I can't believe this news! What the hell has this man done to deserve this shit in so little a time?! Yeah the music means so much to most of us, but let's be realistic here. I think all of us RUSH fans should think about the future of Neil and not RUSH. Yes, their music is a large influence in my life, but I hope all of us can turn our intentions toward the people behind the music. All of my prayers go out to him now. I can't imagine the grief he must be experiencing now. (you destroyed it somewhat with your PS, though - the joke was obvious) Regarding World Cup football (not Soccer you silly americans) you shouldn't believe too much in Holland. Brazil gets one more day of rest, and I would be surprised if Holland managed to win. It is only two days between clashes. I hope for Holland to win though. Croatia doesn't stand a chance against France, believe me (i'll have to see if i get to eat that one up) And last, it is "mellotron", not "melletron". Have a nice sunday. What about the second one: at 9:45 starts a guitar chord part. My guess is that it is this Hendrix-chord(1, >3, >6, <11) with root d, then, c#, d# and d again. Any comments?? And good news that the book is out. I'll check if it's availble in Europe. I just wanted to hear the two CDs that were released to the fan club. Now, you might say, "Damon, you stupid fuck, join the fan club." And this wouldn't be a problem, but I feel like spending the money to only receive CDs at the end of every year, since thje rest of the fan club stuff wouldn't be very useful to me, is not a good financial investment. -- Damon Fibraio, email email_address_removed Keyboardist, vocalist, and looking for work "I can see much clearer, now I'm blind."--Dream Theater, Take The Time, Images and Words ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 05 Jul 1998 12:30:21 -0400 From: Jon Dery To: email_address_removed Subject: Lines In the Sand Message-ID: All right. I can't stand not jumping on this thread this anymore. Here's what it should be: E----x----x-------------------------------- B----3----3-------------------------------- G----2----2-----0--3----------------------- D----0----0-----------3--0----------------- A----0----0-----------------5--0----------- E----x----x-------------------------------- Play this using hammer-ons and pull-offs and use pretty strong pick attack to achieve the slinky, groovy sound that JP has. Also, because I like this thread, I have tabbed out the guitar chords that JP plays during the little fusion ditty with all of the sweet piano and bass fills right before the final verse. This should be correct, but I don't have the CD in the room to check it with: Each chord should be played on the and of 3 on the odd numbered bars and sustained until the next chord is struck: 1- D7#9add11 (no third) E----3--------------- B----6--------------- G----5--------------- D----x--------------- A----x--------------- E----x--------------- 2- Dsus4 E----3--------------- B----3--------------- G----2--------------- D----x--------------- A----x--------------- E----x--------------- 3- Eb7#9add11 (no third) E----4--------------- B----7--------------- G----6--------------- D----x--------------- A----x--------------- E----x--------------- 4- D9sus4 (no third) E----0--------------- B----1--------------- G----0--------------- D----x--------------- A----x--------------- E----x--------------- -repeat- Try playing them with all upstrokes. It gives them a thinner, more chimey sound. Well thats my shot at this tune. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Well, good luck. You'll need it. You'll have to list/describe *MANY* bands. On the other hand, with progressive metal the task is a bit easier, since the branch is much younger. It's a quite ambitious task, huh? But if you actually succeed, it will be cool. > Now my question : > > Which bands should I take ? > Please email me your suggestions and give me also some info and the URL of > your favorite band. Well, perhaps you should be visiting the following site. It is very informative: . Be sure to check the section on the Gibraltar Encyclopedia of Progressive Rock, which is linked there. Message-ID: Hi, Gang. If you are a tape trader using Linux (or even if you have some tapes or use any other kind of *nix), then you might wish to check the first public version of D-Man's program called jcard. It is a Perl script designed to make some nice j-cards in the now-popular non-Microsoft environment *nix, in the same fashion that people have used the CaseLnr (or something like that) program for MS Windows that is now shareware. The purpose of jcard is, of course, to make j-cards for audio tapes (analog tapes), avoiding the frequently ugly handwritten liners that people include with tapes from a trade. An interesting thing is that D-Man made his program a FREE one, following the GNU License (for further information, please DO check www.gnu.org and www.fsf.org). This basically means that he is putting his software available for anyone to download and also see the source code, to modify it, adapting it to your needs. His jcard is very simple to use, needing no profound knowledge of the system, just the basic everyday commands. I'm using it now and I doubt that I'll ever need to use other softwares again for the same task. And the author is (as we already know) open to any kind of suggestions to improve the software. You can also help D-Man make the software get better by emailing him what you think would be interesting additions or modifications to his jcard. So, check out his program (www.cs.wm.edu/~cmerlo/jcard.tgz). It's free and small. And let him know of your opinions.
