Okay, I used to live less than a mile from where Daytona's now stands. Yes, 
Riviera Beach/Pasadena has its share of scum and villiany, and yes, many of them
are stupid. As I think Kevin Madden put it, "Pasadens is the epicenter of 
Maryland's redneck earthquake." Some of the nicest people I've met are from the 
area, though. You can hardly judge everyone by a few drunks at some dive.

I'm checking e-mail and I've got the TV on, and Serena Altschul is talking
about a Hendrix museum when she segues into Robert Fripp and ProjeKct Two.
She says that it will be in NYC this weekend.  Damn!  A King Crimson reference
on MTV!  And it wasn't from Kurt Loder or Matt Pinfield!  Speaking of ProjeKCt
Two, if anyone needs a ticket for the Cleveland show, let me know, as I have
to get rid of mine.  I will be in Columbus meeting Kevin "Silent Bob" Smith.
I want to go to the Columbus ProjeKCt Two show at the Newport, but it's the
same night as the Phish concert.  To add insult to injury, Tori Amos'
Cleveland show is the same night I'll be seeing Metallica in Pittsburgh.
Concert promoters need to contact me before they schedule shows.  Oh well, I
don't have any Tori albums, and the only song I know is "Winter," so it's no
big deal I guess.  Hope to see some of you at the DeTroit show on Tuesday.
I'll be wearing the oldschool green Ytsejam t-shirt with the nifty glow-in-
the-dark action on the back.

Yep, he would have had a lot of fun if the 300lb drunk guy was next to
him, but not as much fun as the 300lb woman from DT at Jaxx...

I have to agree with Steve. It gets pretty annoying when drunk people at
concerts fail to obey the laws of personal space. I was pretty far from
the stage do I didn't have to worry about it. Even though there was lots
of space, the idiot rednecks still annoy you. Lets blow smoke right in
your face. So I saw Derek's head once or twice. I did get to miss
Portnoy spitting every which way. I guess I am just old...

Well, I've been posting so much lately, why not jump on the 
bandwagon for this one too... I'll try to keep it brief.

I heard PMU on the radio in 93...  I was stunned. It took me about 
2 weeks to find out the name of the band, because I always seemed 
to tune in after it was mentioned. As soon as I found out, I rushed 
out and bought I&W... and I never listened to the radio again, it 
just bored me to tears after hearing DT. I gave I&W to my then 
boyfriend for Valentine's day, and he asked me to marry him...
CURSE THAT DAMN CD! Well, now that we're divorcing, we've agreed 
that he gets the house, and I get the cds. Personally, I think he
got the shaft, but I'm not mentioning that to him!

Ahh, but the art is in DT's arrangement of the samples. They don't actually
try and make people think that Conan O'Brien is a non-writing member of the
band (hehe, Adam). Now, that said, I don't have a problem with rap, for
more or less the same reason. But to tell you the truth, i aint heard a rap
song that had samples under it, just a drum machine and some synth bass
lines and stuff. And hey, I listen to Vanilla Ice and House of Pain. Umm,
oh darnit, i seem to have lost my point again. If you find it, please let
me know...

construct a new one, In vanilla ice you can find it in play that funky
music..and i bet that on lots of other songs..but i think the most famous
example is Mc hammers song...you cant touch this.. the wqhole background song
was Rick James' Superfly ( some 70's funk song) and they sund exactly the
same..exccept for hammer singing... also hammer had a song called pray.. which
sampled Prince;s when the doves cry in the same way..

First of all, given the recent discussions about our younger listmates, I 
don't see how my age is at all relevant.  But, for the record, I'm 25.

Secondly, I've "been back to the roots of rock."  I was raised on Billy Joel, 
the Eagles, the Beatles, the Stones.  I discovered (older) Rush, Led Zeppelin, 
and Van Halen relatively early on.

Thirdly, I am not music chat just pointless, as you indicated.

But most importantly, what the FUCK are you doing on the Dream Theater list if 
you find discussion about music pointless?  What did you expect to find here?  
UNIX system maintenance?  Baseball statistics?

We're devoted music fans.  Many of us are serious about playing music.  If 
that threatens you, then go piss up a rope.  We're not about to change five 
years of history to suit your needs.

By the way, I'm curious.  How did your sick little brain come up with the 
notion that the older one gets, the less important discussion about music or 
the arts becomes?  You're in the wrong place, pal.
