Message-ID: Hi If you haven't heard EMPTY TREMOR yet, go and buy them NOW ! This young prog metal band from Italy are awesome. Just incredible how some 16 years old boys can make music like this (Yes, 16 years old !!!!!!) Shame on you HANSON ;-) Just trust me and buy their album "APOCOLOKYNTOSYS". The Drummer is just incredible !!! Mike Portnoy in his young version. Sure you will hear how this band were influenced by Dream Theater. I'm sure Dr.Mosh will love this band. (especially the Drummer) If you can't get this album in USA, go to my PROG OR DIE page and click on the Rising Sun logo. I will make a copy of their album on tape and will give it to Mike Portnoy, when they will come to Bonn/Germany (4,12,97). Every time you go into a different screen, it opens another Internet Explorer, until I have 6 or 7. GRRRRRRRR The bands list has not been updated in a while. My best friend is the drummer for Cauldron Born and they've cancelled their participation a while ago, yet their name continues to show up there. In short, if the organizers of the festival are as bad with the festival itself as they are with the maintenance of the web page, this will not help the prog community much... On a completely different subject: I've been listening a lot to my new Jars of Clay CD. Not an eletric guitar in the whole CD except for a solo in one song! (am I the only one that's kinda getting tired of hearing distorted guitars everywhere?). The songwriting is absolutely wonderful and touching, and the production is great. Very, very cool. K. I guess I'm lucky, then, that my girlfriend is into DT. Granted, she likes the Eagles, Steve Miller, and other shit like that, but all in all, I'm pretty lucky that she's into most of the music that I'm into. One time, she was in her car at Salem State with one of her hippie freak friends, and I had made her a mix tape of DT. So she and her friend are driving along, and Metropolis comes on, and her friend says, "What is *this*?" My girlfriend says, "Dream Theater. Like it?" The girl sneers and says, "God, NO!" So my girlfriend stops the car and says, "Get out." Lemme say that one again. My girlfriend kicked her out of the car because she sneered at Dream Theater. If everything could be judged objectively, then someone could write a big book of "Right and Wrong" and there would never be a war or crime or inhuman treatment of monkey spooge or whatever. Now if you want, I'll write said book, but Clark Abel would show up for the autograph signing with a shotgun and a box of shells. Your understanding of the world seems quite irrational (to me anyways). Not every PERSON (let's be relatively PC) thinks the same way. To use everyone on this list's FAVORITE point proving example (Actually, more to get a few of you to roll your eyes at me as you hold back the vomit!) Hitler tried to objectify his standards, and it cost millions of people their lives. Adolf's musical equivalent, Yngwie, tries to objectify his standards, and thus he is the only guitarist who is not sloppy. I disagree with those standards... and I have examples of a score of guitarists who make Yngwie (Pronounce it Ngewie, like Chewy... sounds more fun that way!) look sloppy. You are extremely narrow minded if you think that your own opinions are objective, and that if we disagree, we're merely not thinking straight. You're entitled to disagree with someone on a matter of opinion, but this is a bunch of bullshit, dude. > > How does it materialize in my life. > > - At one time it happened that I liked some CDs after several > > auditions. Probably he is wonderful key'ist > > but I noticed that keys on FII are rather lame (they are not such > > emphasised like on earlier CDs). Lame is your objective standard? Well, how about this... my objective standard is that the keys are great. Does that mean I'm not thinking straight? Or does it mean that this is subjective in nature, and you truly don't understand the difference between objective and subjective? On another note, my objective standard is that your post was "lame." > > Perhaps Petrucci has wanted to dominate DT's music and .... such > > personality like Kevin had to leave DT. I agree... I think that's an immature argument too.... you don't have to be able to play like DT to judge whether or not you like the album. However, to say that your opinions are objective and that everyone else is just not thinking, is SO FAR from mature, that the light from "mature" would take 10,000 years to reach you. I'd personally rather childishly misunderstand things than be an ass. (I know, I fail right? Fuck you all! :) > > E.g. If a footballer makes a misses I criticize him.
