What is this based on? But anyways...... GREAT news! Maybe some people will surf into that site, see Dream Theater, and decide to pick up a CD. Kevin Rackley had the following to say about Empty Tremor: > This CD is awesome, reminds me of the first time I heard I&W. A great CD. > The singer has an amazing voice too. I agree that his voice is excellent (VERY harmonic). However, I find that he doesn't enunciate very well, and it's really hard to understand the lyrics (of course I'll cut him a little slack since English is his 2nd language). HY - Nice song but the incredibly flat vocals kill its impact so much. JLB is capable of injecting passion far beyond what we hear from him on this song. HK - I like this one; particularly the synchronised insanity about 2 minutes from the end. Erotomania is still my favorite instrumental mainly because the track changes its direction from minute to minute. Ytsejam almost follows the verse -> chorus -> mid8 -> verse scene while HK only has 3 noticable parts to it but Erotomania is alive every minute of the track. TAMP - Never liked it. Demo version is OK but this song does nothing for me. AL - The vocal harmonies on this song bring the song to life in a way that is not at all present on HY. I have always loved this song and I'm surprised it hasn't gone down too well with the rest of the jammers. I think the discussion about the fastest guitarists is rather ridiculous= The main thing is not how fast or how many notes per second a guitarist is playing, but what they play, or sometimes, what they don't play. A break= or total silence in a solo can sometimes say more than thousand notes, if i= t's done in the right way. Just listen to guitarists such as Ritchie Blackmo= re (I can't name one guitarist that can copy his unique style) and Ace Frehley= (his not fast but his solos can really move you). I really love John Petrucci, Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai and Joe Satrian= i, but Ritchie Blackmore rules! I'd put in on par w/ JLMB, right below ToT, which is tied with PS for 3rd. (And there you have my weird and wild $0.2.) LitS is EXACTLY the song that I feel typifies the new dream theater. Jazzier, and less moody. This is a direction that I personally don't like as much. Don't get me wrong, I still like it and if the next album contains 76 minutes of jazzy, derek-spawned stuff, I'll still buy it the day it comes out and listen to it all the time because LitS is still a killer fucking song. If I saw derek in a mall i'd have to try not to shit my pants when I approached him to tell him he rocks. But my point WAS, his contri. aren't as strong as kevin's! Let's say I agree, that LitS is the best song on the album. Wanna compare it to PMU? Didn't think so. I think most will agree with that. All subjective, of course. Everyone here always talks about how they like meeting up with jammers...well, this is the easiest way to keep track of getting in touch with jammers. Anyways, make sure to join the group "Ytse Jam" under PlanetAll. That'll show you everyone on PlanetAll who is a DT fan. To join this group, click on the following link: http://www.planetall.com/registration/basic/recruit.asp?pcustomerid=685& Groupid=11278&Source=40 If you've never used PlanetAll before you'll need to go through a quick registration so you can participate. It only takes a minute and it's free. Anyways, I'm looking forward to SEEING DT TONIGHT IN NH!!! YEAH!!! (west coasters, you can have Spock's Beard. I've received 29 payments and the threshold for the first "batch" is 30, so I'll go ahead and float the money over the Pond to Bernd today (if possible). The first batch of checks was all deposited yesterday, and Bernd advises he should get the first CDs any day now. We can't really call these "preorders" now since the CDs are imminent. :) Info on ordering signed copies of the CD (whether advance or not; since the CD should be out in about a month subsequent batches might not be in-advance) is available at: http://www.crl.com/~vanyel/younique.html. This is for the US, East of the Mississippi. Orders from Canada or Mexico can also be handled, but "there will be a fee." :) For the Western U.S., please contact Pam Doise at email_address_removed. For other countries in the Western Hemisphere, it'd probably be easier to contact Bernd directly.
