Ouch. Why was i not informed that a > band had so totally defeated DT and rush in the long songs department? Hehe...welcome do the Fates side! APSOG is definitely an album to listen to SEVERAL times before forming a true opinion of (more than FII is, IMHO). Every time I listen to this album, I get more into it. The first time I listened to it, I wasn't blown away buy it, but did really like a lot of the different parts of the song. But as I've picked up more of the atmosphere of the song and the meaning, the more I love this album! To the best of my knowledge, on their second leg of the US tour they will be playing this all the way through again. So if you missed the first leg, than make sure to get to these shows as it will probably be your last chance to see this live! (other than on the video) Tour dates can be found on the mailing list page listed in my .sig, or on Island In The Stream which can be found through progmetal.org (look in the ring). > My only other experience w/FW is parallels, which i really liked and > listened to plenty until i lost it. Well, I guess that's > it for now. Moo. If you liked Parallels. I would also suggest Perfect Symmetry (I like PS a little better than Parallels, but most people seem to be the other way). Inside Out is good for songs like Monument, but overall not their strongest. Chasing Time is a good compilation if you want a sampler of all albums except APSOG. After that, move back in time starting with No Exit (or get NE before IO even...because it's another awesome album). -- Mike Jones, email_address_removed __________ Cappy _________ email_address_removed Parallels - Official Fates Warning Mailing List | Progressive Metal Hub http://www.progmetal.org/fateswarning | http://www.progmetal.org ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Nov 1997 21:00:20 -0500 (EST) From: Damon Fibraio To: TheCowGod Subject: Re: Damon Driving? It is a fusion band from Italy and in their line-up is Furio Chirico; IMO one of the best drummers in all the world. Starcastle: A Yes clone but its a nice band. If you didn't like the 80's era of Yes, then check this band out. One of their CD is at Epic label. I can't believe it could cost that much but if somebody wants it, tell me. Meanwhile, I know this has been discussed before, but I'm trying to figure out exactly how hard it is to get the Lie single. Thus, the potential "run" of an album was considerably less. If you control for that factor, plus the average length of albums back then (as you mentioned) and technology, it seems that the record industry still sought to "milk" an album for all it was worth before releasing a new product, just that the conception of time has changed. That's not to say that there weren't moments where bands had multiple albums on the charts at the same time, but those are the exception. I was one of the first people that called to request it several weeks ago, so I'm feeling pretty pleased that they're still playing it. Much to my surprise a scant 1 1/2 hours later on their new music segment they play You Not Me. Sorta. It's funny...with the song the length and style that it is, I figured it just about ideal for radio. Someone disagrees with me. They somehow managed to butcher it. I honest to god thought the CD player skipped right before the little jam towards the end kicks in. Very blatant jump through about half of it. (So, I figure they save, what, about 15-20 seconds?) and the end gets cut a little short too. Tell me this is a backwoods Maine thing. I'm still calling them regularly trying to convince them that Peruvian Skies would be a good one, but they haven't listened to me yet. So, has anyone else heard this, or am I just on crack?
