Sadly, this will never be the case. Record companies are many things but stupid is not among them, at least when considering finances ;) Once under contract, you are locked in chains until you fulfill your obligation (i.e., record your X number of CDs). The insidious thing is that instead of cutting the chains, the record company will simply not let you *waste* any of their time and resources and record new material. Can you say "six years between albums" ?? The reason that you will never be let out of a contract is that on the crazy chance that you turn things around and make it big, the record company wants to be there to cash in on things. An indy label would be a breath of fresh air in comparison. Iced Earth is definitely a very good band. Pretty wild how they combine the growl voice on some parts with the Paul Stanley voice on others. Is this the same singer or does more than one member of the band sing? This band is definitely worth checking out. I want to let all that are interested know that Vernon Reid will also be appearing in the Washington, DC/Baltimore area this coming Friday night at Wolf Trap as part of something called Jazz Train. Vernon will be playing with drummer Max Roach and pianist Geri Allen. To quote from their webpage - "Wolf Trap proudly presents the world-premiere of Jazz Train -- a theatrical fusion of powerful choreography by Donald Byrd set to the diverse jazz compositions of drummer Max Roach, guitarist Vernon Reid and pianist Geri Allen (performed live by the artists themselves!). Enjoy a wildly exciting and dramatic three-part performance illuminating the impact of jazz on American culture." Their page can be found at http://www.wolf-trap.org You can even check out the view from each seating area and purchase tix online. You will get an EXACT seat location as if you were standing at the ticket window, so you can know whether or not you want those tickets, unlike some online places I have seen to get tickets. For those of you who have never been to Wolf Trap I highly recommend making a trip there. It's a beautiful all wooden shed/pavillion type of facility right in the middle of a state park. One of the best things is that you can take just about ANYTHING in the gates. There is no security check and they allow you to bring in coolers, food, sodas, beer, wine, cans, BOTTLES, lawn chairs, etc. This place is very mellow and a great setting to see shows. I try to attend the all-day Jazz and Blues Festival every year, featuring 10 bands on 2 different stages. This year's will be this sunday the 28th of June. See you there! GOOD designers program javascript (by the way javascript is a programming language which isn't incredibly hard, but has a lot of twists and turns) to be useful in more than one browser AND tell you which browsers to use. Excessive use of Javascript can be annoying, but a lot of javascript has necessary functions such as preloading images for timing, form completion and submission, etc. Frames are only useful for specific things, and I'm not very pro-frame except for specific reasons, like business sites (and even they don't necessarily need frames). I am sorry. I wasn't twisting any words. I know you never mentioned blind people in your post, but I posted that because people need to be aware that there are people who can't handle sites with frames and fancy animation and stuff like that. Let's make this semi-DT related. Under a Cyber Moon, one of the biggest fan sites for Dream Theater, has both versions. Now, Itchy could be the way most web authors are and just say, well screw it, I don't need to make a non-frames text only version of my site because Damon is the only one I know of who is blind. And this isn't even about blind people only. If you took the time to read the whole message, I also said that there are quite a few people who don't use windows. Maybe they use os/2. i don't. maybe they use DOS, UNIX, lynix, or an Amiga for God's sake. Not everybody uses a Mac or Windows 95/NT. Some of us are on college accounts that only have unix shells. I have learened to go through a frames site with lynx, but it doesn't always work. I don't have much of a problem with frames, because I can still get info out of a site. But, when I just see the words "inline" and "link" and "imagemap", what am i supposed to do? Besides, as I said in my original post, lynx is faster, and more reliable. If you don't want to respond to me anymore on this, fine, but I did not twist your words. And don't pull the crap with me about not doing a radio show or watching TV just because of a handicapped person. that is the biggest crock of shit I have ever heard. I never put down graphical sites. I think they are a waste of bandwidth personally, but if people feel the need to do them, fine. Just, if you are going to put in the effort to do all this coding for graphics, a little bit more for a stripped down version that will load quicker, even in your fancy browsers, isn't asking much. Could someone elaborate on this, the source of this information, exactly when (!!!!) etcetera. I'd be grateful for more details ;-) BTW, me and a friend were supposed to go to the Nummirock festival in Finland where DT played last friday, but couldn't for various reasons. Anyone there who could provide me with info on how the festival, and esp DT, was? If this has been done on Ytsejam and I missed it, please point me to the right jam or use private email. I'm visiting the Roskilde Festival in Denmark this weekend, to see Sabbath, Slayer, Beastie Boys, Dimmu Borgir, Great White (!), The Verve, Iggy Pop, Soulfly, Tori (!) + lots more. Anyone else going? I'll be wearing my old Ytsejam shirt for sure. One last thing, non-DT-topic, but as fans of music we all could benefit... are there anyone here with lots of experience from shopping CD:s online? I know I got my LTE for $11.89 incl shipping (to Sweden!) but that was some special deal on CDNow. Generally, if I would, say, like to buy a whole batch of old Pink Floyd, or Black Sabbath, or Yes albums to complete my collection, which is the best place and what prices should one consider good? I'm asking since records in Sweden are criminally expensive and I can't tell whether a mid-price is really what a mid-price should be. If this is too off topic, take it to personal email. Thanx!
