Message-ID: Well, someone asked for some Ytsehistory lessons... so figured I'd pipe in for at least part of it... Lets see, it all started some time back in Jan of 1993, probably early in the month, because I subscribed when I got back from winter break (after my friends at home convinced me to check out this cool CD called Images & Words by none other than our favorite band) in mid Jan to get issue 19 of the digest (reading on horrid VAX mail). At this time, people were just starting to get into DT, and very few of us had ever heard of WDADU. A few of us actually started to maintain a list of all of the CD shops (that we knew of) in the country that carried it, and where it could be mail ordered from. This was the big news of the first few monts on the 'Jam. As time went on (and summer break came w/o email access), we started to get some cool connections to the band. Jen Alpert arrived on the scene, and we got all sorts of inside info from Kevin through her. Later, C-Man arrived, doing promotions for the band (this was Awake time when he arrived), doing stuff like sending out promo packages to those of us who were frequent posters, and more well known in these areas... (these packages included Awake posters like the studio photo inside of Awake, and random CDs, such as the Eudopean or Japanese versions of LatM). He also started to get people back stage passes for shows, which of course started about 3-4 weeks after I saw DT for the 2nd & 3rd time when they opened the Awake tour in Providence & Boston. As the Awake tour was approaching, news came (I really don't remember the first source, possibly C-Man in private email) that Kevin was leaving. I remember emailing Jen to ask her about this, and she verified the info, although I think she actually posted a few days/weeks later to the Jam about it... Anyway, thats a very brief history of the Jam, from my perspective. Anyone else want to post some more info, clarify, expand, whatever... -- +------------------------------------------+-----------------------+ | A daily dose of eMpTyV | Dream Theater | | will flush you mind right down the drain | Falling Into Infinity | | --- taken from: Just Let Me Breathe --- | In Stores NOW!! | +------------------------------------------+-----------------------+ Michael Burstin: email_address_removed Oh my God, they've killed Kenny!! http://www.cs.brandeis.edu/~mikeb/ Coalition Against Unsolicited Commercial Email: http://www.cauce.org ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Oct 1997 23:41:40 -0400 From: "Bruce D. Pardon my french but what kind of fucking dickhead is trying to turn this already off track list into an auction? Not to mention that the band members who read this list must be completely offended seeing 4 cds that they never released being auctioned off. It is bad enough that only 1 in 10 posts on this list actually have any real content but keep you bullshit auctions reserved for those who mail you with interest. I'm only on this list for DT info. I've probably gone four months without * reading a jam (although they are still arriving in my inbox daily), and * have posted very scarsely. A lot has happened since May, but things are * back in order finally. * First things first. I am no longer at Mizzou, I have transfered to UMSL. * This means a new web site, new email address, and new mailing address and * phone number. The XXXL, XXL, and M shirts are sold out. I did manage to make the money to make the final payment in time for the shirts. From this point on, the shirts will be going towards paying back my loan for the downpayment. Thanks again to everyone who has ordered, and all of you who plan to. I would just like to take this chance to thank everyone who has been so supportive of the shirts... It's nice to know that my work on this project is appriciated. And special thanks to Chris Hailey for the amazing artwork. ======== Web Page ======== There is a web page online, complete with ordering instructions, facts and figures, comments on the shirts, actual scans directly off the shirts, a list of paid orders, and a mini FAQ. Check it out at: http://www.prognosis.com/gabbo/ in the Dream Theater section. I owe a million to Chris Ptacek for the web space, it means a lot. ======= Details ======= The Ytsejam shirts are two sided prints. The front of the shirt features a *full color* raytraced graphic from Chris Hailey in Washington. The graphic is a beautifully done scene with the Majesty logo floating behind a group of marble columns on a tile floor with a wide view of space visible behind. The back of the shirt is in a solid light blue color. The majority of the design is a huge Majesty logo, framed by the Dream Theater title at the top, the mailing list address on the sides and "Ytsejam" at the bottom. Below that is "Internet Mailing List" between two more Majesty logos. The current lot of shirts is 217 (they printed up more than I asked for, but I'm not complaining). If those run out, and demand is high enough, I may run another with a slightly different design. You can check out all of the details, as well as a preview of the shirts at: http://www.prognosis.com/gabbo/ in the Dream Theater section. ======= Pricing ======= The cost of the shirts is $16 each. The shirt is damn close to concert quality, so $16 is a steal (last Dream Theater concert I was at charged $23 for a shirt!). If you are picking the shirt up from me directly the $16 price stands. If you can't get the shirt in person, you can order one through the mail for $20 to cover shipping. I spoke with the people at the post office and I've decided to set the shipping prices outside the USA at $9, for a total of $25. I realize this is damn expensive for a tshirt, and I'm sorry. If individual prices are signifigantly less expensive, I will gladly return a check for the balance. The rundown: L or XL shirt, picked up: $16 L or XL shirt, mailed in the US: $20 L or XL shirt, mailed outside the US: $25 ============ Availability ============ ** Please note that for the time being, these numbers are inaccurate. There are XL and L shirts remaining, and the others are sold out. I will get the exact numbers as soon as I can. ** Size: Sold: Reserved: Remaining: Total: ----- ----- --------- ---------- ------ M 5 0 0 5 L 32 0 6 38 XL 85 0 61 146 XXL 24 0 0 24 XXXL 4 0 0 4 ------ ----- --------- ---------- ------ Totals 150 0 67 217 ======== Ordering ======== The shirts are open to mail ordering now. Mail orders will be shipped out every Wednesday via Priority Mail for US orders, and airmail for all others. Checks and money orders will be cashed before the order goes out, most likely on Monday. So far, mail orders have gone well, the only problem I have had has been with the bank, not the post office, so don't worry about your orders. All US orders are insured for the amount paid for the shirts and shipping, and insurance on airmail depends on the country and other aspects. To order, send a check or money order for the proper US dollar amount (see pricing above) to: Pat Griffin 6581 Bradley Ave <-- Note the change of address! St. Louis, MO 63139 Make them payable to Pat Griffin, and remember this in US dollars. Be sure to include: Your name. Email address. Mailing address. Phone number. Quantity of shirts you want to order. The size of each. Whether this order is for pickup for mail order. I will keep you up to date on the status of the shirts through email. ============= Miscellaneous ============= Remember that all the info can be found online at: http://www.prognosis.com/gabbo/ in the Dream Theater section. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you have any questions feel free to email me at: email_address_removed Or call at: (314)645-8649 h t t p : / / w w w . p r o g n o s i s . c o m / g a b b o / | Pat Griffin Reality Squared Design | | email_address_removed email_address_removed | h t t p : / / w w w . p r o g n o s i s . c o m / g a b b o / ------------------------------ End of YTSEJAM Digest 3136 **************************
