He had patches of hair growing in strange places on his face with weird paper-clip looking things growing out of them. Maybe MP has been taking hits off JLB's bong at recent shows. In any case, the guy basically talked about how music has lost all of its raw energy and that was the feeling he was trying to convey when he did his "full body dry-heaves set to music." He apologized to Dylan, saying that the Dylan set was the only time he could get exposure. The sound was a little different since I put in different DiMarzzio's, but it truly is a rad guitar. Don't pay too much for it, though, they sold the one here for only $700 or so. But then if you find one with a spinning wheel or a loom included for more I wouldn't pass up the offer. I hear Ibanez loom's are pretty hard to find anymore. I remember they use to make them by the assload in Korea before the War and they closed all the sweatshops down. Now they're a collector's item. Especially if they came factory installed with a DiMarzzio abacus. Ahhh.... An unflappable Dylan stood two feet from the dancer, later identified as Michael Portnoy, who was hustled off by security after about 30 seconds. The organizers decline to press charges, police said, and Portnoy was released after being booted from the Music Hall. Portnoy, 26, told The Post he was hired as a back-up dancer, but conceived his prank as "an act of pure revolution." "It's my path toward superstardom," said Portnoy, who called himself "a multigenre mastermind artist." Portnoy, who described himself as "almost a vegetarian," said "SOY BOMB" means "sort of life and death and explosion." -- Wow. =) S. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Feb 1998 19:49:09 -0600 (CST) From: Pat Griffin To: ThE NuGgeTjAm Subject: Platypus Message-ID: > before leaving on tour, Derek did a record with John Myung, Rod > Morgenstein, and Ty Tabor from King's X. So basically, your whole post sums down to "People should be allowed to bitch about music *I* like, they should only bitch about music that *I*= hate". Personally, I really haven't listened to enough of Yngwie's music to pass judgement on it, I just hate it when people start complaining about all the complaining. Most of the reviews of "Facing The Animal" that I've seen on the list have been fairly positive, so I'm not really sure what you're getting so upset about anyway. What pisses me off is that you come across as one of the elitist prog-heads that I really hate - the people who think that if the music isn't technically complex, it isn't worth listening to. To me, those people are just as bad as the people who won't broaden their horizons out from Top-40 pap. >Enough Said! I only got to see them once on the fall tour, and everyone else in my group did not want to wait in line to get up front so I was going to go relly early to the concerts over the summer to get close. 2) DT will probably not play for very long. 3) With a ton of non-DT fans it will ruin the atmosphere a bit. 3) Not being a huge fan of either Deep Purple or most anyone else that would join the tour, I would be paying 3 bands to just see 1. Howeaver on the lighter side I do realize that- 1) It will give DT a lot more exposure. 2) They will most likely make more $$. So all in all it wont be to bad, after all it is DT, but I was hoping to catch them in a smaller venue again. Oh well it may still work somehow. Pretty damn heavy and sounds great. My first electric was an Ibanez EX370 that I bought from a guitar shop in 1992. I love the guitar. It's body is a cross between the Ibanez RG series and the Joe Satriani models. Real slick and very heavy. With my EX, I replaced the neck (after I accidentally broke the damn thing a few years back) with a Jackson neck, and I've put a Seymour Duncan trembucker pickup in it, and I'm planning on putting an DiMarzio Air Norton (Petrucci uses these) in the neck position. This guitar is almost the ultimate guitar for me, and it sounds and feels awesome. It's my main studio and live guitar, and I have two others to choose from. The only drawback that it has is that it's not a neck-through. Other than that, I'm totally satisfied with it. >Actually, I owned >one of these for a while, and the sound wasn't all that bad, and the >playability was alright. The tremolo on it sucked, though. But for only >$299, I wasn't going to complain. There you go :) Mine's the $600-$800 model with the double-locking Floyd. I was never a huge fan of the neck on the EX, but now that I've got the slicker, faster, flatter Jackson neck, the guitar's playability is a 9 out of 10 in my book. Did you have one of the models with the EX written in silver or in red? The models with the big EX symbol written in red really sucked a fat donkey ass, but the earlier ones (like what I have) are really smooth. ....Hmmmm. the 6 to 8 hundred model. Add to that the price of a new neck, a couple hundred on new pickups; ever think it would've been simpler (and wiser) to just purchase a Jem, or JPM, or one of their other high-line guitars? ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Feb 1998 21:42:07 -0600 From: "Aaron High" To: "Multiple recipients of list" Message-ID: I'm wondering though, did Metallica win the Best Rockabilly-Country-Rock award?
