This thing actually sounds really good, but it skips like there's no tomorrow. It's absolutely ridiculous how much this thing skips. I thought it might be my shocks, but I know someone who used to have a Kenwood that never skipped, which was stolen. He got a good deal on what I have now, so he put that in and it skips just as badly as mine. Just imagine listening to LITS right after the keyboard intro when you the song is gonna ROCK and then hitting a very small bump in the road that makes the player spit the CD out. I almost detached the face and threw it out the goddamned window, but then my CD would have been stuck in there. Anyways I'm stuck with it because I can't budget a new player now. In brief: avoid. -C# ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 18 Apr 1998 15:35:21 -0500 From: Yvette Cooley To: "'email_address_removed'" Subject: The Chicago Show------The Vic Theater Message-ID: Since the St.Louis show didn't happen, I'll go to Chicago, got tickets = today,$22.50 apiece, general admission. Anyway, I saw Savatage's Wake Of Magellan in my local independant store's new section for $14, so I figure it is not the import. Did it get released in the US a long time ago or did I just not hear about it? I didnt get it because I had just found Becker's Perspectives, and opted to go with that instead. Its a great album, glad I went with it. Maybe sometime Ill get back to the shop to pick up the Savatage disc. As far as Jason Becker goes, Im looking forward to getting his earlier stuff when his playing was uninhibited. That is going to be awesome stuff. >From: Nigel Bridgeman >According to my brother, my ankle is *not* broken because, as he told me, >"You'd know if it was." How the hell am I supposed to know if I've never >broken it before? Well, I broke my hand playing basketball pretty bad, and it didnt hurt all that bad, except for at first. At first it was pretty unbearable, but I thought I had just sprained the shit out of my wrist. So I iced it for the next day and a half, and when my friend saw it after a day and a half and said that my hand was the most swollen lump of meat she had ever seen (and at this point I couldnt move my hand), she dragged me to the ER. I didnt want to go because I had a midterm the next day. But sometimes these things are fuzzy. I would say that if there is swelling, and it doesnt go down in a day or two, go get it checked out. I could do without Where Are You Now and Cover My Eyes, but Speak to Me, Raise the Knife, You or Me (I can't believe I like You or Me, but it's a great middle-length rock song, like CiaW ... and for some reason--the chorus, mainly--I despise You Not Me) would have been great on the album. Yet I've noticed this: none of the magic of the old DT can be found here. None of the great Kev songs, nothing I'd think "my god that's a brilliant song (e.g. LTL)." Those songs made it on the album: LitS and NM. So we didn't really miss out. The album could have been better, but from listening to the demos I think I still wouldn't have liked FII as much as WDADU, I&W, or Awake: a lot of rock songs but not very many prog songs. That's my opinion. -=- I know a monster when I see one in the mirror. --------------------==== Broken via True Love ====------------------- http://www.afn.org/~afn39111 Butcher, Rape, Smash to Pieces ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 19 Apr 1998 09:01:31 +1000 From: Nigel Bridgeman To: email_address_removed Subject: Re: YTSEJAM digest 3760 Message-ID: Graham "Gazzy" Boyle wrote: >Spiff, you can always sit down at the gig, you will anyway when >Metallica >break into their country & western mini-set.. >So don't be such a girlie-blousse and go, it's not like we have any >other >bands to look forward to see, have we ? >:) That is too true. After Van Halen on Friday night I have no more gigs for the rest of the year lined up (unless I see Sammy Hagar, which I won't be). And what's the likelihood of me being up to see any? That's right, not a chance in hell. At the moment I feel like a cross between James Stewart in "Rear Window" and James Caan in "Misery". Except that I'm not perving on any murderers, and I haven't had my ankles broken with a sledge hammer (yet). This is my fourth post in less than a week - can I actually make it to the top two or three of the Australian MFP list this month? This will be my last ankle post, I promise.
