Message-ID: Guhday! Just got back from an amazing place called Australia. Highly recommended for re-adjusting the attitude back in line with reality :) I understand that Mike and Derek have made their presents (double entendre intended) on the jam? I haven't had time to look through the 150 digests that are backed up, to find out if this is true or not. I hope this is true, cuz I have a few words for Mike :) Well, having had LTE only since Sunday, it's probably a little premature to judge the music without giving it a few more listens right? FUCK THAT!!! This album rules NOW, not tomorrow after a few listens, not projected into the future where I hope something better still comes out. RIGHT FUCKING NOW! What the fuck, it only took them a week to crank it out, why should it take me a month to get a hard on over it? Mike, you are quite ill!!! I only hope they never find a cure. Universal Mind rips!! You could have named the album that, there is so much groove happening in that song! You're flying across 6 or 7 hundred drums and then you get into that offbeat shit, DAMN! The plan right now is to record it to cassette, head into the Callahan Tunnel at peak rush hour and blow the truck speakers out! :) Latah, Jon -- *------------*----------------------------*--------------* | Jon Parmet | email_address_removed | 617-494-2851 | *------------*----------------------------*--------------* ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 1 Apr 1998 12:53:02 -0500 (EST) From: K I L L M A R Y To: email_address_removed Subject: The JPM100 Message-ID: Hi... This is my oppinion on the JPM100... I've played a few so far here in Tampa at the music stores - I pretty much pick it up every time I go to a music store. I think the overall quality of the guitar is far better than the regular Ibanez stuff. The neck is thicker than your average RG, not thinner. Which suits me - my ideal guitar neck would have the thickness of a Les Paul 1960 type neck (sue me). The thicker neck also should provide much better intonation and you wouldn't have to deal with your tross rod every time the temperature changes a couple degrees (I had a handmade US Custom RG that I sold because the neck would move even during a rehearsal and the action would be varying all the time, not to mention the tuning). Other than that, I think the guitar sounds great and if you're into that kind of sound, it IS worth it to check it out. I don't think any other Ibanez guitar plays as well or has a better quality finish, even the old ones I've played (I'm talking solidbodies though, for those looking for a reason to flame my ass ;D). I agree 100%. :) If someone were to come into possession of this tape from Mike I think it might be high time for another DT tape tree (the first DT-only tree since the '95 "Home for the Holidays" fiasco w/ Brian Cox). Not only is that show supposed to be one of their best in recent memory, but the source tape would come directly from a band member. All this would depend on Mike's blessing (and him actually releasing it), of course. If no one else _really_ wanted to do it, I'd be more than happy to run the analog side. I could run the digital, as well, but I only have cloning capability sometimes (when my friend w/ a DAT is in town), so that might not work well. Something to consider. Well, I'll just say that it's very cool and worth the 13 bucks, but not nearly as cool as it could have been. It's in "music video" format, meaning most of it is just lip/instrument syncing. The audio and video were recorded over the whole tour, and the best parts were spliced together. They did a fine job, but it loses the whole live effect, especially since it's pretty obvious that all the crowd noise/applauding is fake and was added later. I was very disappointed with the "conceptual" footage and felt they should have just left it a "Live" video. Most of it is just them playing/singing, but then every once in a while out of nowhere it'll show a tire washing ashore, or some dude sitting at his desk, or later on, walking around with the umbrella, or a camera pointed down at the freeway, along with shots of rain falling on road. All in all, it's a good buy, but don't think of it as more than just another version of a really cool song or else you'll probably be disappointed. Get high on ether when there's no one in the house. Pretend it's the big one the moment you pass out. That's just rehearsal, but it's comforting somehow To practice dying now. woot™ ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 01 Apr 1998 17:44:24 -0500 From: Carlos Alfaro To: email_address_removed Subject: Re: KEVIN JOINS FATES WARNING????
