promotion for the movie even though the songs have sweet F all to do with the film) Godzilla was a good example of this - wtf do ben folds five and rage against the machine have to do with godzilla? Nothing, nothing at all. When I hear a ST, I want to hear some sort of compositon (traditionally orchestral) that reflects the qaulities of the film. Take Star Wars - who can possibly think back to that gold text blasting on to the screen and falling back into the celestial backdrop without hearing the grand roar of a full orchestra kicking into a theme we all know too well. Or the Catina band scene - who can picture it without humming that funky tune from those crazy, balloon-headed aliens? The same goes for films like Jaws. Think 'Shark' - now think 'music'. What do you get? Same with Last Of The Mohicans, Titanic, etc. As always, IMHO of course. Luke. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 12 Sep 1998 06:15:50 -0700 (PDT) From: email_address_removed To: undisclosed-recipients:; Subject: Invitation to join email_address_removed Message-ID: Hello, I would like to invite you to join the ytseitalia mailing list.
