To: email_address_removed Subject: This is DT´s big chance...READ THIS!!!!!!!! Message-ID: Let us make a DREAM come true... Perhaps some of you have heard about the last big project Hollywood has to fulfill : The Adaption of "Lord of the Rings" to the big screen. A 120 Million $ Movie, split into 3 parts . And imagine * Dream Theater * would write the Music!!! Example: Did u ever hear "Hell´s Kitchen"? Thats the perfect match for the showdown: everything exploding, no one can save Frodo and Sam, and suddenly they get rescued by the eagles. then fade to black, and with the beginning of "lines in the sand" they fly out of the dark clouds into a bright landscape full of sunshine (hard to explain in words, but you should see my thoughts). then happiness everywhere etc. etc. but it´s not my task to write the book... My Mission is to convince everyone of u to help Dream Theater get the Job, cause you know best that they´re the right choice. Write this to everyone you know, especially the companys and people connected with the production, translate it in every language you speak (starting with english, i know mine is terrible), write it in every guestbook and to every official and inofficial DT and LOTR Homepage, and every Usenet-Groups. Anyone could make a homepage about it? Perhaps some one could suggest this to DT personally. We just got around a year. To be on top of the internet album charts was just the beginning, now let us finish this. And we did it with the record company as well (remember last album...) Let me know what u think about this idea and write me: email_address_removed I arranged a Counter for it at : Http://www.geocities.com/sunsetStrip/Pit/4198 just for the statistics. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 9 Sep 1998 11:09:37 +0100 From: Oysterman To: "'email_address_removed'" Subject: Re: Is the Jam hosed? All sections have been filled in to some extent, and I think the leap - quantitatively and qualitatively is huge. If you liked heavy music (prog, death, black, doom, hard), fiction (scifi, fantasy, horror, humour), computer games and films (or movies) then you could do a lot worse than to check it out. If you'd like to receive a message at the beginning of every month, telling you exactly which items (reviews, interviews) have been added the month before, please sign up with the W3M3 mailing list (through Listbot) about half-way down the main W3M3 menu. You are *not* currently on a W3M3 mailing list. This was just sent out to a few of my friends and three music-related mailing lists I am on. If you take no action, in all likelihood you will never hear of me again. Hmmm... that's an interesting thought, but I doubt DT fits for the = mission. I can't connect them with the fantasy theme... I'd say BIG = misfit! The 'real' version (for the violin) actually makes the Crossroads version seem like a walk in the park:) === -------------------------------------------- Well, you may think that it sounds like Paganini, and yes Paganini is very difficult-I have the tab to caprice 24-its tough, but the piece at the end of crossroads is NOT Paganini. It is Steve's interpretation of a classical piece written by guitarist William Kanengiser entitled Reprise of a Turkish March. William also played all the other classical bits in the film. Incidentally Ry Cooder was the blues guitarist trading off with Steve Vai at the end of the film. I hope that clarifies the issue. I do not know if I am the best approppriate person to talk about it as I am a HUGE Angra fan, but I gotta agree that the album is *different* from their previous ones. But we get used to it, I have just got the album for one day and I am already used to the songs! On the technical part: the songs can not be the best songs to be listened as a total, but we gotta admit that the guitar solos are all killing and all the instruments on the songs are all very well played! He's grown to something real good! Actually, someone who really writes damn good fantasy style stuff is David Arkenstone. 3 of his albums are based around short stories written by Mercedes Lackey, and he does a damn good job at it. All of his stuff is superb and he is a VERY versatile songwriter, not to mention musician. Whenever I read any good Fantasy novels (which I read all the time) I keep a heavy stock of Arkenstone in the 6 changer. :) But then, i could do it, too. :P -- KorgX3 ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 09 Sep 1998 11:09:08 -0400 From: Ryan Park To: email_address_removed Subject: Fwd: Vintage DT Video?
