Message-ID: As a public service announcement to all jammers ..... The bad news. The Japanese version of FII (including the bonus CD) is now basically sold out at the retail level. I have been told that there is no plan to produce more. Of course, they will be producing more copies of FII, but they will be without the bonus CD. If/when you try to order this CD in the future, please do yourself a favor and ensure that you are getting a copy that has the bonus CD. Where did you see Kevin Moore? Was he actually at a Dream Theater concert? If so, why? The impression he's always given is that he wants to put some distance between him and his "former self". I remember when ACOS first came out, somebody on this list asked him what he thought of it and he said that he hadn't even listened to it yet. I'm just really curious; sometimes you think you know what's going on in that poor boy's head, and then he goes and pulls a fast one on you... I've always liked Sammy's voice, but if you listen carefully to his solo stuff and his VH stuff, it becomes apparent that he just can't write. Example: the first single off his new album. It's not a bad song, but it takes so long to kick in. And by the time it does, it's over. It's a frustrating song to listen to. He's a great entertainer, and a great singer, but he ain't much to write home about by himself. And I originally posted because I just can't imagine his voice in IME. Too... well, too Van Halen-ish for that style of music. > Two and a half hours of pure Sammy!!!! Although I too was a little disappointed by FII, DT are certainly not regressing. Take a look at Rush: they abandoned the long-prog-song format after Moving Pictures, but IMO the music they were continuing to put out as their style matured was still amazing stuff. On another note... Has anybody on the Jam heard anything by the group Braindance? I've received a promotional add from one of the progressive mail-order places that sends me catalogs and they sound really cool. Their music is (self?-) described as "Cinematic-Neuromantic Progressive New Age Gothic Metal Fusion". They're based in NYC, and apparently have played clubs in that area--any NYC jammers know anything about them? They have a website at www.buzzweb.com/braindance if you want to read the numerous reviews that they've put in the flyer that I have. --Topher ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Nov 1997 14:51:21 -0500 From: "James Arin Colberg" To: , Subject: Re: CD replicas of Mike Bahr's CD's Message-ID: <01bcf136$ae789f80$message_id_removed> >> interested in having the cover art. The average is like a little less than 1 dead per every good disc. So it's more like $10 or $12 plus $1 for a bubble pack & $1.50 for shipping. So it runs in between $12.50 & $14.50 in the end. At times I have more dead discs while at other times I have less. I've actually bought Angra Holy Land (2CD) because of "Queen Of The Night" which is the best Angra song ever. It's only availible on the Japanese version of Holy Land or on my limited edition 2CD (3000 items world wide). Well, "Chega de Saudade" is ok. As you know it's traditional song and nothing special to me. But "Queen Of The Night" is really awesome. You must hear it. I think, DR.Mosh has a mp3 sample of "Queen Of The Night" on his page. It reminds me a bit of Under Glass Moon. Great song. Or, since 2x burners are down to about $225 (Philips CDD2600 internal, for example), you should just invest into one, charge a slightly lower price (with a larger profit margin, since you shouldn't have any failures), and your sales would pay for the burner rather quickly. Also, you should be able to find blank CDr for $2-3 per unit, without buying in bulk. When I buy in bulk, I can find them easily for under $2. Try http://www.disksdirect.com. Just my suggestions. I honestly don't care what your profit margin is, or how many you sell. It just sounded like you were wasting too much time and money with your current equipment.
