Message-ID: As many of you know, in the summer of 1996 I released a boot 2-CD set called Critical Mass, of Rush, from the Counterparts tour. It's a pure soundboard boot and the sound is nothing short of outstanding. It sold out around March 1997 totally finally and completely. In recent months I have been scrounging more to sell by making CDR clones of it for friends and giving them a little cash in exchange for their CM silver originals, and that source has finally run completely dry. Indeed, there simply are no more left. However! I forgot about the defect overage. When you order a CD print run, they include some extras in case of defects. These do not have the original liner or packaging (just jewelcase and discs) but they _are_ original CM silvers, in 100% perfect condition. I will photocopy the liners for those who buy them. CM sold for $50 originally, as it is a 2-CD set. I'm offering these CMs at $45, since the liner isn't included. I figure it's a fair discount. I have exactly eight sets, and an extra Disc 2 (so if your CM disc 2 has been acting up lately, let me know and I can replace it for you). The first eight interested people will get 'em. Take care everybody!! -- -Mike Bahr/Prism Records -durnik @ goodnet . com -http://www.goodnet.com/~durnik/ ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Nov 1997 19:50:59 +0900 From: Paul Dyer To: email_address_removed Subject: Black metal Video.. Message-ID: Roger... >>Uh... I'm sorry I don't know what you mean by "cold", but it is >>definitely fast. :-) Cold is the image I get in my mind when I hear it...it sounds like frosted winds howling over an icy plain... Almost as though it's recorded on a frozen lake and instead of picks they are using icicles to strum their guitars!! Also check out a band called "Immortal" for coldness!! >>And don't you into black metal find it interesting that the songs >>are "noisy" at first, but with some nice melodies deep, very deep "inside" >>them? This is the beauty of black metal!! Whenever I jump in my car and my Emperor CD is on no matter what volume it is at i have to turn it down because it is just too harsh. Then as my ears relax a little (phew!) I turn it up and in behind all the fuzz and distortion and screams and blast beats - you'll find melodies and harmonies that epitomise(?) coldness & sadness. This is why I take them seriously when they say black metal art. It is simple music that has so many levels!! Sure some bands are just shite cashing in on the scene but others take it seriously - Emperor, Arcturus, Ulver, Immortal, Satyricon etc. This is their art - some may not like it...but I don't think Picasso was that unbelievable either.. Anyway I'm glad you enjoy it as much as i do!! Cheers Paul D. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Nov 1997 19:59:20 +0900 From: Paul Dyer To: email_address_removed Subject: Crude post!! When the Anglos/Normans conquered them, they decided that these would be dirty words, because the Saxons were savages. The exceptions to this are a few words that have a specific meaning in English and are insulting when used directly (bastard, etc.). -Brian ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Nov 1997 09:25:25 -0200 From: Parffit Jim Balsanelli da Silva To: "'email_address_removed'" Subject: Brazilian Fan Message-ID: Hello DT Fans!!! It's the first time I mail to this mailist, but I'm not a new DT fan. All the work from DT keep playing in my head all the time: A Fortune In Lies, Boombay Vindaloo, Pull Me Under, Surrounded, Voices, The Silent Man, Burning My Soul, Take Away My Pain, etc... For example, while I'm writing this e-mail (now I'm at work, and dressing the Awake T-shirt), I'm listening to Dance Of Eternity bootleg!!! About the FII bad commentary, DT won't keep playing Pull Me Under or A Mind Beside Itself for the rest of their lives (although they're all great song)... A band always have to open new horizons, play new = stuffs; and DT made this with FII, but this don't give the reason to say that FII is a bad album (or worth than I&W ou Awake). I'd like to ask for some person that have contact with DT members ou crew to help to help me with one question... When will DT come back to Brazil??? Last (and only) time they went was on September, but it took place in S=E3o Paulo (far from my home town 'bout 9 hours) and I only = saw the show advertising a week after it. LaBrie said to a Brazilian magazine that DT would come back in the end of this tour (FII tour)... Well, there are much more DT fans here in Brazil, you may be certain of this. :-) Well, when I talked to Petrucci, he said that they were quite impressed with the (warm) reception they had and that he never thought DT were that huge here. He said that he would like to return here and that they would probably do this in the FII tour (this tour will last for 10 months -- I heard this on radio, so don't count on it). > Keep the Dream alive!!! -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Rogerio Brito - email_address_removed.br - http://www.ime.usp.br/~rbrito Undergraduate Computer Science Student - "Windows? OK, maybe Queensryche is feeling pressure, I have no idea, though I suspect it might be true, given the alleged emptiness of several sites on the HitNF tour (which I skipped solely because of obscene ticket prices at Jones Beach). With Rush, though... I don't think TFE is at all grungy, just less textured, more riff-based. Not the point of debate, though. I know Rush faced enormous record-company pressures in, oh, 1974/75, prior to the success of 2112, but from what I understand, and from every article and every shred of knowledge I can pick up about them, they are quite free to make music in any way they desire, given that their records are guarantees to be gold in both the US and Canada. If they are facing pressures, then show some proof, because that goes against everything they say, and everything I've heard about them... I am also offering an option to those of you who are only interested in the music and are not really interested in having the cover art. A CD-R copy in a jewel case without a cover or tray liner will cost $15. This is a great option if you are short on cash because all you need to do is visit Mike Bahr's Web Site to get the track list and make your own liner. Cool, huh? :^) A CD-R replica in a jewel case with a cover and tray liner will cost $20. The cover art is scanned from the original and printed on 28 lb. coated inkjet paper with a HP DeskJet 870Cse Professional Series printer. The exception being Subconscious because at the time I did not have a scanner so I recreated the artwork myself. If you want to see what this cover looks like Mike has an image of it on his Web Site.
