Like one of the best I've heard. It's definitely an A- boot. So if you see it, buy it. I think that about sums up the thoughts of everyone reading the jam right now (or passing over this message for lack of content) feels exactly the same way about this particular show, man. I know I do. That would be an experience and a half. Anyone out there know when Savatage is coming to America for their full fledged American Leg? I wanna see em again!!!!! I'm figuring late this summer (July/August), but what do I know? Oh, and Eckie, I think they'd take you at MTV if you applied for Road Rules, or Real World, after all, they's just looking for weird psycho folks to create conflict anyway. :-) The killing would be good for ratings, right? The stage is not huge and the capacity of the hall is only around 1000. I asked the guys on the door for an estimate of how many tickets had been sold, but they didn't know. I'd guess that there were 8-900 people there. Sound: No the greatest acoustics. The band sound fine, but James's vocals got a bit lost in the mix methinks. Light: Tiny stage, so only 1 row of lights and about 4 main spots on either side of the stage. Crowd: Despite a small contingent who were more interested in going back and forth to the bar, the crowd were very receptive and attentive. The Images and Words material received the best response. The setlist was entitled 'Manchester set 2' and was prepared in some word processor rather than being written out. It differs from Choon-Kang's setlist 2 in that they made a few omissions, namely Anna Lee (not missed), ACOS IV and New Millennium (Aaargghhh! - I really wanted to see John M on the stick again). It also listed 'Hollow Years (2nd kit)', but since there wasn't room to swing a cat onstage, the 2nd kit didn't get used. After the extract of 'Freebird' at the end of 'Take the Time', DT swung into a medley of covers, most of which sounded familiar but none of which I was able to scribble down at the time, so I'm grateful for Adrian for filling us in there. So it went: · ACOS I & II · Just Let Me Breathe · ------- · Burning My Soul · Take The Time / Freebird · Assorted covers (YYZ, hot for Teacher etc.) · Hollow Years (No 2nd kit) · (piano solo - down stage) · Crack / Puppies · Lie · ------- · Peruvian Skies · (guitar solo) · Pull Me Under · Ytse Jam (drum solo) · Trial Of Tears · ------- · medley: · Metropolis - Nicky Lemons · Learning To Live · ACOS VII Sunset The crowd seemed a bit taken aback when Mike announced 'Nicky Lemons', but they applauded them afterwards. Personally I could have done without them. Rudess and Morgenstein were hanging round in the foyer after the gig to sign copies of their CDs (for which there were a few takers). No copies of LTE on sale though - bummer! 2) Nottingham Gig (or absence of it) That's a real shame. Nottingham is one of the last few hotbeds of metal in the UK and I'm sure the guys would have had a great response from the crowd with or without James. Its a real shame that the venue wouldn't let them go ahead with the Instrumental gig - I'm sure it wouldn't have been completely vocal-free - Mike could have sung a few things and Derek could have helped out :-)) 3) Press Coverage. Hey Graham (Borland)! How many interviews did the guys do? How did our letter (or email) campaign go? The response I got to my email from Metal Hammer wasn't promising! Here's hoping that James's voice is back to its best for the gig in Bourges! Message-ID: So I went to the DT concert in November and shelled out $25 for my cool tour shirt. Then I on my way beck from winter break Amtrack decided to lose a ton of my shit, including my DT shirt. So now I look at the official site and see that both the shirt I bought and the shirt I really wanted (John Petrucci was wearing it backstage) are for sale (at MUCH cheaper prices). So here is my question (and if you could, please email me with your answers...) has anyone bought stuff from the website (Dream Theater International Fan Club (Ytse Jams, INC))? And if so, what is the turn around time on it?
