It was featured in my newspaper yesterday morning, I checked it out ahd thought it would be a pretty good adrenaline rush. It's a web page that, upon loading, sends up an error message that tells you a virus is being unleashed and you have NO choice but to click "Ok". And once you click it says "You've been had" and Happy Halloween and stuff. PC World also had tons of other great pc trick programs such as one that appears to delete your hard drive...its hysterical!! I sent it to my friend and he called me up immediately freakin' out! You don't like me, fine. I don't CARE about you. I didn't respond because I think you're full of hot air, Clark. You seem to think there must be a winner and a loser in everything, like some kind of popularity contest. Every argument we've had has been two stubborn people who eventually have to agree to disagree. If your ego makes you think that this means I'm full of shit, or that you've stumped me, then fine. I bow to your greatness, and fail to have any counter for your stunning logic. Ego gratified? You need to accept that I don't CARE about any of what you're saying, and the jammers generally don't need this trash either. I could respond to each of your little jabs, but I think that would be stupid, since you wouldn't accept that anyways. Every accusation you've tossed at me (and there were insults, Clark, so let's not pretend) I could have tossed at you too, but I don't care enough. I have nothing to prove to you or to anyone here. If people can't see through what you're saying then so be it. I'm not impressed by your attempts to make me look bad, and I'm not motivated enough by your insults and accusations to address them. Well, A looooooooooooong time ago there was this blind dude named Homer (not simpson (DOH)) who "wrote" a couple of loooooooooong poems called the Illiad and the Odyssey. He never actually wrote the words down, but instead told it so many times that ppl learned it, and eventually wrote it down for him. Maybe if tape recorders were around way back then, then he could have "written" more stuff, and maybe we would have all sorts of stuf by other poets/writters/ect... who couldn't write. And, maybe if they were around even earlier, the whole mess of written language could have been spared, then we wouldn't have to spend so much time learning useless stuff like reading, writting, spelling, grammer, ect... (I mean, it's all useless anyway right?) But anyway, I can just imagine Mozart standing in front of the orchestra saying, "Ok, this one's in G, with an B minor arpegio in the clarinets, and can the horns do some sort of lead part there? Oh nevermind, I'm gonna just overdub a viola solo here" There are many talented musicians who can't read music, and there are many inteligent people who are illitirate. Someone who doesn't read music might see no point in it, just as someone who can't read will think "if I made it this far without reading, I don't need it". It is interesting however, that the oldest recording still in existance is of a friend of Edison's saying something like, "I am terrified that so much bad music will be recorded forever" laterz n' stuf, kevin hammer ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 1 Nov 1997 20:16:16 +0000 (GMT) From: George Tryfonas To: Multiple recipients of list Subject: Re: i saw DT live!!!! & stuff Message-ID: On Sat, 01 Nov 1997, Santiago Leon wrote: > thread... i went o the concert with two friends... neither was a DT > fan... one of them has played piano for 9 years... > after the concert... the non-musician was like "it was cool, but didn't > do anything for me"...on the other hand the musician was completely in > state of shock!!!... couldn't believe there could be so much talent > packed in a band... she was like "i hate you!... you know i'm broke and > now i'll have to buy all of these guys records..."... at last someone > understands my craziness about DT... > > has something that evident ever happened to anyone???.. I think that what happened is not due to the fact that the second person could read music and the first couldn't, but because the first person could not PLAY music. Without being able to play an instrument, one cannot easily understand how complex and plainly difficult a song may be, nor see a band's great talent. It has happened to me lots of times, knowing people who could play an instrument and say "Wow, these people are cool! So complex and difficult..." where others who don't play music had no special comment to make... just that "it's ok". ********************************************************************** | George Tryfonas | God give me the power to take breath | | CSE 1st Year | from a breeze, and call life from a cold | | Univeristy of Kent | metal frame | | Canterbury, UK | - Kevin Moore, Dream Theater | ********************************************************************** ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 1 Nov 1997 15:26:32 -0500 From: Nick Bogovich To: "'email_address_removed'" Subject: Posting comments and For sale: DT CDs Message-ID: <113A23EBF1F6D011B8A90060971611D519CBCA@BUDLITE> I just want to make a few comments before getting to the real content of my post: ]From Ytsejam Digest 3186 1) Re: Chris Ptacek by email_address_removed 4) Re: Chris Ptacek by CLARK ABEL If you prefer content that fits the guidelines of the subscription rules, then help to fight your cause. But sometimes, and not always, but sometimes, there is a right and a wrong. And you were wrong to go off on Rich the way you did yesterday. But what disgusts me about you lately is not what you say in any given post. It's the way you come on here, shoving your "veteran" status (whatever the fuck that's worth on a stupid mailing list) on all of us, and telling us to clean up our acts. You don't like what you see on this list, the flames and insults and everything else, so you tell us we should stop. It's not what you want to see. Then, two days later, you whine like a baby when Rich very politely disagrees with you. You acted like a complete ass yesterday. Exactly the kind of behavior you claim to be above. And, instead of an apology, you try to defend yourself. You are the worst kind of hypocrite. > You need to accept that I don't CARE about any of what >you're saying, and the jammers generally don't need this trash >either. Then why don't you be as noble as you claim to be and not respond to me at all? Your ego is just as big as mine. > I could respond to each of your little jabs, but I think >that would be stupid, since you wouldn't accept that anyways. That's a totally unwarranted attitude. If you said anything in responseto my accusations, I would listen to what you say, and you might regain some of my respect if you had any reasonable explanation for your behavior. Not that I expect that you care about my respect, but I have always listened to others when they disagreed with me, and have been more than willing to revise what I've said if others show that I'm wrong. This situation is no different. > Every >accusation you've tossed at me (and there were insults, Clark, so >let's not pretend) Of course I insulted you. Only a fool could miss that. Unlike you, I won't claim I didn't say what I said. I won't try to write that all off as a joke. I take responsibility for what I said, even if it turns out to be wrong. What I said yesterday is that I didn't use any childish insults in the form of name-calling. >I could have tossed at you too, but I don't care >enough. Well, by saying that, you just did toss those accusations back at me. And you're not justified in doing so. I accuse you of claiming to respect everyone else's opinions, when in fact you do not. I also accuse you of being tremendously inconsistent from one post to the next. I am not guilty of these things. You claim to believe that everyone's opinion is equally valid. Yet you said yesterday that you have no respect for me. You may disagree with me, but I try very hard to explain, qualify, and justify every opinion I post to this list. I may not always succeed, but if you don't respect my opinion, then whose do you respect? I'm not better than you in this respect, but I'm not so pretentious and self-righteous about it. The truth is, I DON'T respect alot of people's opinions, because I think that alot of people's opinions are poorly thought-out and poorly justified. I won't claim that I do. I may be a liitle bit of an elitist, but at least I can admit it to myself. > I have nothing to prove to you or to anyone here. Anyone can see that that's not true. > If people can't see through what you're saying then so be it. you act as if I'm trying to decieve people. there is nothing to "see through". I hope that some people will read what I have written about you and think more carefully about what you write in the future. You are certainly one of the most respected members of this list. I am not blind to that fact, and I don't take lightly the accusations I make against you. But while your individual posts look good, the body of what you have posted to this list is extremely inconsistent. I have seen you contradict yourself in separate posts in the same day. People may not agree with me, but I make no attempts at deception. >I'm not impressed by your attempts to make me look bad, Why would you be? > Get on with your life, bro.
