Our Lady Peace played a short, but very good set. the singer has a good vocal style, even if he doesn't interact with the crowd at all. the highlights were a very powerful version of a song called "car crash" and a neat version of the Beatles' "dear prudence" to close the set. Everclear was really sloppy - high distortion, turn it up real loud, and GO! lots of energy, but nothing really inspiring. *but*, they redeemed themselves by playing an acoustic block in the middle of their set that was very very well done, including a great version of "heartspark dollarsign". day 3: tomorrow night (11/6) - the fine line music cafe. bobby llama, with the surahoolies and spy mob. i don't know what time it starts for sure, but if you get there by 8, you probably won't miss much... the FLMC is just down the street from first ave (addy is something like 300 1st ave). i highly suggest anyone from the minneapolis area to come check it out - if nothing else than to see a really good basist play (and what is it with basists anyway - this guy is practically mute too.) ok, that's enough out of me. latah, id ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 5 Nov 1997 10:55:31 -0500 (EST) From: Albert Balkiewicz To: email_address_removed Subject: Re: Majesty tattoos Message-ID: > > > How many other people out there have DT permanently emblazoned on > themselves? or is it just the Chads on the list? :) I have a superb > majesty symbol on my lower leg. I totally agree!!! One of the few good things to come from the Dream Theater delays was that I really got into bands like Conception, Shadow Gallery, Superior and especially ANGRA. I don't have the "huge smile", but I do have to close my eyes through most of their songs just to zone out the rest of the world and savor the moment. Are you talking about "Carry On" from HOLY LAND? If they're trying to sound like anybody, I think it sounds a lot like Helloween (Keeper of the 7 Keys era). I guess Kai Hansen's involvement probably had a lot to do with it. In any case, it totally kicks ass and would be a great addition to any prog metal collection. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 5 Nov 1997 14:39:56 -0200 (EDT) From: Rogerio Brito To: Multiple recipients of list Subject: Re: Eve, To Live Forever Message-ID: On Wed, 5 Nov 1997, Brian Hayden wrote: > Well, now that I'm back at work I used my nice computer here to download > the MP3s of 'Eve' and 'To Live Forever'....man, they're great songs. And the production makes it shine among the others... Although you can find the "The Silent Man" single quite easily (just check one of those various on-line stores), you'll definitely have a tough time trying to find the "Lie" single (the one with "To Live Forever"). And even if you find it, it will cost you a lot. Ibanez makes several 7 strings now, in full production. There are 2 Universes being made, one RG 770 (in a couple colors), an archtop, and supposedly an acoustic, though no one has seen this in a store yet (it's on their page) To my knowledge, all of their pickups are the crappy DiMarzio's with the near-flat response. I don't think DiMarzio will wind you custom pickups in other configurations. The good news? EMG, Bartolini, and SYMOURE DUNCAN! make 7 string pickups. Duncan will make pickups for you in any of their styles.
