Someone just recommended the band Theatre of Tragedy... I have heard bits of the music but not the lyrical content. Someone else told me that they were on the "evil" bandwagon. I understand that they have gothic overtones. Anyone who is familiar with the group please e-mail me and tell me more about them or offer a recommendation. Thanks - Everett ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 7 Aug 1998 12:16:25 -0500 (CDT) From: email_address_removed To: email_address_removed Subject: Bruford Message-ID: <> first, LTiA was NOT KCs 2nd album. In the Wake of Posideon was. Then came Lizard, then Islands (or that could be the other way around). From what Ive gathered about Bruford's playing in these 3 bands the order goes: Yes, then Crimson, then Genesis. for a while after Red, KC was broken up (notice the long span of time between Red and Discipline. I heard that Fripp was actually going to call this "new" band Discipline, but decided that it sounded too much like Crimson that he resurected the "dead" name. Bruford played for Genesis on the Trick of a Tail tour, which was 75. Red was released in 74. Whew! I am a 100% Rock n Roll keyboard player who loves to play a lot of notes. I also love to play with the women !!!!! Those of you who think I am a homo or poser...jokes on you!! because while you are wasting time writing about me....I'm living my dream on a daily basis meeting beautiful women across the world....not to mention play with one of the best bands in the world!!! As far as kevin moore goes, i met him one time and found him to be a gentleman. I have expressed my respect for him in many interviews, and I wish him the best with his career. Can this stupid debate please end ? ....surely there are more interesting things to talk about like charlie dominici's pathetic video that he is trying to sell!! peace out, Derek ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 7 Aug 1998 10:39:11 -0700 (PDT) From: Matt Johnston To: Multiple recipients of list Subject: Re: B-Sides Message-ID: Korg mentioned "The Way It Used to B (sides)", noting the title was corny. Well, hey, if you can get away with "Once in a LIVEtime", you can put out "The Way It Used to B (sides)". I'd personally call it "Metropolitan Museum of B-Sides", but that's just my own cheez coming through. ^_^ I agree with most everybody who has responded -- the idea's great. I wasn't able to get the Lie or HY singles, so I'm missing a lot of cool stuff. I'm sure that this stuff would be new to a lot of DT fans (I wonder what % of the fanbase we represent? Maybe 1 or 2%?), and collected for $12 or $15, it'd be beautiful! Kinda like Megadeth's version, only with more stuff, and stuff we haven't heard, like the unused FII songs (I'd donate an organ to hear Raise the Knife all the way through with vocals!) or that song that everybody wants to hear that I won't mention because that shouldn't be the only reason to buy the CD (though I doubt many of us looked at the ACOS EP and said, "Whoa! Love Lies Bleeding *and* Funeral For a Friend! I'm so on that!"). I feel like I'm giving my Christams list to Santa or something. Obviously, one would want to avoid overexposure, but still, a spring release or somthing would rock nadz while we wait and let you take your time with the next big album of doom (tm). HOWEVER, I'm also all for putting M2 (John Cameron directing?) on the new album. I'm also not against putting the unused FII songs on the new album. But it may be more logical to just put the songs on a dedicated EP ("The Way They Used To Be?") and let the new music fill the new album. I also like Swiss chees, but that's beside the point. --Matt (whatever floats yer boat, though...) --------------------------------------------------------------------- "..." --James LaBrie, "Hell's Kitchen" --------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 7 Aug 1998 13:40:45 -0400 (EDT) From: Paul Weiss To: Multiple recipients of list Subject: Re: YTSEJAM digest 4148 Message-ID: On Fri, 7 Aug 1998 Pat queried: > I have Larks.... and while the music is great and I like John Wetton's > voice, the quality of the cd really SUCKS. Not having heard Larks I cannot comment on your copy, but the first several with Greg Lake seem pretty even in production quality to me. You may want to pick up The Night Watch-a live 2cd set which was used for the Starless Album. The whole show was remastered by RF and sounds decent. Apparently, DGM will be re-releasing The Great Deceiver Box which would be the definitive have-to-have for KC fans. Peace. The guitar is logically laid out differently, and I know the way I am. If I weren't like Eddie Van Halen in two weeks, I would get pissed off and give up. Besides, I would want to get a hold of all the effects and such right away. I would want to sound like JP in a matter of a year and I know that's not possible. Is there anybody with an extra ticket to the Jones beach show that can send it my way, and give a ride. I know the show is on Sunday. I don't want anybody to go out of their way, and considering that I can't afford to pay for the ticket, unless it is $25, I can pay you on the first of the month. You may call me a cheapskate, but I live off of social security because I am blind, and I don't get much. I don't go out much, either. As you can probably tell from my posting frenzies. Anyway, if anybody from NJ is going to jones beach and wouldn't mind me tagging along in the car, I promise, I am entertaining enough for you, and wouldn't mind spotting me a ticket, email me at email_address_removed. I am good for the money, just not until September. I will give you collatoral if I have to. Secondly, I have a question for the players in our group. Would you join a generic rock band if the offer was given to you? I auditioned for a matchbox 20/googoo dolls/wallflowers type band last night.. Now, I have nothing mcuh to do musically, no prog bands are beating down my door, and I really wouldn't mind the work, but this is a little too constrictive for me. Just playing organ chords is not my idea of entertainment. I play in a cover band as well, but these guys have their thumbs up their ass and would rather sit in a rehearsal studio every week looking for the next James Labrie of cover tunes than using what we have, (I can sing) to go out and make some money and play. So, would you all join this mess? They are signed to the local record label, but that isn't saying much at all. Am I sacrificing my integrity here? I won't be making much money, and they say they want to do some coverstuff too.
