DT was 5th in a chart of "Sorrisi e Canzoni" (an italian tv journal), they have sold 25.000 cd. I think it's a new record for Italy! "Love is the dance of eternity." Anyway, please note that this post will contain high amounts of expletives. This is a reaction to the first two hours or so of Ryan Whitaker's Seven Wonders thingamajig. IT FUCKIN ROCKS!! I've listened to Subconscious and When Dream And Tour Unite so far...lots of fun. (Btw, this is the first bootleg I've ever bought...I guess you could say this is a deflowering of sorts.... ;) ) Anyway...I tried using WinPlay 3 but for whatever reason it read the CD in chunks...every few seconds there was an interrpution in the signal...very weird...so installed WinAmp...the skipping phenomenon occurred with that too until I turned off the graphic display...now it's fine =). The version of ACOS on Subconscious blew me away...this is the 19 minute one, without the long intro, or the acoustic guitar opening and closing. The instrumental sections bracketing Another World completely blew my goddamned mind! I also wish they'd kept the "Please don't go!!" stuff on the EP version...On "O Holy Night" and the Beatles medley good ol Chuckie D sou nded a lot better to me than he did on WDADU..."Don't Look Past Me": um, gee, glad this never showed up any studio albums....not one of OFB's better tunes ;) WDADU is pretty incredible. What's up with LaBrie though? It's like he thinks he has to sing real gravelly and deep so he doesn't sound like Charlie...sometimes it works and sometimes it's just grating...I thought he did a helluva job on The Killing Hand, Light Fuse and To Set The Sun (and TLF), but Fortune In Lies, Status Seeker, and Afterlife sound really weird to me without Chuck. Note to Our Favorite Drummer: YOU ARE THE FUCKIN MAN! The extended solo in Ytse Jam is indescribable...take Buddy Rich and Carl Palmer and get em both stuffed to the gills with crack and you have a guy who plays maybe one-tenth as fast, loud, agressive, and just all-around BADASS sounding as MP does on that solo...how the FUCK does he DO that?!?!? (Where does he get those wonderful toys.... =P ) Awesome...A question about the To Live Forever m edley on WDATU--on the back of the CD,it says TLF/Moonbubbles/Showdown...in the liner notes it says TLF/Moonbubbles/Barfbag. Eh? What gives? I don't know the diff between Moonbubbles, Barfbag, and/or Showdown...can anybody a) point which is on WDATU and b) identify the times at which the band switches songs? Man oh man...what else...the version of Light Fuse on WDATU also ripped...I think that was the best track off WDADU (yeah I know Ytse Jam is on there...I still think Light Fuse is better)...too bad the sound is so crappy for that one track. (Man, I'd love to hear the current DT do Light Fuse on the upcoming tour...although I dunno what they'd do with Kevmo's floaty keys passage in the middle...doesn't seem like it fits Derek's style much.) Anyway, I'm going to OT on DT tonite =) and see how much of the nine or ten plus hours of this I can listen to at once! (Probably a lot...) One final question for the audio people: the speaker s on my computer are kinda crappy (no bass)...I have some really good detachable speakers for my stereo...are there any funky cables I can buy or anything that can connect the speakers to the comp? (The speaker output thingie has a screw...the comp input has a jack... do they make anything like that?) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Oct 1997 17:55:54 -0400 (EDT) From: email_address_removed (Dan Abosso) To: email_address_removed Subject: .. At least I know what's gonna be in my computer's CD Rom player for a while. : ) Ryan did a great job with this CD, as he did with "Seven Wonders." He mentioned that some of the conversions didn't go well, but everything sounds good to me. I went right to the stuff off "Caught in Amsterdam '97" and they sound fine. Ryan said that those songs would have the most distortion. If this is the worst sounding stuff on the CD, the rest must be perfect. Don't miss out and order "Spinning Years" as soon as you can. For $22, it's a bargain. And, no, I am not related to Ryan, I'm just glad he makes these great CDs. Take care, Adam Perkowsky P.S. -- If any Long Island Jammers are looking for the new Savatage, I got mine at Slipped Disc in Valley Stream. They had plenty of copies there for $21.99 apiece. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Oct 1997 15:25:10 PDT From: "Eric LaRue" To: email_address_removed Subject: Re: FII - The last one?
