"Dead Winter Dead" >is pretty awesome too. >- Joe D. Zach Stevens = wow. I haven't heard "All that I Bleed" but I do have "Alone You Breathe." What a kicker. I would also highly recommend Handful of Rain, the CD it comes off of. It has great tracks, with incredibly scope. Some much harder stuff, and some more melodic...but they have great melodies anyway. Dead Winter Dead was the first album I heard/bought by Savatage, and what got me hooked. Everyone should definitely have this. It's a rock-opera - the first one I got to hear. The music, and the lyrics, everything will just blow you away. -------------------- >Can someone please forward Jam digest 3577 to me? This is much more constructive. But I disagree here. DT have selected DS as their keys. End of story. Deal with it. Get on with things. Or maybe I'm wrong. Maybe you can convince them to drop DS, and go with someone else. Whatever you're decision, please, PLEASE, stop posting it here. I don't care how he looks, whether he beats his wife or not, I listen to his music. And I must admit it really sucks after "Odyssey" album was released. On the following albums I hear same boring songs, same TGV-like solos, etc. Yngwie thinks that he is a good song writer - I doubt. For instance, Mike Vescera's last solo effort released back in 1996 called MVP "Windows" is better than all Yngwie's albums in last 10 years. Just check out a song with Doug Aldritch and Al Pitrelli on guitars. And one interesting fact : there's one song written by Yngwie and played by him, well, it's the only song that sucks. I gave Malmsteen the last chance on "Inspiration" but when I heard "Manic Depression" the story was over. There was somebody deffending Yngwie and was asking for favourite recordings, well, for me, from the guitar standpoint they are Stevie Ray's "Texas Flood" and Clapton's "24 nights". But please, don't start comparing "Maestro" to these greatest guitarists. It will sound silly, at least. But in general, I'm not a big fan of such discussions. Everybody has their tastes and preferences. Keep on rockin'. Seems like a no win situation to me. I tell you what, the next time you want to rag on Yngwie, include a jpeg picture of yourself along with your best recording. Amen dude! I've stated this before and it's a great point. Everyone can have their own opinion. It's talentless, unoriginal bands, like Green Day that get together and "flush your mind right down the drain..." Great chord progressions? gimme a break. Big deal if they can play a bunch of power chords in different orders. They're the easiest songs in the world to play on top of that. You're ignorant...for an explanation, go to #2 2.) Sex Pistols are posers huh? The Sex Pistols came into being in the late 70's. That jerk from Green Day didn't even have pubic hair by that time. I'm not even a fan of punk music...but I'm aware that PUNK music WAS a movement in the late 70's. It featured musicians filled with anger. Musicians who produced that type of music because of the way they felt about the world. The way they dressed...the way they acted. It was all part of the punk movement. Green Day is one of those pseudo-punk bands that came into being in the late 80's/early 90's. THEY are the ones who are being posers and they are the ones who are copying other musicians. You wanna hear some Green Day songs 20 years into the past? Listen to some Sex Pistols. You wanna hear bands RIPPING off other bands? Listen to Green Day. I bet you've never even heard the Sex Pistols before 3.) You wanna know where I live? You wanna get in touch with me? FINE! Which way do you prefer? Email? email_address_removed Mail? Anyways, I was at this girl's house with 2 of her friends a few hours before I had to go and compete, and I said something like, "Yeah, I'll do that after Hanson." (It probably had something to do with transcribing keys for LITS or something, which I am now trying to do...) Anyways, when I said that, the 3 girls went nuts, yelling things such as, "You're playing for HANSON?!?!" I thought I was going to lie down and die right there on the basement floor. Not that any of this is relevant to the 'Jam discussion. It's just a bunch of stuff that happened. Oh, well. By the by, I won. If it makes any difference. SEEYA! This guy's talented, but I thought he could use a good songwriting lesson. But on the topic of Neo-Classical Shred, check out Geroge Bellas, , he has 2 cd's "Turn of the Milllenium" and "Mind over Matter" (both shrapnel). I'd reccommend MoM first, because the production is very tinny on "Turn . . ." kinda like comparing "Awake" to "IaW". This guy can shred with the best, he's faster than Yngwie, but not quite as fast as Joe Stump. But he's got the fluidity of Marty Friedman and Jason Becker, that neither Joe nor Yngwie have. Killer tunes also. ----------Art The Official Joe Stump Website http://www.joestump.com <<< For anyone who loves Artension or classically-influenced keyboard-based progmetal (how's that for pigeon-holing?) you must own Vitalij Kuprij's High Definition. This disc would be on my list of 10 best in 97 had I made such a list. It also features production and shredding guitar by Shrapnel's own Greg Howe. So go buy this disc now. (And I'm sure Mike Varney would agree.) >>> ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 Feb 1998 22:40:28 +0000 From: BA To: email_address_removed Subject: Re: YTSEJAM digest 3580 Message-ID: > > > > The Ibanez pickups were good, but I really love the Seymour sound. > > Since you are in Duncan camp with me, Vin, you're allowed to say it. > The old Ibanez stock pickups suck all hairy ass.
