I didn't think it would happen in my wildest dreams, but it did. I guess all of the radio support from WJJO 94.1 really made a big difference. I hear BMS at all times of the day on that station; must be in heavy rotation. As far as the venue, I've only been to one other concert there, Fates Warning/Sanctuary on the Perfect Symmetry tour. The sound was about average I would have to say. I have a friend who's been to a bunch of shows there and he says the sound was pretty good. (although they were not metal shows, so this may make a difference) Oh yeah, WJJO is playing FII in its entirety tonight as part of their "Vote the Rock" feature. They beat out Everclear I think. I paid $25 fucking dollars to see DT. Now, I would still pay $100 to see them, but this still pisses me off. Why can't they play like a 2 hour set? Why is the setlist so limited. THEY AREN'T EVEN PLAYING YTSEJAM!!!! I sure hope they vary the setlist OR extend it, otherwise this concert is going to be 'not what I expected'. -Loren ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Oct 1997 23:52:51 -0500 From: email_address_removed (Mark Lampert) To: Subject: The Return! Message-ID: Well, today I did the deed, I bought untested bands for the first time in a long time, and I am impressed! I started with a used copy of Savatage's Handful of Rain. I personally love "Burning Castles" but can't give adequate reviews of the rest, but I like it. :) I also picked up FW: A Pleasant Shade of Gray. I love it. It is defienetly the first 50+ minute song I haveever heard! :) I absoluetly love it, it's one of the most incredible songs I've ever heard! I, unlike many of you, can't hear any Kevin Moore influence. That's probably due to one thing, he didn't improvise or write any of the music, he just played what was written, and that was it, at least accroding to a Metal magazine of sorts I picked up and looked at. Very cool stuff overall. Can anybody recommend my next Savatage purchase? The local Sam Goody has the 1995 release in stock, otherwise I'll have to order stuff. Thanx! I really am looking into one, but haven't had time to really look, ya know? 2. I agree with Mike Bahr, "Cover My Eyes" is an excellent tune, and most definetely should not have been cut from FII. I find myself listening to it quite a bit, I just wish I had a better recording, but that's OK. Alwo, Mike, can't wait for the Mosaic and stuff! :) Also can't wait for that next disc with the original "Metropolis!" L8r! It was gathered from various Floyd & Yes web sites ... some bits are 'official' others just rumour at this time. However, I have only included 'rumours' that I found on several sites all hinting at the same things. YES : Not 1 but 2 new albums are due to be released by Yes within the next few months! The first is 'KEYS TO ASCENSION II' which is released on 22nd October. This contains the rest of the tracks from the SLO concerts plus some new studio tracks all featuring the now-defunct Anderson/Howe/Squire/ Wakeman/White lineup. The second is the studio album from the new lineup featuring Anderson/Howe/Squire/White plus Billy Sherwood(guitar/keyboards /backing vocals) and Ivan Khoroshev(keyboards). It is called 'OPEN YOUR EYES' and will be released on 25th November. Although Khoroshev is now an official member of Yes, it is not know if he contributed to the album. The American Yes tour kicked off last week featuring the new lineup. The 2 hours 40 minute set was mostly made up of 'classic' Yes. 2 new songs from 'Open Your Heart' were featured along with 1 of the studio tracks from 'Keys II'. There were a few surprises ... like 2 Rabin era songs (Sherwood taking on the lead guitar parts) and a hefty chunk of 'Topographic Oceans' ! PINK FLOYD : *** This is all just rumour and speculation at this time ! *** There will be a new studio Pink Floyd album released BEFORE next Spring - possibly even before Christmas ! The tentative title of the album is 'LIQUID'. There will be a tour in 1998 to support the album. With the Rolling Stones pretty much monopolising the stadiums next year (and with ticket sales for outdoor shows consistently falling) it is likely to be an INDOOR SHOW. A European tour is supposed to be close to being confirmed. Also, an Australian Floyd fan who works in the immigration department posted that she has processed visa applications for Gilmore/Mason/ Wright & co. for a 3 month period starting next May. As there has been no 'official' statement so far, there is nothing to either confirm or deny the Waters reunion rumours. However, the general consensus of opinion is that this is HIGHLY UNLIKELY ! I hope this is helpful / useful / interesting (delete as appropriate) Ad. *************************************************************** **** Adrian Holmes *** ECsoft Central *** **** **** Email : GBC3F73F@IBMMAIL **** *************************************************************** ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Oct 1997 03:43:17 -0700 From: Michael Bahr To: email_address_removed Subject: thank GOD... All I can say is "Wow". What a great show. The place was packed and it was obvious that people were there from all over, Texas, Tawian, etc... It was only the 3rd night of a mini warmup tour. It looked like they had been doing it for a year. Incredible. I haven't seen DT since the Awake tour so this show ranks currently at #1. The opening band was Sexsist. I don't know how to describe them except as thrash. They were good at what they do. The second band was the Jam's Division. A great performance. I wonder what they are going to do since the Bassist is leaving... Then of course Savatage! They did Chance second and did it pefectly. Unlike the Japan video they did do the cool vocal part at the end. I didn't understand why they did this song second. Zachary Stevens has a great stage presence. The whole band looked like they were having the time of their lives. The set list was similar if not the same as the one posted on the jam earlier. If you missed Savatage on this tour you must see them if they tour next year (in the US that is). European jammers check them out. On a side note, they announced that Fates was coming back to Jaxx DEC 13. I did see a list earlier saying Dec 12. It would make sense that Divine Regale would open since the DR keyboardist is touring with Fates now. Anyone know if Fates plans on doing APSOG again or doing more songs from the old albums? I mean APSOG is great but we just saw it and 4 months later they are back. |-------------------------------------------------------------------| | Pat Daugherty email_address_removed | |===================================================================| | Washington Redskins 4-3 | |-------------------------------------------------------------------| ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 22 Oct 1997 00:01:55 +0900 From: Paul Dyer To: email_address_removed Message-ID: I haven't recieved a digest for four days now.
