Does anybody know what the snippets of dialogue are before the vocal intro in 6:00? It sounds like maybe a conversation between a nun and a Mother Superior: (Just a guess :) VOICE 1: "What about the honor of God, __________?" [can't recognize last part] VOICE 2: "I know all about the honor of God, Mary Jane!" Is this from some old movie or something? A friend of mine jokingly said that VOICE #2 was actually JLB mocking an old nun. I'm sure it's bullshit, though! Anybody can help me out on this? I won't debate which is the best KX album because I like them all, but FHL got the most radio/MTV airplay and will probably have the most recognizable sound for a new listener. > NP: Ty Tabor - naomi's solar pumpkin Yes! Great CD and must-have for all real KX fans. Plus, if you get it now, you'll have a very collectable CD since it is being re-recorded with different musicians and 2 extra songs for an official release. ~Matt ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 02 Sep 1997 10:55:38 -0300 From: Marcelo Vanzin To: Freaks R Us Subject: 7 string, and Stratovarius brief concert review Message-ID: Hey there jammanoids!!! Fisrt of all, thanks for Eckie (my mail to you bounced back, for some obsucre reason I don't know :) ), Mr. Ptacek and Heike for the info on 7 string guitars. I'll be taking a look at that. Now for the cool stuff, I'm just back from the Stratovarius concert tonight. It was really great!!! I don't need to say I was kinda sad cause I missed their acoustic show yesterday, because the price was way too high... Now, for the cool stuff... The opening band was a local band called Wizards. Kind of a Helloween sounding band, pretty talented guys, some cool songs, nice guitar work... The vocalist, which everybody kept saying was like 3 times better than André Mattos, was not really that much, I'd say not even close to Mattos, but still a great singer, with a nice voice. High poits in the show: the covers of Helloween's "Future World" and Ozzy's "Mr. Crowley". Stratovarius then came in, and the show was simply amazing. A nice setlist (which I won't be typing, cause I don't remeber everything :) ), they played for about 1h45min, with solos from each of them in the middle... Needless to say, Jörg Michael kicked ass. :) Tolkki and Johanson (sp?) made some cool duets, and the show was really fantastic, the audience was also amazing, everybody singing and banging heads and jumping all the time. :) (At least I did :) ). To name some songs they played, mainly songs from Visions and Episode, with two or three from other albuns... They made the encore (when they came back and held a flag from the Brazilian Stratovarius Fan Club), playing "Legions". The sound was fine for Wizards, maybe with the bass too low. It was promptly fixed when Stratovarius came, and the sound was really great. The theater's acoustic was fine, everything sounded crisp and clear (although sometimes it seemed that the volume was too high). Also, the theater's name is kinda cool: "Vampire's Theater" (tell Anne Rice about that! :) I love her books, btw.) Hmmm... ok, that's it. :) -- []'s /**********************************************\ |* Marcelo Vanzin *| |* email_address_removed *| |* http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/6308/ *| \**********************************************/ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 8 Nov 1997 11:17:09 -0800 (PST) From: "Paul W. My hotmail account could not send this to ax.com, so I'm using Nicole's account to send this along. A few things to talk about. First, talk about the Easton sticks and the nylon tips making marks on your cymbals and heads. The only time I've noticed this problem was with some red nylon tips. Maybe white or (ideally) clear nylon might minimize this problem. But yeah I agree that good old wood sticks have best stood the test of time, at least for rock playing. This reminds me of a humorous day in high school marching band (I guess this was 10 years ago... can't believe it's been that long). The snare drum players go through lots of sticks due to all the rimshots, and one day our band/drumline director decided to give us these new graphite sticks, which were heavier and more durable. Well, we tried them and they actually felt great and weren't chipping at all when we played. However, after about 1/2 hour of practice most of the snare players had broken through their drum head. :) Next topic... I saw a display of Christmas CDs at Best Buy a couple of days ago, and one of the featured CDs was Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Christmas Eve and Other Stories. They had 20 or 30 copies there. I was pleased. If you didn't get this last season, now's your chance. >Subject: Confirmed Fates Warning Tour dates as of 11/4/97 > 12/18 The Abyss Houston TX Fates played at the Abyss on 8/1/97. They had to stop APSoG about 1/3 through because their keyboards were blowing out that place's old, crappy speaker system. They just finished with their 5 encore songs and that was it. About a 45 minute show. And now they're going back??? >does anybody know what are the voices that can barely heard at the >end of You not Me? is this someone talking or is it a sample from a >movie or something? I posted a few weeks ago that I had deciphered some of this talking. It sounds like you're hearing a guy talking on the telephone. Mostly I could only pick out phrases that he said. He says the word "Antichrist" several times. One of the clearest phrases I heard is "this planet is history!" at about 4:33. Anyway, it doesn't make much sense, unless he's describing the plot of a weird movie or something. Finally, check out this link which is a Seattle entertainment web site - http://seattle.sidewalk.com/detail/37634 Their comment on the DT show: "Thrash/progressive-rock band Dream Theater headlines this bill, but the true stars are opening band Big Wreck."
