Look : 4 members of the band are still going to school. The 2 other have to work for leaving because they don't sale enough albums. The Band will make all of these promo tape by theyself !!! This will take time, since there are lots of requests. Another thing is that the band will go in studio in May for pre-production of the new album (demo recording). They don't have the time to answer all the e-mails they recieve, but belive me they will read them all. So come on people, be a little patient and you'll get your stuff. Until then, hear the samples from Prog Or Die and DR. Mosh's site. Btw, for those who have asked me where to buy "APOCOLOKYNTOSYS" : Go to the "LINKS" section of the fan club site. It's showing the same problem that I had with the last Faith No More album; it has touches of their former sound, it's really awesome in places. But in other places they have totally sold out (oh boy, bad choice of words) to the 'noise metal' of current bands like Korn, Coal Chamber, etc. I don't understand why the hell they did that. There's also no sign of that double guitar attack...come to think of it, maybe they only have one guitarist these days. I never heard anything about a replacement. In each case, both parties are gaining, no one is forcing anyone to pay $15 for a boot disc. Sure maybe it is not that expensive to make these discs, but do you have a problem spending $15-$20 for a studio recording released from a record label? It amounts to the same thing, these people who are providing boots are taking time out of their life to provide quality recordings to others who may not be fortunate enough to get them for themselves. Some trade for other product, which is mutually(sp) beneficial to both parties while some of the traders are asking for monetary recompensation for their time and effort. So this is what the get out of it, this is their personal gain. Now to say that giving away something for free is without personal gain is a false statement. The only way that giving something away for free is without personal gain, is if you really don't want to do it and are forced to do it. Giving away those CD-R's for cost plus shipping gives you the personal gain of a sense of well being. You can say to yourself that you are a good and better person, for providing this service without asking for any recompensation. Very few things in life are done without a personal gain of sorts being achieved, whether it be in goods or in a personal sense of satisfaction. ouch....that is the longest I've had to think in quite a while...forgive the rustiness of my brain............. Really it is no one's business on this list what 2 individuals do between themselves, except those concerned. I wouldn't consider you to be a "Ytserobber" just more like a "Ytsepawnbroker" which isn't all bad...but it's still seeking a personal gain. >> This is a little annoying. First off, I would have no problem if someone charged me shipping, "production" costs (blank CD-R), and added a little extra. After all, if someone offered to do something for only shipping/costs of something as wonderful as a DT-FII CD-R - they would be bombarded with requests. Then they would have to quit their job, run their equipment into the ground, get complaints about why it is taking so long, and then have nothing to show for it except a smile on their face that they helped others. Nothing is wrong with being this noble, but let's be realistic. Okay, you probably wouldn't have to quit your job - but so much for your free time. That is why I have no problem with somebody adding a little extra. And the fact of the matter is, Graham never even asked for money or a profit. Then when it is realized that Graham didn't ask for money, but rather asked for a trade - he is still attacked as shooting for something to gain. To me, that was the topper. I don't see how anyone could be ridiculed for wanting to trade. And what you see as "personal gain" I see as "mutual gain". Both parties are getting something out of a trade. <> And that is very noble of you. I think you should be commended for having this attitude. But you shouldn't attack someone else because they don't. Let alone your idea of actually losing money. I have no problem with "picking up the tab" sometimes, but if I did it all the time I'd only " have a Whopping $1.25 to my name" :o) I just had to jump in on this one because this is one of the most unwarranted attacks I think I have yet to see on the jam (only been here 2 months though). I repect both NuGgeTMaN and Chris P. who usually have something insightful to the ytsejam, so I am not really attacking either. Rather - I am siding with Graham on this particular "thread". ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 25 Apr 1998 21:43:20 +1000 From: Luke Bateup To: ytsejam Subject: Gaz the ytserobber! How does it compare, sound-wise. The reason I ask is The Mirror sounds pretty good, but the recording on Revelation is horrible. The vocals are too high in the mix, the music is muted and muddy, and the whole thing sounds like a .ra file or something and not a 112k/s stereo mp3. BTW the singer sounds more like the singer for Heir Apparent than anyone else. -=- I know a monster when I see one in the mirror. --------------------==== Broken via True Love ====------------------- http://www.afn.org/~afn39111 Butcher, Rape, Smash to Pieces ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 25 Apr 98 10:29:48 -0500 From: John Dea To: "~YTSEJAM" Subject: Re: Grammatical Nonsense... I usually don't reply to drivel like this, but I feel obligated since I fall into the category of Ytsepawnbroker. I confess, I actually like to TRADE for tapes/dat/cdr of material from my favorite bands. I am what's called a "Tape Trader." I don't agree with buying boots anymore than you do (in general), but I fail to see the problem with trading for them. Using your logic every person ever to trade a bootleg (oh no! for personal gain!!) is a "pawn broker." Hell, if people didn't trade music no one would ever get the shows/material they wanted. I know I'm not happy with waiting years at a time for official releases - are you? Graham just wanted people to know he had this stuff available and was willing to trade for it - nothing more than that. I especially liked the note about how CDrs are $1.50 and that no one should have to pay for more than media. I'd like to see how you're going to get the CD from Australia to the US for that amount. In fact, the media plus shipping would be $15 mininum, so even if that guy did pay the $15 he'd be getting an excellent deal.
